There is a woman of color who STILL in jail because she lied about her address and tried to get her child in a better *public* school. This has been years now. And these jerks stole an significant opportunity from someone else deserving who needed it.

Are you talking about Tanya McDowell? Yea she had other charges. After she was on bail for falsifying school district records she was arrested again twice for selling drugs and sex. People and media left out that information. I had to google it myself.

@@Whitneypyant she did have those allegations not sure how they turned out but she was homeless and on the street. Used the babysitters address so he could attend school. She was put in jail for Stealing an education. But she had no permanent address and her son needed to attend school.
There's another young mom Kelly Williams-Bolar went to jail for using her dad's address because he was in better public school district. Her jail sentence was similar to that of Felicity Huffman. There is no cap on public schools so its not like this blocked anyone else from education. but there is limit on university education especially with the Ivy league schools.
These people stole/bribed their undeserving children into opportunities they didn't deserve or need. *They* stole someone's higher opportunity and education experience. There's no way they should have similar sentences.

This kind of thing happens more than we realize in all facets of life. We only know of the ones who got caught. In a way the parents are teaching their kids a valuable lesson...do anything to get ahead as long as you don't get caught.

Ok it has always been known that money has played a factor in college admissions, in jobs, and basically everywhere in life. I'm not saying people who do this are right but it should not come as a shock that this has not happened before, and this family should not be the face of this scandal. Take a look at Trump, how was a man with low gpa and test scores make it into UPenn? There's obviously the possibility his dad paid off the school in some way for his kid to have a decent education. If you had the money or power to put your kids in to a good school, why wouldn't you? And again Im not saying this is right or fair for any hard-working, lower-class student but money will always be the one making decisions in this world.
