Malacca, Penang and Singapore were the international seaports pre-aircraft era. You can visualize the world map and imagine how these 3 ports were the R&R for international sailors with constantly changing administrations.
Out of the 3, Malacca preserved the most of her historical structures. And we are glad.
Also Penang and Singapore experienced air raid bombings so they didn't have the option to preserve much.
I'm from Melaka. You potryed Melaka so well. Thank you 😍
Hi Josie and Mike! A belated welcome to Malaysia. Love how cheerful and curious you are in your videos, and how respectful you are about remembering local food names. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time here! :) Once you try Malaysian food, you can't get enough of it. You'll be back again next time I'm sure haha.
Hey Cherrywine!!!! Thank you so so much! Hahha this is my first time in south east Asia and my first overseas trip in almost 10 years haha! I knew NOTHING about SEA before I left, I’m taking everything in and trying my best and loving it more than I ever thought 😂

Should try the malay food Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Laksam....originated from the East Coast States ( Kelantan & Terengganu) but you can find in KL go to Kak Som restaurant Kampung Baru...make sure to mix it well before you eat especially the nasi kerabu to give you a burst of flavor 😁😁
Overwhelmed by your magnificent view of Malacca every brief moment. The traditional red buildings are amazing. The night street market is brightly lit so the trees look especially beautiful. Cendal looked dear to me.
Wow thank you!!!! 😍🙏🏻 it’s SUCH a beautiful town/city! 😁😁😁
My beautiful hometown...glad you like it. My fav is just original cendol.

@@josieliftsthings You should visit very beautiful Kampung Morten, a Malay village which is situated next to the river. There are traditional Malay houses & few cute mini houses as well..

Wow melaka very nice travel 💖👍👍👍
Wow nice trip..I love malacca
cendol duriann superb must try..
They are actually trishaws commonly used during the colonial period. The reason why the bathroom is huge is (maybe) its a room converted to a bathroom which the owner is not allowed to demolish the walls to make the bedroom bigger because its under the unesco heritage site regulation.
That’s probably true! I had a peek in the other rooms (doors were open no one there) and they were lay out different hahaha probably a smaller bathroom. Just funny 😂😂😂😁
Loving the look of Melaka 👍
It’s a lovely place that’s for sure
Hi, i'm from Melaka..Welcome to Melaka..Nice video..

@@josieliftsthings you're most welcome dear🍓
Amazing, melaka
Stingray asam pedas..woww..u so lucky ...im so jealous now..mmmm
Thank you for the beautiful video
Thank you for watching!
The type of fish that you had with the asam pedas is sting ray. Locals call it ‘ikan pari’. You can find asam pedas cooked with other types of fishes as well. In fact, some restaurants serve chicken and beef asam pedas. Anyway, i believe that the most loved by malaysians is the sting ray asam pedas.
Nice choice Melaka really famous with asam pedas☺☺👍👍👍
please go to negeri sembilan josie & try masak lemak cili padi.. very spicy.. u will die for sure.. just kidding😂🤣🤣
im from malacca..welcome to malacca...u must try Coconut Shake Batu Berendam...no 1 in Malacca
Because of "Asam Pedas" is my favourite!!!
I subscribed your channel ✅🙋🏼
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 welcome to my channel! Thanks for subscribing 😁😁😁🤤☺️
fyi : The Asam pedas u tried was not a fish. what the guy recommended was a stingray aka Manta. its quite popular to have assam pedas stingray in melaka. word of warning it is very spicy and sour. if u can pass that spicyness, its really an awesome dish to eat with rice actually. kudos to u for trying it out.
You should try the oridinary cendol at any mamak stall by the roadside. That one much more lighter and more refreshing. Try it when you are in Penang.
Ngl i never miss your videos hahaahha
You’re the OG😁 hahaha first here thank you so much!! 😂😁🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You had my fav food n drink 😋
Yum
Yes!
👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉👌👌👌loving your content!
Awesome video 🥰😘👍👍 yummy cendol 😋asam pedas is spicy gravy...I'm prefer stingray fish asam pdas 😋...very clean n beautiful city....
Thank you!!! 😁😁🙏🏻
I really miss travelling even though my recent trip to Penang was on 8 July 2022-16 July 2022. 😊
The good..brilliant tapi sayang tak singgah makan durian
Cendol sounds like the Bingsu I had in South Korea! Shaved ice and ice cream but I had it with strawberries (it was amazing, it tasted like eating strawberries and cream in England) but you can get different flavours like the Cendol.
Hahaha I had a mango bingsu once, you’re right it’s a good comparison! Thank you! 😁😁
The main ingredients of asam pedas and the sambal tumis that is usually eaten with nasi lemak have the same base ingredients. That may be why is taste similar. Also the fish you had was a stingray.
Your smile is infectious
Thank you!!!! 🥹🥹😁
Dats wat I kol real toothsome smorgasbord of whatchamacallit of wholesomeness stuff, cnt wait to go there
hi Josie!
do come visit One Utama Shopping centre
it is the BIGGEST Mall in Malaysia
amongst the fashion shops and restaurants
there are;
1. Indoor Skydiving
2. Rock Climbing (Camp 5)
3. Indoor baseball
4. Indoor Surfing
5. two Cinemas (tgv and gsc)
6. outdoor nature park
the parking is super cheap there, compared to other malls
AND you can still go there by MRT Train!
One Utama is also near TTDI, Damansara and PJ which are city areas in Malaysia.
let me know when you guys are visiting Ine Utama and ill gladly be the tour guide for you guys 🤘🏽
love ur eyes and your smile.
If u ask me i'll go for the original cendol. Its always the best. LOL. 2nd will be durisn cendol. Its surprisingly taste great. Had it in kampung baru KL for the 1st time and it just blew my mind
Been watching your vlog, since u were in Philipine, luv yr vibes, so fun and bubbly 😁🤗 Welcome to Msia Josie, and Mike, have fun in Msia, espcly the foods, islands, and us Msian 😊 also, plssss visit us in Kuching, Sarawak, Msia, Borneo, you both will love it, foods, and places 🙏
Thanks for still being here - I just uploaded my Sarawak video 🙏
If you like milo, you should try MILO DINOSAUR... it is really2 goooooddd! As for cendol, I like the plain original cendol- it is "watery"- just coconut milk, shaved ice and cendol (green, rice flour jelly) + gula melaka (like palm sugar)
*Welcome back to Malaysia 🇲🇾Truly Asia Good foods, rainforest good beach & others many More Enjoyed thanks sharing good videos*
🇲🇾♥️💖❤️💗💗🥰🇲🇾💖💗♥️💝🇲🇾
*Welcome to Malaysia, Malaysian likes to lepak2 at mamak restaurant drink teh Tarik - you can joining me to or any Msian if you likes , is no problem for Malaysian 🇲🇾❤️💝💖🧡💖💝❤️🇲🇾*
I Love durian cendol.super creamy🥰
I don’t think durian is for me!!! 😂😂😂
You should have spent more days in Malacca, at least 3 days 2 nights. There are many things you have not seen and tried there. Kampung Morten is a scenic place to take photos at night. It is very beautiful and unique. You should have also tried tai bak, a Chinese kind of cendol. It is very nice. St. Paul's Hill and St. John's Hill are historic places to visit. We have beautiful beaches too. In your next visit, try contact a local so that he or she can bring you around Malacca.
I really liked my time there as it was!! I loved it! Unfortunately we don’t have enough time to spend long periods in each place, otherwise we can’t see more of malaysia! 😁😁 thank you for watching! 🙏🏻😁😁
Ya.so short.
Hi josie, you must go to Sarawak and Sabah too, because there are many traditional foods in Sarawak and Sabah.. you should try.. I really like your content.. welcome to Malaysia.. 🥰🥰🥰
Follow my Instagram! You may get a little surprise with real time updates 😉 ahaha thank you for watching! 😁😁🙏🏻
At 2'36" the exposed bricks were thinner. Apparently it was from the Dutch era. When the Dutch left, British architecture had thicker bricks like the one you have in Australia too. By the bricks dimension, you can know the era or time period.
Do visit Melaka again as there are all sorts of delicious food outside of Jonker Street / area 🙈 there any many other shops which sells nice Nyonya Cendol, roti bakar, Nyonya Laksa, Putu Piring, chicken rice, roti canai and the list goes on 🙈🤩 hope you guys will be back one day!
Yes one day - we loved it!
Great Video vlog
Thank you for watching it! 😁😁
#2 and I'm here for the party! 🥳 🎉 🪅 🎊
So fast Walt as always! thank you!! 😁😁
I am from Sabah and Sarawak Borneo but if you think come to Kuching Sarawak..you are Welcome 😉
Jonker 88 is my favorite to-go restaurant in Melaka to have nyonya Laksa n cendol 🤤
Sedap 🤤
Ask for "milo ais kaw" for more chocolatey taste.. the "kaw" is pronounce "cow"
If you don't know whether the gravy is spicy or not don't mix it with the rice ask for a separate plate. It's normal to do that here.
My hometown💛
Beautiful place!! 😁😁
Can try the authentic Peranakan dishes & cendol in the following restaurants available only in Malacca.
Baba Ang
Aunty Lee
Cottage Spices Nyonya
very beautiful city!I love there. The big bathroom is fanny😂
So funny! It was bigger than the room 😂😂
Welcomed to Malaysia, hope you like this country. That’s is not toktok as u see in other south east Asia country that’s actually is trishaw.. but over many years people use to modified it and become a signature trishaw in melaka.. that’s different trishaw u will see at Penang.. which not much been modifying and still 60% look as old era time
Definitely it’s different!
Welcome to Malacca ✌️
Thank youuuu!! 😁😁
Asam pedas does not limit itself to fish, there is Asam pedas daging tetel (odd cuts of beef) and in Johor they also do chicken Asam pedas.
Yes I think this one was stingray!
nc video Love from Bangladesh 💓💓
You should visit Genting Highland
cute couple.. ☺️☺️
Please try out coconut shake Klebang next round.
come to kedah!!
asam pedas ikan pari is perfect choice 👍
It was so spicy! Hahaha but a lovely dish for the area 😁😊
Hi guys! Personally i would prefer just the regular cendol...i'm kinda conservative a bit with this haha 😆 but it would be nice to have some cendol during that hot, sunny afternoon. Anyway you are always welcome to try any sort of variation or innovation that the cendol purveyor could have offered no big deal 😉. As for the Melaka's asam pedas meal, even myself as a local (but not a Melakan😁) couldn't tolerate the spiciness of it 🥵...mind you i eagerly want to but i just can't or else I would've spent precious time in the loo ruining the day trip haha 😆. Till then, take care n' see ya!
nice
You should Come to JB too
Welcome to my city
The fish with rice u ate is stingray fish.
👌👌👌
You should have gone to the Jalan Hang Jebat where there is a chendol shop opposite the Jehan Chan Art Gallery.
Ahh this was the one most requested! 😁😁🙏🏻
My father's Art Gallery and use to come home to Malacca and stay in the shop with my brother in law and order the chendol. I am now in Auckland, NZ.
My favourite asam pedas.i love spicy🥰
Hahahah I wish I could do more! 😂😂😂
The fish - that was stingray. My favourite
I didn’t know that 😂😂😂😂 thank you!!
Air Batu Campur = Mixed Ice = Shaved Ice topped with sugar, condensed milk, nuts, jellies, green noodles.... ice cream if you're lucky
You had the asam pedas sting ray... yummy...
I had no idea it was stingray!!! Hahahahahaha! Thank you! 🙏🏻😁
In case you have a tummy ache due to eating too much spicy food you can move the bed into the bathroom
HAHAHAAHHAA!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m dying at this comment hahahaahha!
Locking nice.. I love you
❤❤❤❤
Comments raving on cendol, you guys forgot abt keria! It's my must have when in Malacca and my fav spot is in Kuala Sg Baru. Best!
Hahah I never actually heard of Keria! I only got so many messages about cendol! 😂😂 unfortunately we’ve left now! Maybe if we ever come back to melaka ❤️😁
@@josieliftsthings it's Malay version of doughnut. Made with sweet potatoes with palm sugar glaze. It's usually freshly fried, so you have the crunch of the glaze and bite into hot meshed sweet potatoes. I can cry hahaha Ya there's always next time.
