High efficiency washers are really not washing machines, they're wishing machines, because you'll always wish that they could work as well as the old school heavy duty washing machines.
you're clearly not buying proper machines. I've had HE front loaders my entire life until a few years ago when I moved countries. Never had problems, clothes were perfectly clean, it was quick, clothes didn't get damaged. And now, clothes come out still dirty, get damaged very quickly and the machine gets so gross. It also uses so much more water.
I had one high efficiency one, I put a blanket to wash and parts of the blanket came out completely dry
I washed a heavy load of clothes and literally some came out completely dry

We have a Sears Kinmore upright frost list freezer from 1974 it is still running as I am writing this the only thing we had to change unit was the lightbulb it is 2021 and it’s still running the temperature I just checked is four below zero I don’t know how old you are but I’ve been around for a while you’re outside central air conditioner 10 years max before you have problems your stoves your dishwashers all this money saving on water you need water to get things clean if a dog shit On the cement you wouldn’t pour a little bit of water and scrub it out you’d pull out a garden hose and spray the hell out of it you need a lot of water to get things clean water does clean. End of story

The difference between the two can be summed up easily: The old machine was designed to wash really dirty clothes clean.
The new machine was designed to save as much water as possible.
There is no competition between them when it comes to which actually washes really dirty clothes cleaner. The older model, hands down.
The old school washers actually save more water because it doesn’t have sensors and it doesn’t have massive tubs either

The old school is having a good old-fashioned wringer washer. Water-efficient as you only have to fill it once and wash your clothes in the proper order.
The old washing machines with the agitators get heavy stains out with ease. The new ones - eh.
Im keeping my old Kenmore washer and dryer until someone pries them from my cold dead hands. LOL

I didn't repair my washer for $200 and replaced it with a HE front loader - NIGHTMARE!! If I could go back in time I would pay double.
A key point you did not mention is that old school washing machines last 10X longer the the present day HE crap...
Do manufacturers today design things to fail? Yes. (I personally think that is unethical.) However, that is why we made this video. Proper loading of the appropriate garments (along with the proper cycle and an appropriate amount of detergent) will make a HUGE difference when using a high efficiency washer. Used appropriately, a machine will last longer.

Undoubtly, I´d prefer old school washing machine by far.
Many do. But, the biggest issue with modern high-efficiency machines is operator error. If we use the machines, the way they are designed, we can certainly do our laundry appropriately.

High-efficiency machines are great machines. Please don’t misunderstand what we are trying to say. High-efficiency machines just have to be treated differently. One has to do laundry in a high-efficiency machine differently than they would do laundry in an old-school heavy duty machine.

My old washing machine and dryer lasted 23 years.....I have a 26 year old stove, do you think I am in any hurry to replace that stove, hell no.....the old school appliances were made in Canada and the US, now the crap ones are made in the Asian countries or Mexico....enough said.
Also to add do laundry a different way in the new machine? Means extra loads and extra work.....thank goodness for the deep wash and rinse cycle option I skip over that water sensor crap.

Finally, legit feedback and comments that highlight a machines wash performance. I have been searching and reading consumer views with 99.9% of the reviews mentioning the technology (wifi connection, etc.) and various wash cycles with no mention of the cleaning performance.

Go old school even if u have to restore it …the new stuff is garbage and fat from efficient! I’ve been through so many washers in the last 4 years trying to find one that’s. As good as the old school top loading direct drive washers were that they’re not allowed to sell in America any longer …what a joke! With all the bs going on in the world and they’re sticking their paws into our appliances….i find so many of these new washers being set out as scrap because it’s some board that’s gone bad and the manufacturer has made them more expensive then the entire machine so that we just buy new….its great for their profits but bad for our landfills and wallets
I’ve found that the more basic you go on modern washing machines, the better luck you will have. The lower end Amana and Whirlpool washers with an agitator wash a lot better than the higher end models. Mine is a whirlpool about 3 months old and so far it’s been doing great. But as far as old school machines go, they are much better, especially the direct drive Whirlpools
I do not like the new stuff. The government is crooked and wicked. There is no water shortage. Why has Downey unstoppable commercials blown up so big?, because there is no water in the washing machines. The computer system in these new machines are horrible. Forget High Efficiency because it's not, it's money in the the highups pockets. There is no water shortage. 75 to 80% of this earth 🌎 is water 💧. The people fall for this lie. Give us water. We can keep HE with more water, not Downey!

Actually, Speed Queen sells a washer that has a "green" option but you don't have to use it. You get a full tub of water and an agitator.

The Maytag Centennial HE washer I had needed a new board, and possibly a new actuator motor. Grand total for those parts was well over $200. I got an old Kenmore 70 series that was leaking for free, and it just needed a new pump and hoses, which cost less than $40.
There are many new machines with an agitator, no agitator means your clothes are not getting clean. 2 years ago , after my 23 year old workhorse Inglis basic washing machine bit the dust and my dryer was 24 yrs old was on its last legs, I purchased an Amana basic washer with an agitator and gas dryer in Canada for 1350 dollars including tax.
The high efficiency water sensor wash is ok but I prefer using the deep water wash and rinse cycle now, it cleans the clothes better......I told my husband dont be surprised if our next washing machine is a much older model. The old machines were just better period.
That old school washer sounds exactly like my old Kirkland top load washer my mother had for almost 15 years. My father originally bought the washing ser for $600 back in 1999. We originally got rid of the machine because it broke down twice within one year. I don’t remember what the issue was, but we just decided to get HE front load machines that are still going strong. That old Kirkland machine was used several times a week. It seems to me that Whirlpool made them since that old school washer looked exactly like Costco’s Kirkland top load washers. Gosh…what memories!
Between my parents and grandparents, I have gotten to use each type of washing machine listed & I am currently able to use an HE front loader from Samsung & a GE washer dryer combo (top loader). They both work very well for me. More things have changed since the inception of modern washers (clothes & detergents) that have altered the cleaning process. First thing that helped me was to add detergent first to my top loader so that the detergent was evenly distrubuted & then to add clothes. I also switched to a laundry detergent called "Hex" which is specifically anti-bacterial & designed to remove soil from the more fine fibers of synthetic materials in many clothing products today. The Samsung HE front loader uses very little water but is an overall better machine because it has a better washing process. Another thing that helped me is using laundry aids with specific use cases, breaking down oils, killing bacteria(ridding smell), or dissolving fats (from your skin & sweat) to pre-soak my clothes. The machines do require decent care though (calibrating the drum, cleaning the drain filter etc). One thing that is true about older models is that they can reliably wash larger loads of clothes in less time without a doubt.

Maytag commercial grade and speed queen TC5000WN both still use an agitator and fill the tub completely. I'll be getting the Speed Queen.
Good choice. I've had one for two years and I have had nothing to complain about so far, unlike the LG the SQ replaced which never got clothes clean and which hogged water like a blown pressure regulator.
I.got my speed queen about 8 years ago to replace my whirlpool HE which lasted a whole 23 months yes months! With 2 people! I love my speed queen, no bells and whistles and my wash is done and clean in about 30 minutes ! Love it! Good luck

I have a 1997 kenmore 80 series washing machine. I like it because theres no computers, parts are cheap, and very simple to repair when it breaks. On modern washers, they break constantly, and they are expensive to repair because it has computer systems. On my Kenmore, the only thing i had to replace was the dog ears on tge agitator and the little gear thats used to spin the washer instead of a drive belt. Both repairs were done within 20 min
The Best HE top load washing machine was the Kenmore/Whirlpool Calypso. We were already use to the old style Kenmore but what a difference in the cleaning power the Calypso had over the older unit. The other best HE machine is the Maytag Neptune, they came in both a top load and the most common front load. The HE machine that is in this video I have tried already and they do not clean as effectively as the others that I just mentioned. I worked with appliances and appliance repair for a few years so I know these machines very well and got to test out many of them. I actually had a lot of fun. The Kenmore Calypso is what got me started in appliances going back to 2008 and my machines still are working excellent.
I love vintage washers especially from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Not as energy or water efficient but built like tanks and clean clothes well. I live on the great lakes where there is no water shortage.
There is water shortage, and dont just think of yourself, if you are over 18, as an adult you have to think responsibly about saving the planet and doing the right good stuff.
@@michaelcraig9449 Not where I live on the five great lakes. 6 quadrillion gallons covering 94,250 square miles they are the largest fresh water lakes in the world. They have close to one quarter of the entire earth's fresh water supply. We have the opposite problem. In the last few years water levels have been steadily rising and flooding out shore lines and destroying beeches and boardwalks. Need water?... come and get it.
After a while, people get frustrated with the so called HE machines not getting the clothes clean and get in the habit of washing the clothes twice. That's 3hrs per load for those who didn't keep up.

@@affordableappliances3082that made zero sense when considering the old school washers washed the clothes in one cycle and ur saying that that same size load of laundry now needs to be split down into 3 loads of laundry in order to make this HE garbage clean as well maybe as the old school washers did in one cycle….id rather do one load of laundry and not 3 ….theres no efficiency at all in these new pieces of garbage
I’ve had all three types. The old agitators are now relics. I had a front load for many years, but there were pros and cons. It used little water, got the clothes clean, easy on the fabrics, and wrung out almost all the water. BUT, the dog fur always built-up in the gasket and it had to removed regularly, so the gasket eventually failed. And despite cleaning it after every use and leaving the door open, it still had mold-mildew issues. So I bough an HE top load recently. I’m not convinced yet, but it does get the clothes clean and seems easy on the fabric. But you have to be careful not to overload it, the cycle takes forever, it gets unbalanced if you look at it the wrong way, and the spin doesn’t remove nearly the same amount of water as the front loader.
Front loads are absolutely the best at cleaning, cost/water efficiency,capacity and flexibility in agitation modes. Your problem with mold and mildew is because everyone uses too much detergent! Only use one tablespoon of liquid he detergent! Check and clean out the clean out the trap monthly.
Or they sit in there for hours.

There’s a 3.5 cu ft Maytag commercial-grade washer & A Speed Queen TC series that exist. Both are commercial washers and have agitators in them. They’re TOP OF THE LINE old school washers and they perform VERY WELL 🧼🌊🌪
I used to have a Costco Kirkland top load washer and that baby was a beast. It was repaired four times in its 20 year life and always performed like new. I unfortunately had to recycle the machine after I couldn’t find parts for it anymore. Nothing compares to those simple yet effective machines. I wonder who manufactured the older Kirkland top loaders from 2000.
These new HE washing machines break down after a year of light use, The electronic control module cost around $600 to replace. The washing machine cost $1,100.00 new!

... agreed ... no reason to have to do wash every other day just because of load size ...
Same with double flushing a water saving toilet, an extra 10 minutes in the shower because you have to run in circles to get damp, etc... It's all penny pinchers, snot nosed accountants, environmental tree huggers who push all of these regulations that make more misery in our houses, more garbage on the curb and in our landfills, but they have all the answers just ask them!

The new modern ones are a joke. Nothing washes clothes better than a pre 1990's machine.

@@johnoofsatchurch Whirlpool made direct drives in 2004. GE made the chug chug type ones in 2004. the basic machines in 2004 were the older style type. In the mid to late 2000s, It was only higher end models that were high efficiency. Washers started going all high efficiency even in basic models in the late 2000s to early 2010s. The law was in place in 2011. Which means even basic washers these days are high efficiency. Same thing happened to certain types of light bulbs, toilets, and refrigerators.

Boy, I sure do wish I had my old agitators back. When I moved I gave one to my mother, and the other that was stored I gave to my MIL; and, I went out and bought me a brand new washing machine (junk).
If you're blessed to still be using an "old school" machine, you can reduce wear and tear on your old friend by using the gentle cycle for almost all of your washes (unless you are really dirty or have infants and little children who play in the mud.) Gentle cycles, lower water levels, and reduced detergent works for most adult needs. And you should be able to extend the life of your classic machine by 3x or more.
Even with very dirty clothes….simply letting them sit and soak in hot hot water and borax for an hour or two before starting the gentle cycle will clean the clothes better then three washings in the new garbage..,
You can clearly see which one is “putting in work” and which one is not. I had forgotten how strong the old direct drive washers were. Been using the Whirlpool dual action agitators for so long now.
the old school washer is just over there going to town on those clothes, we had a washer like that about 10 years ago, then we bought a GE high-efficiency washer, I'm shocked the thing lasted 10 years, now we're in the market for a new one

Why in the world don't they just go ahead and build in a surge protection circuit in these computer controlled washers? Personally I think you're better off with old school machines that are worth repairing when they fail. You can find parts everywhere CHEAP, and a lot of parts even interchange between brands. These newer machines cost several hundred dollars to replace electronics when they fail, and that's only while supplies last. So they're basically a disposable item. Why do you need a computer in a washing machine? I mean it basically just moves your clothes around in water.
your new washer is a rebadged GE washer i had one and sold it less then a month after buying it and put the old whirlpool Direct drive model from 1994 back in its place and wont change it out again

Yeah Kenmore doesn’t actually make anything. If I recall correctly, this was actually a whirlpool design, you can tell by the control panel main knob and the bleach dispenser. Kenmore just re-badges everything that they make from the main manufacture. There’s nothing wrong with the newer stuff when it’s used properly. It’s just imperative that it be used properly.

My Whirlpool washer and dryer are at least 38 years old and still work well. A belt has been repaired once. I'm dreading the day they die. There is a drought here that requires we conserve water. So far, I'm definitely not throwing my old washer in the dump and replacing it with an HE. Today's experiment: washing some rugged white towels as a small load super wash with hot water, then, after the knob indicated only the normally timed wash was left, added my more delicate clothing and washed it on top of the towels in cold water. That way, I rinsed two loads at the same time. I looked on the internet to see how much water I'm using compared to HE. Since HE machine loads would be smaller than what I put in, I think the water-use might be closer to the same. I hope so.
Anyway, I think I might get a bucket of grey water out of the final rinse if the drought gets nastier.
Don’t fall for the HE hoax….its not about water conservation…it’s about control….u will be replacing a new HE machine every few years adding more appliances to the landfills because the manufacturer made the parts so expensive to replace it’s cheaper to just buy a new one….on purpose….control and frustration…
I remember being in appliance repair school when the "Design 2000".... direct drive Whirlpools came out. It was considered to be crappy light duty that would NEVER compete with their old belt drives. In fact it was considered a dog... and even Whirlpool got away from Design 2000 logo because it was underperforming. It sure turned out to be a good design... and NOW its considered heavy duty compared to the new electronic machines with no agotator. They should start making the old Dependable Care Maytags again.... they would sell like hotcakes.
Except there's one problem with trying to make the dependable care maytags, the REAL Maytag is DEAD! They were bought out by Whirlpool in 2006. Have you seen those maytag machines in stores nowadays? Well those are all made by Whirlpool.

You forgot to mention that fact that the new he machines take twice as long to wash too. It's ridiculous that a load can take an hour and a half to wash on heavy load

I’ve got a new dish washer that’s a HE ….i put my old fashioned dishwasher back and rolled the new one to the corner and gonna sell it cuz it takes 3x longer then the old one and doesn’t clean the dishes hardly ….and there’s no way to change the settingg he s for a shorter wah time then 100 minutes …my old one does a cycle in less then 45 minutes and gets the dishes clean the first time around….

Agitators turn the clothes over in less than a minute, but HE machines do it in more than an hour.
The Old School Washing Machines are the Best. The Computer Type Washing Machines are Terrible, with Lots of problems regardless what kind of washing machine you get.
I have the one on the left, I'll always fix it as long as it's viable. I even got a spare machine for parts for free!

That hi efficiency was getting pretty full of water but i prefer the old school style. No expensive soaps to buy and let's not forget the suggested monthly wash machine cleanings

I just saw an LG CZcams ad featuring a "smart" washer, apparently equipped with AI. AI in a washer? Three words: No... thank... you.
You are not alone. A lot of people prefer the old school heavy duty machines. The ugly truth is, we are forced to live with these types of machines if we want to do our laundry here in the United States. So it’s best to learn how to use them properly and efficiently so that we get the most longevity.
It’s entirely possible to build a high quality, long lasting, reliable High Efficiency washing machine: Speed Queen, Miele, and Bosch all do so. But, you pay for that quality, and a lot of big brands have figured out that they can skimp on quality and increase profits, as long as they have the marketing budget to fool most consumers.
I love my front loading HE washer, but I also spent more to get a high quality Miele set that’s more steel than plastic, and know I can’t stuff it like I did the 1980s-era Whirlpool I grew up with.
The difference is the old school washer does a much better job it actually got your clothes cleaner and in less time. The new washers are a pain in the b u t t!!!!!!! Takes an hour to do a cycle plus doesn't even get your clothes clean a complete joke!! I know this for certain because unfortunately I have one!! Wish I had the old school one back!!!
amen! i bought my very first NEW W & D without doing research like an idiot. My HE washer, does not even get the top of the load wet, never touches the small amount of water the machine decides on. so i have to add buckets of water, babysit the thing. what a piece o'shite! why are these being made?

And you are in control, if you have a rug or something that you want to hand wash, then you can put it in the washer and just spin the water out. Stop and start whenever you want, no computer programmed cycle to worry about.
@@sandyhearn8332 my Amana I bought two years ago....has an agitator, I have hand washed items and then put it in the rinse slash spin cycle.....when I feel it's done I just simply cancel the cycle by pressing the button.....no need to go through a full cycle if needed.
I had a clear lid on my LG. The machine was a piece of shit that didn't clean clothes worth a damn, but wasted a hell of a lot of water not doing it and it barely outlasted the warranty.
Nothing like being awoken by that classic whirlpool clattering sound in the morning. And its isnt even at your house.

New washers are BS. I went from an old school washer like the one on the left to a high efficiency washers like on the right in this video. Sure the high efficiency use less water but I can't do as large of a load as I'm used to doing in the OG washer on the left. The HE would not spin out due to the load being too large and sensing off balance. So therefore I am splitting the loads in half making the HE do 2 loads. HE doing 2 loads vs OG doing 1 load means the HE is using the same amount of water as the OG! Mind Blowing!

I was so scared because I thought my old washer and dryer were on their last legs (29 years) and started to malfunction. Luckily, I had them repaired and they work brand new (thank heaven). I will continue repairing them until they run out of parts or no longer exist. The new washers just do not clean well and take hours to finish.

My Kenmore was manufactured in ‘84. I’ve repaired the dryer twice and I’m ready to get a new one but still on the fence about replacing the washer.
.. look for used but guaranteed old school washer/dryers ... they worked for last 50 years ... will likely work 25 more ... all depends ... can you still buy green bananas? ... jk ... the new ones smell bad sometimes as well ...they may not have as good spin power either ...
Slight correction: where you said they don’t make those washing machines on the left due to water laws, they actually are going back to that style due to customer complaints. I had a washing machine like the one on the right, and I will never buy another one again. It really did not seem to clean the clothes like the one on the left used to. Well, it finally went kaput and I went and purchased one like the one on the left. My clothes have been the cleanest they have been in over 10 years!
Also, that HE washing liquid is a joke! I went back to using washing powder and not only do my clothes feel clean they smell clean as well.
You may have purchased one on the left that has a similar tub and agitator. However, if you bought a new in the United States, it is still a high-efficiency machine. It probably has a 1/3 hp motor as opposed to a half horsepower motor and the gears in the transmission or plastic instead of steel.

You wouldn’t happen to know what the hell brought these HE water saving washing machines about would you? I mean if it was designed to save water it’s a moot point. My water bill averages between $30 and $40 a month but if it was $100 and having an HE machine cut that in half I could see getting one but whatever money I save having one of those things may be a dollar or two and that’s it! Even with the new machine I have to always put it on deep clean so it thoroughly cleans the clothes, so what money have I saved having one?
@@phayzyre1052it’s the control that brought it about….these washing machine manufacturers weren’t having as many sales as they’d like so now they have this HE bs so they break down constantly due to board failure which costs more then a new machine to fix…..I bought new appliances once…they all died and weren’t fixable due to cost of parts compared to buying new again within 8 years of buying them new….the junk washer that’s a piece together I bought for $50 has worked excellent for over a year but recently broke down…so I’m rebuilding it over buying new cuz I don’t want to deal with this bs again for at least a decade…that’s not possible with this new garbage…socialism at its finest….but how many will blame capitalism which has been dead and gone for awhile now

That green garment in the HE washer is staying on top. Not getting washed. This has been my experience with both Whirpool and Kenmore HE top loaders. I had to buy a manual agitator, pause the washer, and push my clothes down, so they even get wet.

I bought me a 2018 speed queen my wife and me into about 20 loads a week I don’t know about the 2021s or the newer models but if anything goes wrong with this I will make sure and get it fixed the new washing machines are junk paid $1100 worth every penny and it beats the crap out of the dirt and it’s made in USA 🇺🇸
We've got a family of 7 and I've been eyeing a Speed Queen for awhile now, just waiting for the day when our washer breaks. We've been extremely lucky to have gotten *all* of our washers and dryers either free or at a significant discount, but I am ready to get our "forever" washer. I'm also looking into 2nd Hand Commercial washers

Modern high-efficiency machines are actually designed not to have the tub completely full. This is especially true for machines without agitators. We suggest you fill the tub only a third of the way for most loads. I know it sounds weird. The only reason a washing machine is as deep as it is with no agitator is so that it will match the height of the dryer next to it.

I have one without agitator. I wash horse blankets in it with NO problems. They come out great. I got rid of my old washer with the agitator because it was beating up my clothes and no room for horse blankets.

I'll keep my old-school 2019 Speed Queen TC5000, still old school, still available. The Maytag Commercial MVWP575GW is also old-school, but less durable than the Speed Queen.
My experience with the so-called high-efficiency machines shows that they don't save water, they don't save time, and they don't clean clothes worth a tapeworm in a dog's turd.

High efficiency means dirty clothes.
That is why we made this video. Proper loading of the appropriate garments (along with the proper cycle and an appropriate amount of detergent) will make a HUGE difference when using a high efficiency washer.
If it’s so efficient, it shouldn’t take up to 2 hours for a cycle.
Actual cost for both. The old school washers can last 50 years, build solid, well built motors and transmissions (have to replace a belt now and then) and the new ones designed to crap out in 5-7 years and cost more. You decide, fancy new gizmos with propaganda selling you on conveniences that wont wash clothes as well or designs built to last from back in the 50's.
The young have no idea because there is no experience of history for them and the snake oil salemen hypes everything modern as being better, wait till you have to replace the electronics board for a couple hundred$ and you will see why grandpa wasn't fooled by the new fangled crap.
Modern stuff sucks and breaks down real fast. Video games suck too, makes you weak fat and lazy.

Go to a Speed Queen dealer, ask about the 'Classic', AKA the TC5000.
I had a GE HE machine and an LG, and neither lasted much beyond the warranty.
I bought the SQ about two years ago. It is ruggedly built, it has a much heavier duty suspension so the tub doesn't bang the cabinet and when I have tried to load it off-balance, the normal old-school wash action seems to redistribute the load to a balance it can manage. The NORMAL-ECO cycle with extra rinse runs a bit under forty minutes. Just load it, set the dials push the button, and walk away.

My GE-built Hotpoint refrigerator stopped working before it was eight months old, I had to reschedule the warranty service call due to a death in the family, and the woman who called me to inform me that they couldn't work on Saturday (as the GE service center assured me they would do) had an infant screeching into the phone so loudly that I couldn't hear her over the child. She was very rude when I asked her to shut a door between her and the child, and she hung up on me.
After my experience with GE washing machines and kitchen ranges, I don't know why I expected anything better out of a fridge.
Believe me, GE stands for 'GRIEF EXPECTED!'

I have used them all now. Currently have a high efficiency top load and it's a piece of garbage. It does not wash clothes well and the whole thing is very tired.
The house we bought had an old 20+ year old washer/dryer set. The dryer kept dying so we just got them replaced last week. The washing machine still worked great.
Im not quite used to how LONG our new HE washing machine takes. My god, over an hour! Lol when I have 3 loads of laundry to wash, it suuuucks having to wait so long.
Yeah that is a common point that consumers make about high-efficiency machines. They’re certainly not efficient with your time.
If the old-stye machine has a stronger motor, then how can manufacturers call the newer machines called "high efficiency"?
High-efficiency machines only refer to the fact that they use less water per load. They don’t necessarily clean your clothes more efficiently, They typically have a longer run times per cycle, and when used properly, you will wash if you were garments per load, etc.
i absolutely HATE my Maytag HE top load washer. Even WITH BLEACH my whites come out with dirt i can still see. $875.00 worth of nothing. I'd take my old 1997 Kenmore back if they hadn't stopped making the parts for it.

I bought one of the 'efficient" machines a couple of years back, it was quiet and used very little water but sucked at washing clothes. My solution is to add more water with a hose to the tub when the machine finishes its fill cycle so i can get enough water into the damn thing - now it actually cleans the clothes. This means I have to hang around while it fills.
This is what happens when someone designs a machine but never actually uses it. What good is a water efficient machine if you have to run the clothes through it a few times to get the clothes clean?
I never had my utility sink's single spigot swapped out for two, so I have to fill my machine with hot water, turn it off then flip on the cold for later rinsing. It's OK cuz it's the only way I know---I use the wait time to straighten up, sort through something or check emails.
@@msr1116 I would just do all cycles in medium warm. If the clothes come out warm after the final spin, they probably dry slightly faster either on the line or in the dryer.

I bought an HE washer nine months ago. What a mistake. You show the water in the machine on the actually covering the clothes. I don't even get 1/3 that amount. Can't see the water and some of my things are still dry after a complete cycle. Plus, my old washer would do a load, with extra rinse cycle in one hour. Now one load with "extra rinse" takes 90 to 100 minutes.
Try filling the tub with garments no more than a third of the way full. The tubs on high-efficiency machines in today’s world can be very deep, but we really don’t use that much of the machine if we want our laundry to wash properly. Also, be sure you’re not using the quick wash cycle as it is only for one or two garments at a time. Thanks for commenting!
So your gonna end up doing 5 loads in the newer machine compared to 1 load in the older one... how is that saving water? The newer ones are made cheaper so that you have to spend more $ when they mess up and they will. My washer is 30 years old and it just quit agitating and spinning and it makes a noise. I want to cry. 😢I checked and the agitator and the dog things are good. The door switch is good. I took the motor off after i Googled and thought it was the carbon brushes because thats what 1 of the videos described what mine was doing. There are no carbon brushes on my machine. 🤦♀️ so now I think it's the transmission or something idk...
I don’t know what type of machine you have, but I’m guessing it is a whirlpool designed top load washing machine. If your machine won’t spin or agitate, and it makes a noise, is it a terrible noise? Those machines have a plastic coupler between the motor and the transmission that can break. It usually sounds terrible when they break. It’s not a difficult repair and the part is not expensive.
Secondly, you’re not alone. A lot of consumers are very frustrated with modern machines. They boast less water per load. How much laundry you’re going to do is it going to depend on your household.
@@affordableappliances3082 are you talking about the plastic piece on the end of the motor that has 6 holes in it? 3 prongs go in it on the motor side and then it connects with the prongs in the other 3 holes? That's not the issue either... I'm fixing to go to the laundromat then when I'm off work this week try to find another older washing machine🥴😢 yes, it's a 93 whirlpool. RIP 1993 whirlpool. 🤦♀️😆

Still cheaper and better quality if u simply just buy all the parts for the older one and rebuild it with the new parts same technology as the old days when we were allowed to have quality products….mines doing the same as urs and I’ve gone through the same steps but no luck…so I’m gonna have to simply replace the parts and rebuild it before I’m willing to cave and buy a new pos one ….same thing is happening to automobiles…too much tech making it excessively expensive and for no good reason….we need to do something to get these psychos out of our business

Surge protector's do "NOT", protect against, "BROWN-OUTS", reduced voltage, they do against "SWITCHING", on/off's, Motors, old school, stall, & circuit, breaker, might trip.

Most new agitator washers are just a washplate with a center stick. What he should have said was that they no longer make washers with a drivetrain/transmission. There’s only one company making washers with a transmission (SQ).

Those HE machines don't clean for s***. My ex had one, the silly thing would cut off if the cat laid down in front of it. There was a sock in the floor in front of it and that kept it from starting. I'll stick with my Hotpoint from the late 70's. Still washing despite the cat laying in front of it or the sock in the floor.

The biggest issue that consumers have with new machines when it comes to longevity is operator error. When people don’t use these machines appropriately, they break earlier.
Do modern manufacturers design things to break? Absolutely. I personally think that is unethical. That is why we encourage people to use their machines appropriately whether it be a cell phone, blender, car, or washing machine.
and we wonder why we have a chip shortage!…
