1) I always stay in a hotel when I travel to Africa and only very few people know the address : in my case that's cheaper than staying with the family (expecting me to pay for everything during my stay).
2) On my first day, even I'm lodging in a hotel, I go buy provision of bottles of water, juice and soda, snacks, etc that I'll store in the fridge and wardrobe. I make sure none of the receptionist or hotel staff see me bringing them (hidden in my backpack). That way I can buy one cold drink at the bar of the hotel while eating and when in my room consume from own shopping. Drink water alone is too expensive at the hotel.
3) I always travel with an iron an ironing mat in my suitcase so that I don't have to pay for that service.
4) Same with washing my casual clothes, I do that myself in the bathroom : therefore I've my own powder.
5) I bring my own shoe polish set to take care of my shoes. Points 3, 4 and 5 help me being independant and fresh at any time.
6) Since I'm a man and have short hair (not bald), I have my own clipper and trimmer. I do my hair myself whenever I feel like. It saves me barbershop money.
7) I only use cash money and no card when I go out, when money is finished then it's finished, no extra expense.
8) I always travel back with some local currency so that at my next trip I already have some local money I can use at the airport : bribing in local currency is cheaper than bribing in Euros in my case.
9) I've a money manager app on my phone that I update everyday, the best way to save money is to keep track of it and know exactly how much you still have / can spend.
10) I try not to promise any money or gift as to me a promise has to be respected, I only promise when I know I can fulfill. Instead of promising I do surprise.
These are just few of my tips...
These are incredible tips. The snacks idea when staying at a hotel is so necessary because that mini bar is designed to make you bankrupt. Thank you for taking the time to provide such an extended and useful list of tips. Much appreciated.

Hi
I feel also you could do alot more with the airport. The experience there is extremely scary. Discourages others from coming to the country. They dont move you right along. They tend to fear you into giving your money to pass onto the next step to get stamped in and out. Many times it's hard to see whom is Legit and whom may want to harm you before you get to your hosts.
Sassy, I made it! I love all of your content. I’ve been trying to get up the courage to come visit Lagos, and your videos have been so helpful. Thank you for all you do 💗

Hey Sassy I made it to this point hahaha 😃!!! Thanks for the 7 Tips on Saving Money... Oh wow, I like the idea of getting a paid cateria to do the cooking. I like the idea of someone catering, it makes sense. Eating out was quite expensive in my last visit, but I enjoyed all the restaurants visited @ the expense of my pocket. But the food was GOOD. Honestly I wish I knew this the last time I visited Naija!!!
Thanks Sassy I made it!!!
Yay! Glad you made it Ivan. Yes eating out can be an expensive affair indeed. Thanks for watching.

Sassy girl I made it. I follow you from Botswana but am not Nigerian.
Thank you. I have never been to Botswana. I know someone there and hope to visit one day. Thank you for your support ❤️
@@SassyFunke Now you know one more person. 😊 You are welcome to Botswana. I have been to Lagos but briefly, for about 5 days but I didn't like the treat at the airport back then. Your tips are informative and helpful.
Useful tips Sassy and Tips.. I expected you guys to advise us on communication data too... It is crazy in Nigeria
That’s true. Great point. Honestly data is expensive. I am still trying to find ways to reduce my data costs.
Is there Air BnB in Ibadan and how about security?
Sassy I made it.!😆
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Glad you did Valérie ❤️
Sassy, I f***ing made it!
Whoop whoop!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
If you need to give cash gifts, avoid giving FX, use naira instead!
I agree 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I clicked the link to buy your book on Amazon US and it didn't come up.
Based on this video and your previous one, it sounds like cash is king in Nigeria. I mainly use use my cards when I travel and just get a little cash at the ATM.
Yes cash is favored unless you have a local account then transfers are best.
Do I need a yellow vaccine to travel to Nigeria?
From experience it is best doing bargaining with a locals than yourself because you can never beat them...
Very true 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Sassy I made it. Lol...
Thank you Tope
Is Airbnb a good idea ? I’m thinking of starting that in Lagos , but hesitant... Do many people actually use it ?
Yes many people use it. Look out for the reviews and check the areas their in
Yeah I used 2 different air b n bs when I was in Lagos 2 weeks ago
I want to go to Nigeria. Can someone please tell me if the seven day self isolation strictly enforced. Seems like people who currently go there are moving around at will.
Truth is It isn’t strictly enforced
@@SassyFunke thankyou
Sassy, I made it!! I work hard for my money and stretching my dollars is what I seek to achieve. Are you familiar with apps like Groupon or LivingSocial? They offer discounted rates for restaurants, activities, and experiences. Great for the customer who wishes to save money and great for the business looking to find new clientele. Does Nigeria have anything like that??🤔
We don’t really have platforms like Groupon or living social here.
I have been there and get it yes. My concern with the airbnb..saftey vs a hotel. I like the idea of a caterer to save a few on meals. What I dont get is you're the gurst should your quote people not treat you. Why do we commonly do all the giving. Not all from other countries are rich.
I'm a white man and I panned to go to Nigeria is it safe alone or should I employ a guide male or female
Sassy I almost didn't make it😂
😩😩 Glad you did o 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Air BnB?....how secure are these Air BnBs, guys be practical. I know security in lagos, and Nigeria in general is not the best. If im misguided, please let me know
Its secure, but as always do your research and only book through the app for additional security
Just pick Airbnb’s in areas you feel most comfortable with
