  • One of the distinctive features of any live show by my band ‪@32ndStJazz‬ is our wild mashups, and this one may be the wildest.
It starts off with Mike and Mona playing the main theme of Spring from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, which shifts into the introduction of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
Next the full band kicks in with John Coltrane's intense version of George Gershwin's Summertime, from Porgy and Bess. This is overlaid with elements of both Clifford Brown's jazz standard Joy Spring, along with melodic snippets from Vivaldi and Stravinsky. This leads into Autumn Leaves, with overlaid melodic phrases from Summertime. Then we move into Winter Wonderland, but… that's the wrong winter. There's only one place to from there.
Performed live by 32nd Street Jazz at Driftwood Char Bar in Minneapolis, on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
