Hopefully, you will try adding more of this hue to your wardrobe, and not just in the form of another white shirt or pocket square. White embodies the spirit of summer, and in cold weather, you can still wear winter white on sunny days to brighten up the season. You do have to be somewhat outgoing to wear it, especially in our drab casual culture, but if you’re well dressed, you’ll stand out anyway, so add some individual panache and boldly put on white.

Yes, a video on pairing different shades of white and a video on wearing white suits in the southern US would be greatly appreciated. White trousers are almost as versatile as blue jeans in certain settings. Thanks for another lesson.
Yep. Back in the day (Not sure if still stand now), white suits in southern states was a sign of power and wealth.

I find white to be a bold choice as well, and tips on how to appropriately weave the choice in lack of colour (or splash of it in the case of off-white style) is very much something I wanted more education for, to sophisticate my growing style accordingly.

@@gentlemansgazette Lots of white in your outfit helps to stand out, so if you don't want to draw attention away from a certain guest or spectacle, then to avoid a full on suit. I typically fashion myself with white dress shirts, and prefer the neutral grey or black suits, and save my bold statements for colorful, detailed neck ties. I have simple clothing tastes, as one might expect.
I love wearing white trousers all year long (S/S and sunny A/W days). The film The Great Beauty also taught me that white trousers with a dark jacket in the evening is such a fun way to present myself.
To address the issue of the pockets showing through the white cloth, I found that a cotton canvas fabric works perfect for this. The pockets don't show through, the trouser legs drape nicely, and I've found is it still very breathable in hotter weather.

While visiting Port Douglas (North Queensland) in the summer months, we were browsing through some shops near the harbour and I noticed a white linen suit. It was amazingly light in weight and loosely woven. It would have been incredibly cool. I often regret not buying it because I have never again seen anything like it.
I imagine if you wore something like it with boat shoes and a Panama hat it would be quite comfortable in the heat.

I find white/off-white chinos to be a great perennial option as an Arizonan. Pairs nicely with basically any color and you can go exceptionally bold and look put together in a classical manner or go restrained but still feel comfortable and sharper looking than most other people.
My high school put together a last-minute Spring Formal ball; I had already acquired a vintage '40s tux in black with all the necessary accessories and formalities of a tux for the summer Prom. Thusly, I decided an off-white dinner jacket to change things up was perfect for the Spring ball. Least to say, it did turn some heads, and it was quite new and interesting to wear such a bold colour than my usual dark suits.

Many thanks! I am still new to wearing black tie, hence my religious watching of your channel! I decided to keep with some classics: a dark red, silk rose boutonniere, a white linen pocket square, and discreetly designed Canadian Air Force shirt studs and cufflinks due to my affiliation with the youth Air Cadets up here in Canada. It took forever to find the right shoes, but a thrift store luckily had a perfect pair arrive a few weeks before the Spring ball!

Great video. I love winter white wool Shetland and lambs wool sweaters in the winter. Also, I have a pair of white buck wingtips from Church's Shoes and a white buck pair of plain toe shoes from Nunn Bush for summer. I do have white colored cotton chinos, white shirts, linen trousers and linen shirts. Also, white Levi's 501, and white carpenter jeans. I always contrast my whites by also wearing something with color. I also used to wear an ivory dinner jacket like Bogart in the movie Casablanca. This year I purchased a linen blazer in off white.

When we had to don our whites in Navy boot camp back in the early 1970s, complete with canvas leggings, I was taken aback at how our skivvies were visible through the fabric when out in the sun of Orlando. I also didn't like how six square inches of undershirt were visible at the opening of the jumper top.

At 70 I have always wore white trousers during my lifetime in the Summer months. From White Jeans to white dress slacks. Never having worked in an office setting I have been free of constrictions and dress codes. Always the recipient of compliments to my dress choices. Especially from some
most attractive women. I dress white pants sensibly with shirts, jackets, and sweaters, giving some contrast of color in overall appearance. The old ZZ Top song is true in my experience that girls are crazy 'bout a ' Sharp Dressed Man'.

@Gentleman's Gazette I am planning on having an off white linen suit made for summer wear. I was wondering if you think it would be a good idea to have it made half lined or unlined? I'd like it to be cooler as it gets hot where I live, and I have a low heat tolerance. However, I am worried my shirt colors might show through where it isn't lined. The made-to-measure site I use recommends that the lining be white prevent the contrast see-through effect.

Hi GZ! I love your video's. I have an idea for one by the way. Personally, for ± one year now, I go to the gym six times a week. I am a tall 19 year old, so wanted to use sports an muscles to turn myself from a bit of a long and skinny guy to a "big man". It's working. The problem though, is that I like wearing shirts and that I've noticed I grow out of them more quicker than I would like. Especially how tight the garment is, is changing fast. It feels restricting. Since going to the gym is quite common nowadays, it might form a great video concept.

Interesting perspective, as usual --- but I enjoy wearing my white linen suit in different contexts and I disagree with some of your opinions about styling white suits. Wonder if you have ever done a video focused on white linen suits and various light-colored linen/cotton suits. (I also enjoy my yellow linen/cotton suit, which might not be appreciated by the staff of gentlemansgazette.) Perhaps the fact that I live in Atlanta, GA, now has something to do with the way my clothing has evolved since moving from NY.
