    I daily drive a 2007 Mustang GT, I’m from Orlando and drove it to Daytona, Clearwater . I got it in December with 183k miles now has 189k original motor trans, even clutch. The title says Pennsylvania , but the car has a sticker from a Canton, Ohio dealership. No Rust stock down to the air box. The only thing I’ve changed is the stock loop spark plugs , to Accel step colder plugs and Sr Performance coil packs. Car gets 25-27 MPG highway and 19.6 city .

    Bought mine through work (Universal studios) a special order 2002. 302 , street legal headers, flow master 40s, lowered,TA60 radials on Bullet wheels, Sonic Blue, black leather, 16 speaker sound with dual subwoofers and tinted windows. Had to wait a month, and it was worth it! Since I am a retired mechanic, it still looks like I drove it off the showroom floor. I still get pulled over quite a bit, but no tickets. Yet

    These cars are very reliable. I can't say much for yours since it's got over 200k and an engine swap and a ton of use on it, but as long as it gets you around I guess it's good...OH I did buy a 2002 GT with 165k mile on it and that car definitely showed it's age, and was a big slower. However basic maintenance is easy and if i lived somewhere without a deep winter I'd daily drive a new edge or SN95 all day. cheap, easy to fix.

Early on when I got it went all those miles and never touched anything other than oil changes and brakes.

    I've owned 3 4th gen Mustangs. A 97 I worked on for 5 years before a drunk driver totaled it (I miss it every day), an 04 with every bolt on imaginable that never broke down minus a tie rod. And my current is a Black 01 GT vert. (Same floor mats as yours even) This one also has a lot of work done to it but it is a gem in reliability, I can always go out and count on it to start and drive with no issues. Just need to save up and do a new soft top but all these south Florida shops are so expensive and I don't have the space to do it myself.
    A note to anyone who wants to buy one of these, absolutely do it! However keep note of the front end, you will most likely end up doing Tie rods, ball joints control arms etc. All 3 of mine have needed this done, if you can do it yourself you'll save some decent money. 4th gens from factory didn't have the best front ends apparently. Just finished getting new UPR control arms put on the UPR K member and it's a night and day difference the car feels brand new again.

    I daily drive a 2003 Mustang V6 and a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, which has the same engine as the 1999-2004 Mustang GT. The Grand Marquis has 387,000 miles on the original engine, and still runs like new. It's a good engine. The biggest problem with the Mustang GT is it's hideous ghetto wheels and lack of proper tires. Not only are they ugly as hell, but they won't hold up on normal roads, and the lack of proper tires will literally pound the entire car to pieces. Lowering it makes it 10 times worse. My 2003 Mustang came with 16" wheels, which I replaced with 15" wheels from a 2000 Mustang V6, so I could put real tires on it. They are slightly larger in diameter than the original tires, with much wider sidewalls. It has been fine since I bought it 5 years ago. It has NOT been lowered
    I learned how to drive a stick shift around age 10, in a 1949 Ford farm truck. I have a total of 5 cars, 2 of them are over 50 years old, and run just fine. The older the car, the longer it will likely last, because older cars were designed to be repaired, not replaced. My oldest car is a 1963 Chevy Nova SS. Or at least the body is. Everything else is new. You can't do that with newer cars.

  • @Thatlowdsg
    @Thatlowdsg Před 6 měsíci

    I used to daily mine until usually winter hits in my 04 for a few years and the only issues I ever faced were scrapping exhaust and the clutch cable snapped. One of fords greatest motors and cars to work on that is cheap and easy without needing a million special tools. Only major issue with these is the intake manifolds cracking cause they're plastic and if its a Tr3650 they're usually solid but the T5 transmissions have trouble sometimes going into R or 1st which can be annoying.
    You just have to find a really good previous owner for these or you'll get screwed.

    Because Ford shit the bed, as did all American manufacturers. Those older Ford V8s are damn near bombproof. Only thing to watch out for on these GTs (and Thunderbirds with the same engine) is be careful when changing the spark plugs. If you do it wrong, you'll strip the threads.

      Short ram intakes will make exhaust drone especially at low rpm’s. I experienced this with 4 cylinders cars as well. Best to stick with high quality but expensive cold air intakes where the intake cone is well below the bumper. I wish I had not sold my GT but at he time I didn’t know what to do.

    If you have coil overs, you will scrape on everything. You should not have bought it with the coil overs on it. The car has had way too many mods to it. I can tell you rev it too high when changing gears you are already abuseing the car the way you drive it.

      I just looked up the numbers a base Tesla has a lower top speed(140vs150), slower 0-60 (5.8 vs 5.3) and a nearly identical 1/4 mile (13.8 vs 13.7)

      In comparison to what??? It’s fast compared to a ten speed, it’s slow compared to a fighter jet….It’s an early 2000s mustang, it is what it’s meant to be, cheap reliable great looking fun…With a factory pussy magnet 🧲 and a an aftermarket vibration full exhaust mod…

      You don’t buy a 2v for the drag time, you buy it for a great sounding quick daily that’s fun
