It takes about 7 years to harvest a mature ginseng root, if I'm not mistaken. That makes it one of the most valuable crops for gardeners/farmers.

Pingu was great and yeah, my husband didn’t like the kids watching it because they weren’t actually saying words, but I don’t care. It was awesome. All three of my kids watched it….. awesome video but now I have nothing to watch on my 15 minute break but thanks for being here. I hope you enjoyed the nice weekend days. We had hopefully got out and got some sun before cold week ahead.

My beloved short fin Betta Narziss died two days ago. He had a small wound on his side, developed a bacterial infection and passed away, all within 24h. I've been wracking my brain what I could have done differently or what might have been the cause but all parameters were stable and normal. He had been with me for just 6 month and was my first fish after being out of the hobby for a couple of years. Thank you Chirs and Repashy for providing some distraction... QotW: I used to be really into The Animals of Farthing Wood as a kid.
I've had a molly die out of the blue and was found half eaten from the other mollies... sometimes animals just die.. But I surely rather have it be from something that wasn't my fault. Your betta isn't going to be there your whole life, but at least you were there for his whole life. Rest in peace Narziss.

You're right of course, it was just so very sudden, he was young, he was active, I noticed one evening he was not acting like himself and like I said, 24h later he was gone, despite all my attempts to safe him (including medication etc). Had he died a year or more from now after visibly slowing down, the way it generally happens... I would have still been sad, but not this shocked. I've had a pretty horrific incident happen around the death of my Channa a couple of years back that lead to me giving up the hobby for a bit, Narziss was my fresh start, in a sense. I don't know, he was just special to me. It's nice to know people here understand...

@@exotherm42 understandable we can form such strong bonds with our fish friends. I like to believe some fish run into certain issues because of the domestication process. A lot of domesticated fish are just like certain breeds of dogs that have been domesticated and run into issues. Doesn't mean I'm not going to stop taking care of them, but I certainly will never try to breed them.

Bro, during the late 80's as a 10 year old living in the Boston, Massachusetts area and I went over my friends house who's family was from Cambodia. They lived in a normal, three bedroom apartment.....EXCEPT.....in the kitchen....everything was set up with the stove.....kitchen table......but the Cabinets....They took the doors off the cabinets....had it covered in chicken wire AND HAD like a DOZEN CHICKENS living in the kitchen cabinets with nests and everything....😂😂😂....I'll never forget that..😂

I'm so sorry. Just commented about my Betta Narziss passing two days ago, he was only with me for 6 month and went from healthy to death within 24h. I know to most people it's 'just a fish' but those people will never understand how much joy they bring to us. Rest easy, Guaraci.

@@exotherm42 People don't get it until they have that bond, and most people won't connect with a fish since they see the water and glass as barriers they can't break. But we can, and as long as we care for our buddies, that's ALL that matters. My condolences, friend.

I've been researching pets I think might be cool right now to see what fits my lifestyle and budget. I got lost in a betta fish research hole for the past week and happened to find Fish For Thought on my way down. QOTW: I lived in a part of the country were there wasn't TV until I was in high school. I had no interest in Mr. Ed or Leave it to Beaver, and since we only had that one channel, I never watched TV. Things have changed a lot since I was a kid, including the fact that you can keep fish in a planted aquarium, and get all the parts without leaving home, which is a good thing, because none of the towns around here have aquarium stores. There just isn't enough population here to support one. There's also not enough money here to support one. Most people would rather go into town and get drunk, and go a few miles to Colorado and buy weed. I'd rather buy fish instead of either of those things, so that makes me a bit of an outcast.

I got a beautiful male Jack Dempsy when he swam up to the edge of a pond and looked like he wanted food. We were picnicing so I dumped the contents of our little cooler filled it with water and dropped him in. He was a good size probably 4 -5 years old and barely struggled when I scooped him up. He was very personable and was obviously used to eating out of hand so I don’t know why someone would dump him.
QOTW: this is gonna sound old af but my fav childhood show is Tom and Jerry, and no I’m not 84. For some reason Tom and Jerry would be playing right before I had to take a nap as a kid, so I have vivid memories of watching that everyday before my mid-day nap.
And come on, who doesn’t love Looney Toons? Led me to Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, all the greats!
QOTW I have a lot of favorites but Spongebob definitely takes the cake. Stephen Hillenberg taught marine biology before he made the show so we ended up with so many weird little critters as our characters.

Started watching your Channel in January after the partner agree to a new fish tank.
I was in the planted tank hobby 3-4 years ago, I still have my anubias nana and barteri from my original tank. Now I have a 20 gal long with Anubias Barteri, Anubias Coffeefolia, Anubias Nana, Anubias Nana Petite, Tiger Lotus, Pearl Weed, Rotala rotundifolia, ludwigia narrow leaf, bucephalandra micro, Asian Monosolenium Tenerum, and marimo mossballs. Currently is understocked with my 2 surviving neon tetra, a phoenix rasbora (had a shipping failure), and some yellow neocaridina shrimp. Slowly building my schools of fish back up but already thinking of a new tank of Dwarf frogs and corydoras.
Your channel has given me so much great info and inspiration. Cannot wait for my tank to grow out in hopes of getting that 5/5 on your channel.

The pool tank at 4:05 wouldn't have issues with herons as long as it's 4 ft deep, they're too short for it. :) Or at least it's something my granddad has told me about koi ponds. Its the shallow area's where you'd need a net.
Dude. Alcohol isn't viotile like gasoline. Flamable, yes but it won't explode unless under pressure/heat. It also has to have a high enough precent to be flammable.
This guy saved my female Betta fish from living in a lonely small tank. Now she lives with some guppies in a big tank. There's live plants in there. It don't look good my fish are happy now. Thank you for saving Jazzlin the Betta fish

I had a blater snail tank once.
Started with 5 ended up with hundreds and they somehow were able to make cables out of mucus at one point that connected to the alge on the bottom and the floating plants on top (the only way I could rationalize it). I would see them crawl (in either direction) and rest while suspended in the water.
Reminds me of the hair algea that grew on my snale from the fertilizer excess nutrients in the tank. God I hate hair algae gets stuck to everything and difficult to remove

6:10 Lucky bamboo is not a good choice for shrimp, some say it's root-poisonous. I set up a lucky bamboo tank before, and all the shrimps died. Water parameters were perfect.

QOTW: Favourite show from MY childhood? I was born in 1961 and loved Gilligan's Island as well as My Favourite Martian. Neither of those shows were considered kids' shows but they were my favourites as a kid. Third place was Lost in Space, also not a kids' show.
I would definitely want to get some kind of massive root system plant growing like that. When I have more room I'll put a mangrove in my nano reef, but would love ginseng roots in a tank if it was possible (without the alcohol preservation).
Sky is the limit when it comes to aquascaping ideas... until it's time to add live creatures.
Yeah alcohol is extremely flammable and the fumes are flammable too. The flame can also be much harder to see than a gasoline or propane fire. Thankfully methanol, which can sometimes burn completely clear, is not food safe so they wouldn't use it.
My favorite childhood show was probably a tie between Ed, Edd, n' Eddy and Fosters home for imaginary friends. I watched both pretty religiously.
When I was 5yrs old my favorite cartoon was Mr. Magoo. Now I think it is the weirdest thing for a little kid to love. lol Also, that Ultralife stuff is amazing if you have a cyanobacteria outbreak. Just follow the instructions, and add an airstone.
My favorite show is Pingu 😅 tom and Jerry, Pokémon, Martin Mystery is great as well, adventure time, Mystery Shack, PuppyDog , Steven Universe.
But my most I just can't count are the Japanese Animes.

Just the gas/vapor of alcohol is flammable. Most compounds can't be lit on fire while in liquid state (including gasoline which only the fumes are flammable).

For cyano just do a black out. Chemicals aren't necessary. I've only had cyano once and a blackout fixed it after 5 days.

That ginseng just looks scary. Also, (even) Tsingtao > Heineken. Probably took a lot of Heineken to accidentally discover ginseng thrives in your empty tank. Love for the table it sits on though. I'm certain the owner is a short balding uncle walking around in red shorts to show off his beer belly. It's mostly that marble floor. Dude, how do I send in one or more of my tanks for your visual inspection? I like your honesty. You must have a stray Dutch ancestor somewhere along the line. "It looks amazing" is just so non-constructive - yawn. I consider "amazing" entry level expectations. I would appreciate your input. And / or roasting.
You do know ginseng is also native to NA? Its worth a lot of money and people here in WV go searching for it and when you find a patch you should only take the mature ones, a lot of people just grab it all so they can make more money but then it's not there again next year.

There were other shows such as Invader Zim, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Rocco's Modern Life, SpongeBob SquarePants, Catdog, Kai Lan, Dora the Explorer, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Pink Panther, Kamen Rider, and Power Rangers that I remember watching but doesn't like very much because I either have no interest or found them in the middle of the plot with no knowledge of what happened before the episode I found.

The alcohol is not high enough proof to burn.Its not "wine" like it translates to often...its distilled but not distilled to that high of a proof.Has be 60% alcohol or so to be the kind of fire danger you speak of
