    I bought my g7 back in 2017, I love it so much, I learned photography with it and at the time I wanted to get into filmmaking (never really got into it in the end) and this was the perfect package for me. But now, I still love it, bought a couple more lenses, but since I'm more interested in photography and I have adult money, I'll be getting a camera with a higher resolution like the Sony a7 iv or the Sony a7r iv.

    i got a g7 a couple of years ago because I wasn't satisfied with the phone pictures during my holidays. I had the 14-140 lens which is EXTREMELY versatile and this year I got a sigma 30mm prime lens specifically for work related shots, video and a couple of portraits, why not. I used it A LOT, like I start to take my camera even for a stroll through the woods maybe I get a nice shot, is all used up, lots of scratches and dents but the photos are as sharp as ever. The thing is that you really need to get to know your camera, all the functions, all the settings and how to properly use it before you look for something more expensive. I'm not looking for a replacement anytime soon. In fact if the photos will look as good as they look at the moment, I might use it a lifetime.

    Great video Seez! I have an observation. Canon released a software called Canon EOS Webcam Beta about 2.5 years ago, that allows you to use Canon EOS cameras as old as the 70D, to livestream through the USB 2/3 port. This bypasses any expensive elgato capture card. Yes HDMI is a clean out. You can also hack the G7 for endless 4k internally too.

    • @SeezSantos
      @SeezSantos  Před 2 lety +1

    This camera is available for $500 brand new here in my country, so literally still the best camera in that price point (if u don't want used cams ofc)
    I got one for myself around 2 years ago, and it served me well so far. I keep switching it as my main cam, as well as my streaming cam.
    I'm thinking of upgrading to a Sony Alpha later this year, and then this G7 would permanently become my stream cam after that.
    If somebody asks me is the G7 still valid in 2022, I'd say yes, it's totally still valid. Not the best cam out there but it's great enough for beginners

    But these are my questions on lumix G7
    1. Can I record internally at the same time streaming from it hdmi output while on battery power?
    2. Can I record internally at the same time streaming from it hdmi output while using a dummy battery connected to AC power for hours shooting?
    3. Will the zoom information appear on the hdmi output screen when I zoom in and out on the kit lense while streaming from it hdmi output even when clean hdmi Is turned on ?
    4. What is the zoom level in terms of "X" as they are indicated on camcorders like "25x" when using the kit lense that comes with the lumix G7? I ask this because I will be shooting from a distance when doing live stream.
    5. Will the lumix G7 overheat or shut down under outdoor live streaming operation under the sun when using dummy battery AC power?
    6. Which lense will be good to use with lumix G7 when shooting from a distance where zooming is essential?
    7. Can I disable automatic sensor cleansing while doing a live streaming?
    8. Can I record internally to an mp4 format?
    9. Does it have video record time limit when using dummy battery AC power for long hour shooting?
    10. What's the big difference between the GH and the G series of the lumix

      @SeezSantos  Před rokem

      This is a loaded question! Since there are so many cameras that are worthy to be called "cinema" cameras. There is definitely no one size fits all answer to this question. Like do you need to shoot in 10-bit or 16-bit video? What codec do you need to shoot on for color grading and giving it the cinematic look you're going for in your project? What frame rates are you looking to capture high-quality video? What are you willing to sacrifice in the means of usability like autofocus and low light performance. And last but not least what is your budget? That will be the end all be all to answer the rest of the questions you need to know!

      If we are talking BRAND NEW out of the box apples-to-apples comparison the ZVE10 is the better option than the G7. Just keep in mind that both cameras are 8BIT so if you were looking for something more "cinematic" I would look into 10BIT capable cameras.
      The ZVE10 is very similar to the a6000 series of cameras. But If you're looking for a camera that shoots a higher FPS the ZVE10 shoots 120FPS. The only downside I'd say is the cost of SONY lenses. Also, no IBIS on both options so if you were looking for image stabilization you're out of luck there.

      The G7 does pretty well for photography but if you are really looking to take some great photos you're going to want to look at cameras that have a larger sensor. Depending on your budget you can find some great used full-frame cameras like the Canon 6D Mark 1 or 2, or a Sont A7ii,
      The ability to capture more light data from larger sensors as is what makes most modern full-frame cameras better at photography. But most of these cameras are caped to 1080p 30fps for video and are not super video-focused but it's there if you need it.

    I know this question is sort of off topic, but when you mentioned using it for church, I knew I had to ask, since that’s going to be one of my purposes with the camera.
    1. Is the lease that it comes with good enough for church and podcast streaming? I’ll be using it for both.
    2. I’m looking at external mics. So far, I’m stuck between the Rode VideoMic Go and the Rode VideoMic Pro. Do you have any recommendations?
    So far, I’ve been shooting church videos on my iPhone. I’ve not started video podcasts yet. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance & Blessings!

    • @SeezSantos
      @SeezSantos  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey! the kit lens depending on which one you get is great for live streaming. Just be aware that they are not the fastest lenses but they can get the job done.
      As for shotgun mics like the ones you mention I've owned an older version of the Video Mic go and it broke after a few months.
      I've heard good things about the build quality as well as the features of the Rode VideoMic Pro. Shotgun mics like these are good for close-up conversations or if you planning to use It with a boom mic stand as I do in my setup. But if your looking to shoot a podcast with it I would recommend getting separate microphones for each person and using a shotgun mic for scratch audio or backup audio in case something were to happen during recording.
      Let me know if you have any more questions! I completely missed this question the other day when you posted it!

      @@SeezSantos Thank you so much! Your advice is very helpful! I’m curious you have a recommendation on church setting. Like if I were to shoot a particular song. Their sound wouldn’t be running through me, so I’d need an external mic. What would you think about a rode video mic pro for this?

    • @SeezSantos
      @SeezSantos  Před 2 lety

      @@apostolicclips of course any time!
      so in the case you are talking about above, you wouldn't need to use a shotgun mic at all since it sounds like you will be running it to some sort of video/audio capture system that will be getting the high quality and your video through HDMI that will sync and stream. So their job would be to make sure that the audio and video are synced correctly. The shotgun mic can be used for scratch audio or backup audio in the case that something fails.
      If your only source to capture audio is through the shotgun mic the audio it's going to pick up is going to sound very faint and far away. Does that make sense to you?

    • @SeezSantos
      @SeezSantos  Před 2 lety +1

      yes if you are recording internally it will stop recording after 29 mins (unless you unlock the camera)
      However in a live stream setup where you're using an external device like a Cam Link 4K or an ATEM Mini Pro you can leave your camera on (while not recording internally) for as long as you need to.
      You will obviously need some external power to keep your camera from dying.

    Oh and the autofocus -- its shit. No firmware updates to fix it.
    Micro 4/3rds is great but save up and get a black magic or the gh5.
    It is awesome for pics tho! And you literally adapt any lense to it such as c mount, fd mount, ef mount etc.

      I completely understand where your coming from. I have several other pieces of content that go over using what you have like smart phones and what not to create content.
      At the end of the day it’s up to you to create things with what you have! The G7 is still to this day great for video. You just need to understand it’s limitations. Like using auto settings. I would avoid that at all cost with any camera?
      Even on an iPhone you can get better image quality by selecting the proper exposure using an app like filmic pro than the standard camera app.
      The cameras available on most new phones also have there own limitations as well. That can be a whole topic of discussion for another video but that’s still no excuse to not use what you have to create content!

      This is a tough comparison! But they both use the same sensor and can shoot 4k vidoe but you don’t have any way of connecting an external microphone to the GX85. My the details the gx85 is more photography focused with the ability to shoot video. You also don’t get the CINE color profiles on the GX85. I haven’t had a lot of recent experience with handheld camcorders but for the most part for your case you want to have to have the ability to zoom in quite a bit as well as good image stabilization. Also having 4K resolution can drive the price up on these as well.
