  • @tankslawnmaintenance5230

I live in the metro Augusta Georgia area. Your prices are a little on the low side of what the average in our area is, which is due to you being in a different area of the state than me. My area is choked full of hoa subdivisions and gated communities. We have all walks of life living here. Anywhere from doctors and lawyers, to active duty and retired military, to blue collar workers. The bottom line is that 80 or 90% of the people in my area don't shop around for the best price. They look at your business reputation, dependability, and the services you provide. Most people hire lawncare providers because they just don't have the time or room to store equipment, or they just want to take advantage of what free time they have. If you do good work, stay honest and dependable, then you can make serious money in my area. Most of my customers call me because their last guy stopped coming out, or they do not communicate when they can't come when scheduled. No matter where you live or what you do, the money is out there. It's up to you to go get it.

GM Johnny!!! I see you have learned your lesson on “the walk of shame” and have extra string in your pocket 😆. That 36’ Toro is getting you in tight spots and I know you are loving it. I have one question for you, did you feel you getting more power with a gas blower than a battery powered blower? I see your edger and string trimmers are battery and was wondering why you use a backpack blower with a battery.

have you ever figured out your over head. that is cost of all your equiment, truck, mower trimers, blower, gas, all of the insurance both truck, liability, your wage, maintenance on equiment, replacement, and profit for the company. That is so in five years when your truck is shot you can buy a new one $40,000 E truck with out meed a $38,000 car loan I did not see how long that took you but you also have time to and from to add into the cost.

As a fellow Floridian to most who will say what you're charging is never seen, I have to agree with them and disagree with the ending statements on this video. For anyone in the Northern states, or where cost of living index is higher then avg, realize that what is $50 where you are is $25 in other places. YES, working people can afford to hustle and pay premium prices. NO, retired people on fixed incomes have another thing to say about your pricing. Where this man screws up is saying it is possible to get that price anywhere and location doesnt matter. You want us to target certain areas??? Ok.. what about when you're surrounded in any direction 1 hr away in a full circle, by retired and fixed income people or where if you ask any local company, the man hour rates are usually $30 per hour because if you go over that, you're pricing yourself to flat broke. Because over 70% of the population is going to tell you its not that you're not worth anything more.. it's that they can't afford anything more. Florida is a retirement and disability state. Yes we grow more year round then other places but florida's wages vs other state's wages are NOT similar. I can take this further into Florida turf pros, who is in northern florida. One of his videos slipped up showing a payment and time duration of service on a customer was revealed for a split second and if you ran the numbers, his rate was 60ish a man hour. That's where I'm priced but I do alot of things other companies don't do. And i feel the heat on customer affordability. And if you're getting customers saying that either you're too cheap or too expensive.. then you're ideally priced right in the middle. Which means a select few can afford you and the majority will appreciate the work you do over "MOST" others and if it's truly worth it to them, since you cost more, they will stick with you. What you just did in this video, these yards are almost perfectly identical to The Villages FL. What you just did 55 per yard you would ONLY get 20 for. And if you said even $10 higher your reputation would be on the line as not a bad quality service provider but a overpriced selfish *YA KNOW WHAT*. Highway robbery terms have been used before. So yes everyone MUST understand that ones numbers is not another man's numbers, but stating "YES GUYS YOU CAN you just have to target the RIGHT areas" and ASSUMING those areas are just everywhere, is miscalculated and incorrect. But even with respect to Florida Turf Pros, if you evaluate his cost of living index vs other areas, it is higher then most others in Florida. So therefore charging more per hour still puts him in the same ball park as the poor man. But when milk is $5 a gallon in the poor mans area that'll support $30 per man hour and is also $5 in the area that is supported by $60 a man hour or $120 per man hour, who really is the one on top here? Location DOES matter, and demographics matter more and it's not all roses and chocolates in any given area. THERE ARE limitations. I'd really like to see some of these CZcamsrs come to my area with their mindset and make it the same way they did where they are now. Like 100% I'm already priced at the top end. You try and double that to these guy's standards, and you'll see your business's death certificate and your divorce papers.
**EDIT** Just occurred to me, when talking about demographics... let's for instance use the economy here.. You look at the income capita in your area by each surrounding city plus the one youre operating in. Let's say that avg is 20-30k. Household at best is 30-40k. RENT or MORTGAGES running about $1500 to $2k, so let's say living household expenses not counting ANYTHING else is $24-26k. thats leaving in the first example per capita.. NO INCOME to $4k at best and we haven't even went into transportation yet. On the higher end of household income that is leaving 6k to 16k for other life expenses. Do you really think they going to pay your $200 a month or $2400 a year out of that money??? Nope. Surely not. So you really get people who just CAN'T work.. what is disability, $1k monthly?? What is S.S? If they collect that too, $2k maybe at best?? (per individual) So you're client's average income will be barely making it to live.. which is why $100 per account is what you're LUCKY to pull out of a client and thats for people COMPLETELY unable to actually service their own property. So they have no choice but to pay. And when you're surrounded by this situation, this is where the problem lays with what "successful" lawn people have to say about what you're worth. And this is what everyone lawn man needs to understand about your specific demographic. Like, if you were willing to drive to your job up to 1 hour away, you should target up to that far away for your lawn business. But even if within 1 hour away the "income" demographics don't change.. then you have to understand people's income, the same as your own, and find the sweet medium.
