    Thanks for the very informative video. Your PCV suggestions just helped me fine tune my 1946 CJ2A to run perfectly. Mine was totally clogged-cleaned it and now it idles like a new engine! Keep the videos coming.

    I've found another 'noise' that can drive you crazy. A heat riser getting noisy. I had a car that needed to have its heat riser replaced twice! Drove me insane!

    Had an issue with the PCV valve on my M37, it’s something few people ever look at when their engine won’t run properly, but it can make the truck almost un-drivable if it’s not functioning correctly.

    Great vid , I was getting a misfire on the run down through gears and it was driving me mad until I saw this vid so bought a new one and jeep ran smooth no misfire ! I have bought an original and cleaned the other two up just incase 😉 .

    I have the same annoying clicking/tapping and I have adjusted the tappets and when that didn't help, went back in and tried to adjust again but they were all good. The butterfly valve in the carb is another good place to check. I don't have a PCV on mine, just the vent tube that runs down by the oil pan. Gonna give it a look. Thanks

    I am surprised that your Jeep has a PCV system, as I only read of it being used only in tank engines in WWII. Having said that it makes sense that Jeeps and military trucks would also be similarly equipped. PCV systems did not appear in civilian cars and trucks until the late 50's. I remember draft tubes on engines from the early to mid 50's.

    I replaced my pcv valve two months ago it was slightly backfiring on rundown of gears , so replaced valve backfiring stopped it runs great 👍 but ! I’ve noticed a ticking noise when idling and a noise when I’m driving ! Could it be faulty pcv valve ? Or the gasket needs replacing on the cone would that make a difference? What do u think ? Get another pcv ??

    Your "Not fit for combat" statement got me to look at your video, After WWII I am sure there were lots of little improvements that could have been and I am sure were made to the Jeeps to improve on driving, pulling, starting and stopping. During the war the Jeep needed to be reasonably reliable for as long as it was needed. Your statement of NOT being fit for combat needs to be checked or maybe you could explain THAT statement to the 250,000 Jeeps that were used in the war with pretty good success, one of the things some folks done realize about the Jeep is that in an active combat unit the Jeep had a life expectancy of 3 and a half minutes, and in combat zones that was the expected life span of many vehicles! Not very long a time to be wondering about improvements!

    Hi Matt, I notice there is a small needle on the end of my new PCV valve which mine and your originals didn't have. You can see the needle on an drawing if you search 'L134 PCV Valve'. What effect do think this would have?

    Nice to see you traced the noise, there is nothing more annoying than an unidentifiable clicking like that, I have a vibration rattle on mine at certain revs, but I have yet to find what causes it, the answer is to get it on a rolling road where you can have a look all around, Jeeps are well known for untraceable noises, I just drive with the screen down, much quieter then.

      I have a rattle too but it is because I have a paper filter in my air filter, the bracket where the rod in the original element would go is free to rattle without the element fitted, its a bit of a pain but I might go back to the original element and get rid of it!

      Thinking it may be interesting to get the jeep on a rolling road and check carb with o2 sensor? See how good the factory set up is.

      Greendot 319 yes because there is 0 information to be found about that im really intrested in how you secured your electrical system with fuses and perhaps you can combine it with a dash switch episode and fuel tank sender ?
      Just ideas ;)

    Hi I have been working on the fuel line as getting allot of bubbles in the fuel pump (broke down ). Took it all apart cleaned and replaced filters gaskets etc. Much better now but get the odd bubble appear in the pump glass bowl, is yours the same...is this normal ....did I not prime it correctly or is air still seeping in (possibly top nut gasket fuel filter. There is no visible signs of fuel leakage. Thanks Dave

      Hi Dave, Its ok for a few bubbles to appear but if there is a continuous stream then thats not great and you'll need to find the source, it is usually just the bowl gasket but could be any line/fuel filter upstream of the pump so you'd have to go along and check and tighten everything again but as I mentioned just a couple from in the bowl is not a problem and probably just the bowl gasket.

      Hi, It's only a few bubbles I'm seeing, I did have continuous. I was not sure what the norm is. I'm getting ready to take the Jeep into France next month (Vimy Ridge) on my own (will have the AA cover just in case) so want limit any potential issues that might arise. I will be take a good array of spares. Thanks for putting my mind at rest with this. Cheers Dave

      Sounds good Dave, make sure to take a spare fuel pump (JMP?), have you taken the jeep on a long (over 30 mile run) with a few hot stops and restarts to iron out any creases?

      Yes, been doing some long runs, with hot starts (new 6v Battery fitted).The plan will be to carry as many spares as possible. I have cut out a section in the bottom of a spare fuel can for hand tools (folding axle stand) and spares. It's surprising how much can be packed into this space (in my case unused), and they are totally hidden away.
      I have been planning this trip (just one vehicle) for some while, and would love to have the Jeep parked on the morning of 23rd Aug at Vimy Ridge, which will be a hundred years on that my great uncle Percy was killed in action. Then we will visit his grave in Adanac Cemetery (in the middle of the Somme), and finally finish the day at Ypres for the last post. It's our own personal tribute ' One Man, One Day......amongst many Men & Woman over may days'.

    Eliminate sucking air from your oil dipstick your oil and pvc will stay clean no dirty gummy oil in engine.
