  • Developing my own indie game (exergame) with the Unity game engine with my treadmill that has an arduino incorporated to it. Would love to hear ideas. This is mainly showing a speed test that I made. I also talk about the suggestions I got from the Unity forum for game design and would love to hear more suggestions.

How about something like the flash superhero? In combination with the game mechanic of temple run(mobile game). You could use left right input from the mouse for the turns. Mission objectives could be to rescue hostages or to get as fast as possible to a bomb to deactivate it(would also be a funny minigame with handtracking)

Hi! Very cool to see someone working on this stuff, have you made any progress since this video? Zwift is alright I guess, but I'm sure it would be feasible to make a much more enjoyable single-player experience with gaming more in mind.
Also, how did you get the Arduino to measure the speed? I'm a complete Arduino noob. I like the solution you've got with counting ticks and replacing the keyboard (I guess that's what you're doing), but is there a reasonably simple way to gather that info and send that signal back to your pc?
Again, very cool project, hope you're still working on it :)

I’m not a designer, but I think that mechanic might be used in a certain sort of game locations as a resource gatherer. Let’s say a player may use a keyboard and mouse set for trivial ingame actions and make use of treadmill, when his character enters special zones, where some resources must be gained (like Fifteen Million Merits in Black Mirror) I would also play a racing game driving the Flinstones-like automobile. Удачи в твоём начинании😁✌️

" racing game driving the Flinstones-like automobile." - That's a hilarious suggestion! I'd definitely consider it along the road :) Yabadaba du! running competition is on the checklist for sure ^^ I'm starting to get an "olympics" game vibe which is exactly my angle.
"Let’s say a player may use a keyboard and mouse set for trivial ingame actions and make use of treadmill, when his character enters special zones, where some resources must be gained " Hmm I don't know about that, if I'm doing a treadmill-game concept I would want players to use a treadmill all the time. Playing a lot of triple A games I get bored during cutscenes and when I have to wait; so the one thing I take from those games is that once I'm on the treadmill, I wanna use it all the time with minimal resting
