I like the way you mulch that grass down with multiple passes. That’s a high quality job.

I have used one of these for brush cutting with a blade. Poor mans clearing saw. Using .95 line is WAY small for this machine. I’d also recommend an Echo speed feed 450 head. You can use Stihl’s .118 line and it will work and feed fine. You can take a drill bit and mod the square hole in the center to fit point .131 line. Thicker Line on a machine that powerful will bring dividends. I have a FS111R that’s my daily driver, and a KM-131 I use mostly as an edger and pole saw. My 111 with .105 line can get through most things and with a tri blade gets through those 1” jobs. Bigger than that I’m using a circular blade with chain saw teeth. Works as a tandem in that case. Run the tri blade on the 111 to get the grass and small woody stuff low and cleared/see rocks etc. then the 131 with circular chain saw toothed blade on small trees. Works great and no head changes.

Reminds me of my twenty year old FS-250R but I use mine for clearing brush and saplings. Levels everything green and growing even up to four inches in diameter. Doesn't stop it.

I use mine about 3-5 hours/week for clearing grapevines and saplings in my pine plantation. Works great, especially with the Forester saw chain type blade. Great fuel efficiency. I did just have to go ahead and cut a hole in the spark arrestor because it clogs up quickly.

Strange to see this machine used without a fully body harness which is supplied as standard at least in the uk.Also, wouldnt dream of using it with 2.4mm cord, probably at its optimum use used with 2.7mm square cord, but will also cope well with square 3mm cord as long as you're not asking it to cut 1 foot+ high grass-which then needs either the plastic tri-cut blade plastic head or a grass blade.

If your yard is relatively small and the grass is manageable, even a 94R with a 95/105 (2.4/2.7 mm) line will handle it. That said, I favor bigger (240 and 560) trimmers with bike handles to save my back and speed through tough grass.

Bad practise in shorts (ppe) also try tapping the head down instead of revving the head of it, use a single brace for easier movement!

i just bought one of these but havent used it and now think i should go for the bigger one fs261 i've got steep gullies cant get the mower in and prob a hectare of it maybe and thick stuff tall some saplings mostly weed grass 5 foot high, will this one do the job? or will the bigger one do it much quicker? Also the 240 is 6,9 kg not 8 and there is no 240c.

.130 works fine with an FS240r or the 240. Get a 36-2 trimmer head with .130 line and nothing stops it! I also have an FS131R with a durocut 20.2 head. One day I couldn't find my trimmer line and I looked around and I saw my DR Trimmer mower. The DR trimmer uses .155 or .175 trimmer line. I got the .155 line, cut it into the correct length for the 20.2 trimmer head and tried it in the 20.2 head. Much to my surprise it actually fit. I didn't think it would! I started the FS131R with the .155 line and holy crap. It would perfectly. You should see that rip through 4' tall grass! I don't plan on doing this more because it's probably not good for the FS131R. It did a great job in a pinch.

Have you had any problems with the muffler getting clogged. My cutter gets clogged. What would be the problem

I have a 240. From the dealer it was set super rich. To the point oil residue was dripping down the housing around the exhaust. 5 min with a screwdriver and mix was set properly and the machine runs properly now. After that remove the muffler and burn the screen clean with a propane torch (don’t worry about the heat, the screen handles it just fine, but don’t use an acetylene torch, too hot). My 240 is an animal with a brush blade. Too heavy for yard weed-eating though, my 110 gets that duty.

Remove the screen on the exhaust. Re-tune carb. Problem solved
