- We hung out with Trek-sponsored Rider Kiel to see how abused his bike is after a full season of use. You'll be amazed at how "unloved" his Checkpoint is.

Disconcerting. No, not the chips on the frame finish, the fact that left and right sound is the other way around to the picture! I know, I know, some people are never happy ... Always enjoy these , keep doing them :-)
I'll make sure it's perfect on the next vid. I honestly didn't notice that when editing.
@@DavidEverettshoddycycling No big deal, just nitpicking :-)
More bikes should look like this one! Mine too.
Love Dave, Love Kiel. Cycling Tips… not so much anymore. Long live the Escape Collective!!!
Why?
@@hannorasmusholtiegel6044 Cycling Tips parent company sacked almost their entire writing and podcast production staff. After years of developing a “relationship” with that crew, it’s hard for me to look at CT in a positive light.
@@wearesleepingsoundly ohh, that's so sad. I really like the guys presenting the bike reviews. That's fucked
This was great! Thanks!

Love Shoddy Dave, surprised he hasn’t joined the escape collective
Yeah, shame that he is missing from the escape collective team - perhaps he will do in time. 🤞
@@davidbigio1508 Escape are doing a great job. Miss the many good people but you'll notice video isn't a priority there. Thankfully it is here at CT still and I can't tell you how thankful I am for that. I'll keep bringing the vids. It sure is different but we're building a good team.
The big question is how long until the overlords at outside delete this comment
A tip for next time is to synchronize the stereo audio with video and make sure they match
the L/R mismatch with the video threw me off lol
Seems like a really cool dude.
In the world of electric guitars, a brand called Fender releases a ‘Road-Worn’ series of guitars. Comes out of the factory looking as if it had tremendous amount of use.
Casey Neistat would customise his brand new Ray Ban Wayfarers to look beat up.
As much I love bikes, I think I love them more when I ride them more and it gets even better with having chips and dings here and there ❤
A bikes not properly yours until you christen it with a chip or two. then you can ride it properly. - Dave
Does he need to swap out the derailleur too if you change to a the bigger cassette (10-52)
I'm guessing he would, and change. That's the beauty of the SRAM AXS set up. No need to rewire stuff. Just a new RM and chain and away you go. Mullet style, like his hair! - Dave
What size!!!
Does not surprise me a pro gravel guy fits a 20mm longer stem and bars to fit shoulder width and a bigger chain ring and bars as low as can go. I bet he lowers his stem 10mm (10mm more than stock) for the twisty courses. It does make the bike more flickable. 20mm over would be too much then. I've been using Time peds for 2 decades now in mtb. Good float for the knees and they clear very well in mud. And seem to last ages, even the cheap models.
I'm just testing Times road pedals, and I have to say that I'm super impressed. I've been on Shimano for decades now, but the float on the Time's is wonderful. = Dave
Wait.."pro" gravel riding is a thing? 🙄
It sure is now, sorry to break the sad news ;) - Dave
