- Sharing an incredible find of antique English lace plus a beautifully crafted fold out cantilever wooden sewing box. Accompanied by a hail of beautiful embroidered doilies, crochet doilies, embroidered tablecloths and fabrics from a wonderful op shop or opportunity shop nearby.
For those not familiar with op shops or opportunity shops, they are also known as thrift stores or charity shops overseas. For me they are an Aladdin’s cave of treasures to use in my slow stitch or slow stitching.

Another great Thursday haul! The sewing box was a very good find, and you've picked up some lovely doilies and fabrics too. Love the little table with your previous makes and the cake stand of threads.

Thank you Christine for sharing your lunchtime shop with us and oh my goodness, beautiful box ,it looks very well made, but to find all those fabrics and at such a price, wow. There is nothing like this where I am in the UK doily wise. I think everyone is slow stitching. Plenty of vintage linen on eBay but at a price. Even Corrine (to be treasures) who is in another part of Australia was saying that her sources are drying up. When you see lovely fabric buy it Christine, you make such beautiful projects with your goodies.

Wow such great finds. Sewing box is supper sweet. My father in-law has made me one and I use for all well some of my threads it’s great. Take to class with me such a useful box. Gosh so many finds, have a wonderful week and thank you for showing us your treasures. Love these videos as I get a little lost when faced with sewing secondhand things. This gives me ideas on what to buy and we’re to look in stores, always a fun thing to do. Thank you again for sharing with us all. ❤
How survival to have one made for you by your father in law 💛 And happy to share my second hand inspiration/ there’s so much out there to be given new life and it’s the ultimate in reusing and recycling 🤗

Those funny cross shaped doilies are bread clothes. We used to buy them in the 80s and 90s for counted cross stitch done with removable grids. I'll send you some pictures of books from that time. I have that sewing box!! And that unopened lace on the card is just gorgeous!❤❤ Check your email.😊

Yes, that was a wonderful lunch-stop op shopping experience! I'm actually jealous that you could find all that in 1 trip. I can never find doilies like that unless theyre at the antique thrift shop and nobody told them they were supposed to be lower priced. I have found 1 large doily like the one you showed that has the 2 different size circles and then the half-circle around the edge. Mine was a bit bigger than yours but I paid a whopping $15.00 for it! I treasure it and use it sparingly but I'll never do that again! I just love all those doilies! And the sewing box? Very good find! Maybe you could use that as your traveling box? It will sit at your feet in the car (when Alex is driving) or in the sitting room or porch chair. Thanks for showing us all these beautiful finds! I know you'll have lots of funwith them. Oh my i almost forgot about the super find in that antique lace. That was incredible. I got a sewing box almost exactly the same from my local opshop a couple weeks ago. Mine has the makers name on it. It was made in healesville, Victoria. Mine might be a bit smaller but otherwise almost the same. Mine has retro laminex on the tops. Love it

Yes they are. Mine has obviously been used for something other than sewing though
and as such has some damage to the inside timbers. I need to do some work on that
before I can use mine for sewing items. Nothing too drastic but it needs to be fixed. 🙂
That way you can add your own touch and character to it 🤗
Such a beautiful haul! And that cantilever box will be so handy (I have one my gran left me, and it’s so useful - I use it mostly for bead and thread storage)
The fabric you show at 15:23, could that be used for painting? The different enclosed “cells” in the pattern could make that very interesting.

This was fabulous! Thank you for showing us your treasures. That wooden sewing box is wonderful! I'll have to watch for one. My brother has a small antique shop in rural Oklahoma, so perhaps he can help me.
I especially love the fabric bundles and ones with writing. Is it difficult to cut out some of the fine lace without it starting to come apart?
Thanks @@kayherstedt6618 - you’re lucky to have a brother in the antique business - I’m sure he could keep an eye out. They’re also sometimes available on Facebook marketplace here but always at higher prices than what I paid at the op shop. With the antique lace I usually use a strip of it and it is fine. With the doilies, most of them don’t unravel when you cut them. I haven’t tried the more stringing design ones yet so will report back 🧵💙🪡 cheers, Christine
