  • As promised, I'm bringing you a tour of my little basement gym! It truly has everything I need, and as someone who has gone to the gym for 12+ years, I never thought a home gym would work for me.
    But man, I love my little setup! And unlike a lot of home gyms out there, I built mine on a very small budget (under $3,500) spread out over the course of a year. I'm breaking down everything I have and giving some recommendations if you're looking to build your own home gym.
    I will definitely be uploading more home gym videos for you guys, but in the meantime, come hang out with me on Instagram for more: / cheatdaydesign

    I knew you are genius when I saw the leg extension curl machine. It's my favorite.

    Awesome video! Very practical setup. Never understood people's need to spend 2-3 times as much for Rogue equipment for strictly personal use. Loved the clips about the mirrors. I can only imagine what you were thinking when they started to fall.

    Excellent video. Putting together a home gym turned out to be a very worthwhile investment for me as well. I've never been a huge fan of the chain health club experience, I'm too old for an over the top old school lifters' gym and, while I'm not overly fearful of Covid, our local YMCA would have been just the place to get it. I'd say we've spent roughly the same amount as what you quoted. No high-end Rogue items, except for a 3x3 strip I put together with some other Rogue hardware and random components to make a leg extension that attaches to the rack (rack is a Titan T3). Integrated Titan low row and lat pulley system, a variety of attachments, and adjustable and a flat bench, rubber flooring, an Olympic bar and weight set, adjustable dumbbell set, Titan Viking press, Titan dip bar and a few other items round it out. Nice work.

    Wow Matt! Looks like you have a great efficient setup for function and variety! I'm always looking for ideas/hacks like you are giving. Have you given a sample of your most used routine (days/sets/reps) anywhere?

    For those who need a spotter, try floor presses and laying bumper plates to hold the weights if you drop them. You can just slide under the bar if you need to drop. I do bjj so I don’t mind less range of motion.

    Good video. Didn't know about the DB cappers. I also have been eyeballing the plate loaded functional trainer. Good to see it in a video. Would like to see maybe some workouts with it to see how it functions.

    How does the Valor BD-61 do with lighter weight (15-20 lbs for example)? I've seen some reviews saying that it does not return to the starting position easily unless loaded with considerable weight.

    Nice set up and demo to add additional functionality for your power rack. Just one question, is your rack bolted to the floor as I remembered that 2x2 11 or 9 gauge steel rack that Tita once sold? It’s too bad they didn’t create accessories for that style rack.

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  Před rokem

      I actually now have it attached to pulley towers which makes it really sturdy, so I don’t need to have it bolted. There’s a pulley tower video on my channel if you want to see that setup!

    Just bought lever arms that are 2.35 inches and my rack is 2x2… can you give me ideas that you used to make them snug?

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  Před rokem

      I ended up buying some wood at Home Depot and getting it cut to the right measurements I needed to make it snug. I just used some duct tape to secure it to the arms and it worked really well. Certainly not the "best" solution but I never had any issues. Your local hardware store will have tons of difference thickness/width options for wood so you should be able to find some that will fit for your case, and theyre super cheap so you can always do a little trial and error until it feels right
