Any other philodendron fans out there? There’s nothing like them, with their large showy leaves, to give a tropical vibe. Philodendron Imperial Red is no different. Here I’m sharing how to care for & successfully grow this shiny-leafed beauty.
The Philodendron Imperial Red is a relatively new hybrid. It, along with other philodendrons like congo, rojo congo, & prince of orange, were bred to be houseplants. They grow tight to the center (with a single base) with a more upright & neater rather than spreading growth habit.

If I was watching this half awake I would have thought that Susan Sarandon is quite the gardener.

I just picked one up in a bargain bin for $3! Not a mark on it. New plant for me as I usually gravitate toward Bromeliads. Thanks for the information 🇦🇺

Thank you! I have one. I've had it about a year and during late summer into fall I really struggled with it. Not sure what was wrong, but I changed it's location and it's doing really well now... and getting big!!

Hello! Yesterday I bought one half prize in relatively good condition because I wanted to rescue him. Guess he will feel fine between my two north windows in the bedroom- we will see. Also i want to plant him in mineral instead of earth because of my allergy against fungus. Thank you very much for your nice video👍

I love mine. I've got it outdoors under a60% shade cloth. It's actually growing really well. I love it. I live in Alabama and the humidity is out of this world. Plants love it. Mosquitoes love it. I don't 😂

Thanks for the info Nell, Love Philodendron Imperial Red. I will definitely order this plant again, last month I ordered it from Netherlands and it died because of the shipping when it's cold weather.

I do Heather. Here's a post I did about it: www.joyusgarden.com/compost-for-houseplants/ Easy does it though - don't apply too much or too often. Nell
