So glad that you had a good experience attending Mass! The important thing is to know and understand the parts where one kneels. Those are very holy and reverent moments. You’ll appreciate it much more once you know!
You stand up for reverence when you pray, sing, listen in Jesus presence, you kneel in worship when the sacrificial lamb of God is offered up and we asked God for mercy and the rest of the time we sit to listen.
Oh how lovely and you have just scratched the surface. When to mass in Assisi turned to a person and said "Peace be with you" she said the same in another language. At that moment I will filled with peace. The mass is alive with God's presence.
our parish has a priest who sings through the whole thing stuff he composed himself cause he says when you sing you pray twice. and they are easy to learn so we sing with him. I'm catholic, converted in 2018. Yes my brother, you are so right and it's hysterical listening to your reactions. My first reaction to catholicism was that catholics were cannibals, because the wafer and the wine were so real and really became the blood and body of Christ. What's really amazing is when you finally put all the pieces together. Hope you will continue to visit.
I have attended Catholic mass in a language that I don’t speak and I am still able to follow and respond, in my language of course. It is the same mass everywhere.

The beauty of the whole "nsync" of the mass. No matter where you are in the world whether you speak the language of the mass, we Catholics know what is going on and the prayers being prayed even if we don't speak or understand the language. As a Catholic myself, I love this video. The only thing is that the mass is only about an hour long. I hear this all the time from Protestant friends. Lol.
I agree, service is usually about an hour. Coffee, donuts, tang on patio after for everyone to converse. I've been to other denomination services and that's when we're talking 2-3+ hours.

I am considered an adult convert, & was not raised in church, but drawn to the Catholic Church since my earliest memories, so to me, I've always been Catholic & didn't know it. I love this message, Sir. Thank you for sharing your experience, willingness to learn from the source, & welcome!
Towards number 4 with everyone being in synch: that's because we don't believe that we celebrate different masses, but one eternal, universal mass in the presence of Christ and his disciples. So mass always follows the same procedure everywhere in the world, which allowed e.g. me as a German Catholic from Cologne to attend mass in an Irish-Canadian Catholic church during my stay in Canada alongside my Mexican Catholic host brother with neither of us feeling lost or out of place. Before the end of the 2nd vaticanic council in 1965 they even used the same language, Latin, all over the world, which the mass is still sometimes read in, however ever since the use of the native language of the area has become the norm. Growing up Catholic, attending Catholic Kindergarten, Elementary and Secondary school has engrained the "rhythm" of Catholic mass so deeply in me that I could follow it in my sleep, which makes mass a symbiosis of attention to what is being said in the singular parts with a simultaneous meditation. Another reason that helps with the universal service is the "work out routine" you described earlier, as our practices go back 2000 years during which for the longest time the majority of people were illiterate and probably also didn't understand Latin which meant that mass had to be filled with symbolism and experiences to convey the message to the uneducated masses. So even if I attend mass in a country where I don't understand the language like e.g. Spain, I still get that experience of "sensing mass" and can participate in it alongside everyone else

Hahahhhaa. As a Catholic from Africa I agree with all the points, except the last one of course. A Sunday Catholic Mass lasts between 45 minutes to 2:30 hours. I have been to a Protestant service and I almost died of hunger. Lol
Catholic 'services' can become really long if there's something special happening. We had a conversion and adoration on the last day of the year directly after Mass Guests were wondering if it always took 3 hours 😂
I'm a Catholic and a convert from the church of Christ. You've made by day! You're always welcome! ❤ If you think a Sunday Mass is "long", you should go back and visit the week before Easter! (The Triduum) It starts on the Evening of Holy Thursday and ends Saturday night after the Easter Vigil! 😂 (With breaks in between)
Some Sundays, usually the day after a hard hike, the calisthenics are tough. My back and knees kill me. Genuflecting getting into and out of the pew is a chore.
This was great 😂 especially #5 had me rolling! We attend the traditional Latin Mass, and let me tell you how true that last observation is. We’re up at 5am, we have 3 girls and 1 boy, I spend just about 2 hours to braid my girls’ hair, basically wedding-quality every Sunday. All in all, takes us all 4 hours to get ready, feed the children breakfast, and leave the house by 9am. Takes 45m to get to our FSSP parish. We’re in our pew by 9:50 ready to start the rosary at 10am. My wife and I alternate each Sunday, while one of us is praying the rosary with our children and with the community, the other is in line for confessions. Mass starts at 10:30, and since most of the time it’s a High Mass, it’s easily at least a 1.5 hour mass. We’re done by 12, then after Mass we all pray the Angelus, then the After Mass Prayers (about another 15 minutes) After that if we have any items to get blessed we take them to the blessing table, the priest comes to do the blessing, then we have some social time with the priest and our fellow parishioners. The priest will then switch his shoes into cleats and will gather the children to play soccer right on the field next to the church (we carry a change of shoes for the kiddos too). Right around 2pm we’re jumping in the car to leave, and get home close to 3pm From the moment we wake up at 5am to 3pm that’s a 10 hour day. And my wife and I (or unless she’s pregnant, then just me) have been fasting this whole time, as we follow the traditional midnight fast that is broken only after Mass is over. We wouldn’t do it any different though. Our children look forward to our Sundays and it’s an entire day event that strengthens our faith and our relationships with our fellow parishioners and priests. Both my wife and I and our children have made lifelong friends here and our relationship with God has never been stronger. You should definitely try attending a traditional Latin Mass! It’s an experience like no other.
Catholic here, i found this hilarious. You should join and you will notice and see many more things, all meaningful, united into the Glorious mystical body of Christ. Btw the catholic mass is participatory for everyone attending, its more than sitting listening to a sermon. It engages the whole God given human sensorium.
My grandma was catholic and your video just gave me *major* childhood flashbacks lol. You nailed it! Made me laugh and miss her. My heart still aches for her as it did the day she went to heaven.
How terrific you attended Mass. Keep at it! BTW, the “service” is addressed as the Mass or Liturgy. There is so much more to the Mass than a simple service. God’s continued graces for you.
That's not the only crazy thing... I come from a small village in Asia, went to work in the Middle East (the Arabian Gulf), and attended mass at the American Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In all these places, the Mass is the same. I know what to do.. I know what to say and nobody made me feel unwelcome. That's basically what Catholic means. Universal.
Bless you Sir. I'm Catholic I attend every Sunday and am an usher. Mass is 1 hour or less at every parish I go to. I can even catch my football games except the early east coast ones
This was wonderful....so funny.... I am praying for you to come into the Church! My dad came to a Traditional Latin High Mass and he leaned over to me and said, loudly, "It's like Zoomba for old people." It has hysterical.
That is intersting because yes I see small children some under 2 who with their parents kneel and cross themselves when appropriate because they have watched and learned from their parents/grandparents and others and it is so good to see such reverence from birth
I love your videos and as a Catholic, I’m extra joyful to see this one. I have to disagree with your last point though. In my town, we Catholics get out way ahead of the Baptists. You can tell as the restaurants have “church rushes” for brunch and lunch as each of the denominations finish their services. I call it “Catholic aerobics” by the way. 😆. Bless you brother! Keep up the good work of bringing laughter to the world.
Man, you had this Catholic laughing! It was great that you came. If you get someone to explain the Mass it will make sense, including the reason we stand, sit or kneel at certain parts of it. God bless you, brother in Christ.
I was raised catholic and went to catholic school from kindergarten til I graduated and I have to say when I went to college..my first 2 years were easy because the curriculum is so much harder then public school...I was in a 12th grade science class in 8th grade...and we had to attend mass every Friday morning so that was mass twice a week unless you went Wednesday as well....I loved my childhood and growing up catholic...I can still go to mass and it's like a bike..you never forget what to do and when to do it...
You can watch mass from England, Italy, France, Pakistan....no matter where in the world, it will be the same. It's awesome to think that Mass is offered nonstop around the planet at every second of the day. Great vid, but honestly, daily mass is usually 30 minutes and Sunday mass is usually an hour. And many don't wear Go to Church on Sunday clothes, especially in the summer. And our expression about movement in church is stand up, sit down, kneel, pray pray pray.
In my youth I left Catholicism. I went to many fine Christian churches, but I really missed the Catholic mass and communion...AND...I needed to get back into shape, so I'm back! This was really good Josh Pray...LOL
So Funny! We have an old Irish joke that we Catholics suddenly stand up and sit down so the Priest can spot the Protestants! Some masses do have choirs, but unfortunately as people, especially young people) are leaving the Church these are hard to keep going. I am glad your priest led the congregation in Hymns. I would like to think that anyone dressed respectfully is welcome at any Catholic Mass (but please don't go to communion until you have done the sacraments to become Catholic, especially reconciliation.) There is a lot of nonsense spoken about Catholicism. There are alot of CZcams videos from High profile converts who will set you straight (eg John Henry Newman; Scott Hann etc). God Bless!
As a black Catholic, this was HILARIOUS’!!! Anyway each Parish is slightly different. Some dress down generally. Also most Massed are only one hour long unless there is a special feast or solemnity. Blessings bro
Thank you for this entertaining video. Lifelong Catholic here. I've attended Mass in numerous states, in probably a hundred churches. Mass is typically an hour to an hour and 15 minutes long. I had a Lutheran girlfriend who used to complain about how long the Mass was, she would say oh it's two or three hours, but the Catholic liturgy and the Lutheran liturgy are almost word for word the same. Easter vigil will be a very long mass, maybe 3 hours. But otherwise it's typically no longer than an hour and 15 minutes. And one clarification: we call it Mass, it is not a service. It's a divine liturgy including a sacrifice, a representation of the last supper.
I'm so glad you took the opportunity to discover the beauty of Catholic liturgy. Yes, we do sit/stand/kneel at various times. For example, we stand for the Gospel to show respect for the Word of Jesus; we kneel to show piety/prayerfulness 😇at certain times. The prayers we recite together are as ancient as the Church herself...For example, the Lord's Prayer, or "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world..." (Revelation), etc. Keep searching for the Truth! Read the words of the Church Fathers (who were taught by the Apostles themselves and their Disciples), and things become very clear. May God Bless You on your faith journey!😇
It's not a service but it's a Mass and we say who ever celebrates these masses :), but thank you for attending we catholics always welcome anyone to come to our masses.
They learn from the womb! 😂Oh, if only! I'm training my 2yo and 4yo, and even though they're at Mass five days a week, it's an uphill battle. But worth it! I love the Mass. Thank you for your positive energy.
I could say is a Catholic first off I love the video I understand the theatrics, I was laughing most of time. Love it. On a real note, the concept of the mass is a place where all Worship in a very specific ceremony that's been passed down for over eighteen hundred years. The Catholic Mass predates the Bible, so does the Eucharist. The first canonical Bible was created around 397 ad, when the Pope commissioned st-jerome to assemble the first Bible. They took the Torah, Papyrus Scrolls, animal hides, and after the Council of Rome were able to establish the Bible. The Bible was meant initially to support the mass, next time you go to a Catholic Mass you will recognize that 100% of everything in there is in the Bible. Even the songs are in Psalms, the first and second reading are from sometimes the Old and New Testament. The gospel always being from the four Apostles. The Eucharist is what separates all other face from Catholicism, as we are the only Christian group outside of the Eastern Orthodox group, that recognize the Eucharist as the true body and blood of Christ that the priest was given teaching and traditional Authority from the very first pope / Peter. Jesus told Peter, on this rock I will build my church and not even the Gates of Hell will prevail. This is what Catholics recognize as the church that will never cease, and has endured throughout the years, some bad popes, but the good outweigh the bad, the evangelization brings Jesus Christ and the gospel, and the good news, and the charity to the entire world. God bless you for making this video
its the fulfillment of Judaism --refer to brant pitre jewish roots of the mass, jewish roots of the eucharist. each part is basically what jews did at temple "bending the knee" the vestments the steps to the pulpit, the incense, the structure introduction-liturgy of the word (old, new testament, and psalms) the liturgy of the eucharist (thanksgiving) consecration of the bread and wine into THE body and blood soul and divinity of Jesus--a representation of calvary including His glorified state. then the dismissal, but its all biblical. I praise you for going and sharing its beautiful. also with the statues didn't see anyone "worshiping" those statues we only WORSHIP GOD , we ask them to pray for us as we would ask you to pray for us. it just makes so much sense to me, its rich inviting referent holy and peace filled. It's how i wish to worship my Lord. Our mass lasts 1 hour during the week perhaps 30 minutes for the school kids they all behave, they seat an older student next to a younger student, seeing them in their uniforms is so sweet. Longest service is palm sunday where the entire passion is read and we each have our portions. Don't leave early Judas left early at the last supper don't want to be a Judas. Can't leave until the Priest leaves the main aisle. What motivated you to go? a friend , curiosity? Faith?
Idk how I came across your video, but as a Catholic I really enjoyed it! So glad you were able to go to mass. I love the holy church and thank God for the miracle of the Eucharist.
The beauty is, you can attend anywhere in the world the holy mass and you can follow the service, even when you do not know the language. The structure is al the same. But beware attending a Latin mass is even better!
During football season, church is short on Saturdays and Sunday’s when LSU or Saints are playing. Priest want to watch the game also. If a priest don’t cut it short or service is during a game, the priest will announce the score when there is a touchdown. Someone always has their earpiece in listening
Same thing in Wisconsin before a Packer game. My grandma would go to 10:30 mass. The priest would walk in, tell everyone the game was starting in an hour and a half. Mass would be done in 30 mins and the priest was gone lol.
I am a Catholic from the southern states and I was always under the impression that it was the baptists that spent all day at church on Sunday. We usually run about an hour maybe a little over for a baptism. The kneeling part of the Mass is specifically when the host is changed into the Body of Jesus. So obviously we would be kneeling for that. Be thankful there even is sitting. Pew(seats) where actually something that came about during the reformation. Before that it was all standing or kneeling.
Been to Catholic services 3 times in my life. 1st in Pomeroy, OH with my High School buddy, 2nd with an Air Force friend after he asked me to chapel after he got a “Dear John” letter from his fiancé, 3rd time about 13 years ago when we went to Christmas Eve service the first year we lived in this town because my wife had heard the Catholic Christmas Service was amazing. It was, but not enough for me to become Catholic. I attend FWB because my wife won’t go to the Church that I am convinced is the closest Church to the truth, (based upon Biblical scripture evidence). That would be SDA. Catholic & SDA: can’t get much more opposite than that! I attended 4 years of grade school and one year of college (Takoma Park, MD) in Seventh Day Adventist Schools.

I challenge you to visit the mass of the ages. The mass said by the apostles, the martyrs, the saints for 1960 years-- The Traditional Latin Mass. it was love at first sight and ear! The Gregorian Chant pierced my soul. There’s no loud anything going on because you immediately know that we are there to commemorate the slaughter of the lamb as Jesus requested at the last supper for our horrific sins against the Almighty God. It is pure holiness. To God be all the Glory! 🙏🙏🙏

We’re done by 12, then after Mass we all pray the Angelus, then the After Mass Prayers (about another 15 minutes)
After that if we have any items to get blessed we take them to the blessing table, the priest comes to do the blessing, then we have some social time with the priest and our fellow parishioners. The priest will then switch his shoes into cleats and will gather the children to play soccer right on the field next to the church (we carry a change of shoes for the kiddos too).
Right around 2pm we’re jumping in the car to leave, and get home close to 3pm
From the moment we wake up at 5am to 3pm that’s a 10 hour day.
Martin, we also attend a TLM. such a blessing. Deo Gratias
When You stand before The Eternal King, You'd better be dressed right - if you can- You be Respectful Before Him.
Yours Roman Catholic 🇬🇧
Catholic here, i found this hilarious. You should join and you will notice and see many more things, all meaningful, united into the Glorious mystical body of Christ.
Btw the catholic mass is participatory for everyone attending, its more than sitting listening to a sermon. It engages the whole God given human sensorium.
Ave Maria..
Thanks for coming, you are always welcome.
You’re hilarious! I’m Catholic and I appreciate your humor!,🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂✝️
Love this. May you continue to learn about our beautiful faith!
Universal.
Amen!! UNIVERSAL
I am an African Catholic, travelled across Africa , US, Europe - and wherever there was a Catholic mass and a tabernacle, it was home ❤️
Bless you Sir. I'm Catholic I attend every Sunday and am an usher. Mass is 1 hour or less at every parish I go to. I can even catch my football games except the early east coast ones
I was NOT prepared for this video!! I just laughed so hard my fried chicken just flew out my mouth! I am Catholic and your video is awesome! Thanks
😂greetings from a Catholic mom in Africa. You are lovely. Be blessed🤗
A novel and funny look at a Catholic service❤. Thanks from a catholic😊
You can watch mass from England, Italy, France, Pakistan....no matter where in the world,
it will be the same.
I would love to here his experiences at a solemn high traditional Latin mass!
Same!!
As a cradle Catholic, I approve this message. I'll keep you in my prayers that you come home, brother.
In my youth I left Catholicism. I went to many fine Christian churches, but I really missed the Catholic mass and communion...AND...I needed to get back into shape, so I'm back!
This was really good Josh Pray...LOL
Good that you came back and LOL!
@@lyndavonkanel8603 Way Way good!
God Bless!
"Stand up and sit down to see the Protestants"! I got a good laugh from that one. I'll try to remember it the next time one asks me why we do that.
As a black Catholic, this was HILARIOUS’!!! Anyway each Parish is slightly different. Some dress down generally. Also most Massed are only one hour long unless there is a special feast or solemnity. Blessings bro
Love your humor. If you think that that Mass was wild, you need to try attending a Traditional Latin Mass. Bless you, sir!
I’m catholic and I love this. But the church I go to is only 1 hour
He attended a Latin Traditional Mass, not a Novus Order Mass.
I cant stop laughing on up down kneel up down up down 😂
I'm still laughing from just reading the title!
We need a sequel to this video where he attends the TLM
Deo Gratias
Faith?
Wow, that was the first time I saw you and you make me laugh so hard I’ll keep watching
Idk how I came across your video, but as a Catholic I really enjoyed it! So glad you were able to go to mass. I love the holy church and thank God for the miracle of the Eucharist.
Now you know a Catholic service is basically an aerobic workout 😄
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never Crossed my mind🙄
O my! Im Catholic....i laughed so hard i cried. Thank you!
Dude. I gotta listen to more of what you learned. You made my day filled with laughter. Thank you Brother!
I’m catholic and mass is only 1 hour but you sure had me laughing 🙏
I appreciate your humor and you made some good points. Our Mass is typically about one hour, but special Masses can take longer.
I love your take on the Catholic mass. Great humor.
Dear friend you should most definitely check out the older rite of the Mass called the Traditional Latin Mass.
We need more people that say "sot" for "sat" in the CC. He's the real deal.
@rrjeffers_ yep. New Orleans
Haha. I love your observations. It's good to hear about our Catholic behavior from a visitor. Good bless!
Really entertaining review! Bless you, brother, for being so positive about our mass.
You are welcome anytime ❤❤❤❤❤
I have taken people with me to Mass and have been told their quads and glutes got some serious exercise. 😂
Love this video man.
Go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve
you should reach out to That Black Catholic Chick maybe do a cross over episode where she can explain the mass to you.
This had me rolling. 😂
Thank you for the laugh.
This was hilarious! I pray that won't be your last visit to a Catholic Church. May God bless you on your journey of faith and hilarity!
I can’t wait to hear his experience at a Christmas Mass :)
As a Maronite Catholic. God bless you my brother in Christ ✝️ 😅😅 - In Christ, every man is a word in the mouth of God so that all humanity becomes a song of love 🎵 ✝️
I'm happy that you liked it. Great outsider view of Mass., and incredibly entertaining.
First! Love your uploads 😂 thank you
Love this guys excitement!! 😂😂
This was hilarious! Thank you so much. It brought me great joy to hear this. You are a very talented speaker!
This was heart warming and hilarious 😂!!
Deo Gratias
You nailed it.
Services on Sunday take about 1 hour. Glad you got a good workout Sweating for Jesus
