Kaylah, I have lived on my family homestead all of my 56 years of life and there are flowers/plants/trees from several generations that came before me and when I die, I hope that someone just like you, will move into this homestead and love and care for it just like you have at Stroup Mansion and just not destroy all the love that lived here before them. If only I could be so blessed. 💚

I actually love watching this "problem solving" style of landscaping. The solutions that embrace what you're working with, as is, cracks & all.

I LOVE that you're taking something that could be a problem and making it an intentional gardening moment. How pretty it will look as it grows in, too!

that crunch from you cutting the succulent mat tho - that is some serious asmr stuff 🤩 love it!!!

They are called stepables, you can walk on it -- maybe not jump rope or run your heard of goats all over it, but you can walk on it. Looks lovely.

Your garden is just beautiful. Succulents are the easiest things to grow and propagate, you can take bits off the mat as they grow and get hundreds of other plants over the years. $25 might be a lot but you’ll never have to buy any more.

This was a wonderful thing to follow after watering my little pot garden and realizing the first of the fireflies for this year are out and about. Thank you for sharing.

Great solution. And what I can see happening over the coming years is that it will grow out across the concrete creating new mats that you can trim off and poke into other cracks instead of having to drop 25 bucks at the garden center.

Great solution for cracks. I will use this idea now in a problem area where the edge of the garden meets the walkway. Thanks!

Love it! In my life gardening in NY and FL, two completely different zones, I have discovered the best way to keep weeds down .... is more plants!

Kaylah, this was so cool and you always come up with unique solutions. Excited to see how durable the plants will be in a few months time. Make sure you keep us updated please? 😊

That is so cool! I can’t plant a lot of things in Florida because it gets way too hot!

I live in Florida, I can relate. My town also has wild free roaming chickens. They tear up our yards, things freshly planted, spew mulch all over, dig holes, such a nuisance. Chickens and the heat makes gardening difficult.

Love it. What do I ask for at the garden center? My bulbs came out beautiful. Thanks for suggesting it.

Sedum (low, creeping one)would work too. And hens and chicks are pretty cool when they multiply and spread. But you are right, gardening is a waiting game. But you will be rewarded. First they sleep, then they creep, then they LEAP!! Its true. Wish you were closer. I would be happy to share plants. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. ❤

Would you do an updated tour of the full yard and house? I’ve been following you since you bought the house and love all the updates on Instagram, but it would be cool to see the full transformation in one place! Also, how is the closet going?

I think thats the perfect solution for that area. I like all those tiny plants. I don't think I've seen flats of succulents like those in my area. I'm in central Florida we struggle with heat for many months and lack of rain in others. Looks good.
Question - Noticed the hose - I like that it seems easy to maneuver, can you share the name or link it? TY
