10 Signs Your Kidneys Aren’t Working Properly

  • How to Know Your Kidneys Are Crying for Help. Our kidneys are vital to the proper functioning of our bodies and keeping us healthy and alive. Kidney diseases are extremely dangerous as people sometimes lose 90% of their kidney function before some symptoms appear. Here are some of the least obvious symptoms that can indicate kidney problems. If you have any of those, it’s a good reason to see a doctor.
    TIMESTAMPS
    Itching and dry skin 1:00
Always feeling cold no matter the temperature 1:58

    Tachycardia 4:34
    High fever and backaches 5:50
    Muscle cramps 6:25

    SUMMARY
-Dry or itching skin, hyperpigmentation, rashes, and jaundice (an illness that affects the liver and makes the skin yellow) may indicate that your kidneys aren't working as they should.
-Kidney problems might slow down the production of the hormone erythropoietin. This hormone stimulates the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. These blood cells later carry oxygen through your body.
-One of the most serious causes of bad breath is a urinary tract infection. The main danger is that this infection can easily spread to the kidneys.
-Swelling happens due to an excess amount of water in intercellular spaces. If the swelling is overly prominent and also accompanied by other symptoms, you should check that you don't suffer from chronic kidney disease.
-An excess amount of potassium that sick kidneys can't get out of your body can have a negative effect on the cardiovascular system.
-An acute backache with a high fever, frequent urination, and vomiting are serious signs that may indicate that you have a kidney infection.
-Chronic muscle cramps (not those that happen every once in a while) may indicate an imbalance of electrolytes in your body. Inflamed kidneys pressing on the nerve endings of the muscles surrounding them can cause such a painful reaction.
-High blood pressure damages blood vessels, which can lead to kidney failure. When the blood flow is too strong, the vessels get stretched.
-If you often have such symptoms of panic as an increased heart rate, sweating, and sudden changes in blood pressure, this may indicate that you have an adrenal tumor, also known as pheochromocytoma.
-If you have an excess amount of fluid, you will end up with skin rashes because the kidneys can't remove the uremic toxins out of your system.
-Factors that put you at a higher risk of kidney disease are diabetes, blood pressure problems, heart problems, old age, etc.

My Dad had acute kidney failure. It was one of the most severe cases they had seen. He had no swelling, was extremely thin and couldn't get out of bed or hardly walk. We took him to the doctor and he didnt even spot it until the blood work came back. Not a whole bunch of these symptoms are what he had. We got him to the e.r. just in time. A month of dialysis 3x a week after 3 weeks of hospitalization and he is home and dialysis free. Super scary.

If you dont have any of these symptoms, it doesnt mean you're in the clear. Their are alot of people with failing kidneys that show no symptoms. I would say they best thing is trying to prevent your kidney from going bad by researching preventative measures and drinking the required amount of water DAILY! if you are someone that doesnt like drinking water, then your kidney is probably failing right now.

I haven't been to a doctor since I got my appendix taken out in 2011. Haven't had a fever since. Before that, I would mysteriously get a fever a few times a year. Maybe a few hours, maybe a whole day. Best thing to get rid of that appendix.

Same here! I thought I was dying for almost a year - random fevers, insomnia, weight loss and lack of appetite, random extreme bursts of pain, and I was always tired. And I got so used to it until one day I went to work and I felt like I was actively going to die and I went to the hospital immediately and turns out it was my appendix! I sometimes wonder, if I didn't go to the hospital, I probably would have died eventually. A scary thought, but I'm glad I had listened to my pain telling me to get help. Depends on which countries u seeing doctor with. Like in some others countries, the doctors listen and understand your conditions and painfulness. But in my country, we have to listen to the doctors said. Even though we explain our both feet are now in great pain. But they believe in their own theory.

      O. In America it’s much simpler you go to the doctor he gives you three minutes of his time and starts writing prescriptions.
The pill pushing doctors don’t care about anything else but billing your insurance.
I know I went to the doctors today I doubt if he was in the room for five minutes with me.

They left off uremic frost which occurs on face especially around chin, jaws, lower cheeks and tje skin around your mouth. Also left out sty. Every time i got a large kidney stone i got sties om the opposite eye. After the stone was discovered and removed, the styes cleared up. Also they left off flank pain, an obstructed or swollen kidney causes flank pain.

Tried going keto, seen vids on youtube from those who have tried it? Lowering göucose and going ketogenic will increase filtration rate. Adding salt ( sodium , posstasium, magnesium ) after peeing alot due to lowered wateretention bcs of lower basal insulin and sugar levels. Than upping salt will actually keep bp well bcs too little water in the body will trigger kidneys to make aldosterone that than make angiotensin I, than angiotensin-ii which is vasoconstrictive.
Btw. How did you get better and which symptoms do you have?

Ok well I have chronic dry skin so dry t cracks, edema for no apparent reason in lower legs but not feet, itchy skin that gets sudden rashes out of nothing, that come and go often within hours, brittle hair, nails that bend, and stomach and smooth muscle issues. Spastic movement in morning, slow digestion and random odd symptoms too. Extreme tiredness, and frequent urination that doesn’t come out all the way. Yet every test I take checking for kidney issues always come back normal or show no abnormality. It sucks because I know something is wrong somewhere inside.
