Great piece of history, accurate or not. You said it was inherently inaccurate and I see you're right, the key holing is kind of a bummer but she still brought a smile to your face and for good reason.
The 405 grain is shorter than the 500 grain and I’ve yet to shoot those out of it. There is a good chance the barrel is closer to .46, which apparently was a coming thing back then.

Try shooting bullet that are not so long to prevent the keyholes.
