Great master country picking there my friend ! Interesting different tones switching the pick , i switched to the rounded edge couple of years ago and somehow it not only sounds better but improved my playing. Thank you as always for your inspiration to keep at it 🙏

Thank you for watching and the kind words Brother Shaun;)
Swapping the pick around sure has made me more "attentive" to "attaining" the result...more "focused" upon the "execution" of playing.
It's good to know it can be done...and has "tonal benefits" that are "new" to me in the method of attaining...so much to learn...but what "fun" to learn;)
My prayers to you, your family and friends...Sincerely I am...Dan;)

Good stuff Brother! Pick choice is important. I’ve heard a ton of good picking messed up by pick choice. Sometimes you have to make changes in pick thickness and even pick shape depending on the instrument and string size. Some will think this is foolish but I’m a firm believer in getting the right pick. Thanks for the video my friend.

      Very true indeed

My Brother Rodney...the Pick and/or Fingers along with the "Feel & Touch of the Hand" that is doing it is the "Voice of Expression" of the "Note" that is "trying to tell you" something... Musically;)
This should be a "quote" in the "Hall of Guitar Pickers";)
And the pick is one of the most "overlooked" TONE CHANGERS available to guitar pickers...especially "Acoustic" players;)
Thank you for watching my Brother. I have been rolling a few ideas around on the Jerry Lee tune...I'll have something for you soon;)
My prayers to you, your family and friends...Sincerely I am...Dan;)

The pick up in the AIO sounds great as did your pickin. I generally use the shoulder of the pick more so on my acoustics than my electrics, they seem to create a warmer tone than the pointed end. I also went to the rounded profile on my Blue Chip pics for the same reason. Pick material, pick thickness all effect tone, just one more rabbit hole to go down in the elusive search of that perfect tone. 🤠

Thank you for watching, your kind words and insight Brother Mojo as this is a very interesting and somewhat "overlooked" subject for "electric guitarists" but a much more "familiar" conversation for "acoustic guitarists".
About 20 years ago, legendary fiddle player and overall "utility" player "Hoot Hester" (who was the staff fiddle player at the Opry at the time) gave me 2 "Tortoise Shell" picks...the "genuine real deal" stuff"...of which I still own and use today with both of them being slightly "different" from each other...one with more "pointed" corners and the other more "rounded".
Throughout my years of session work, I have used these 2 picks almost "exclusively" for the acoustic work I have and continue to do...only switching to a traditional plastic pick (medium) for the "raking fast strumming" that doesn't not include hitting any individual "bass" notes.
About 5 years ago, legendary fiddle player Jason Carter of the famed Del McCoury Band and the Travelin' McCoury's gave me a "Blue Chip" pick...which I still have and use (at times) today. He gave it to me to "keep & try out" and let him know "what I think".
I thanked him and said, "If I like it, I'll pick me up a dozen or so." Jason laughed. I tried it...liked it...went on to the internet to order a dozen or so...and at $55 each (at the time...now around $35 each), I still have my "one and only" Blue Chip pick...which I still like...when I use it;)
My prayers to you, your family and friends...Sincerely I am...Dan;)

Fantastic pickin' there Dan, top shelf stuff, that guitar sounds great too. A lot also goes into your picking technique as well, I've seen plenty of players (and I'm sure myself included at some point) would have a good picking rhythm going on 1 string but have it interrupted when changing to another string, each string has a different tension and feel. Its a good daily practice/warmup to get a picking rhythm going and go through each string individually and try to keep in all in the same rhythm and timing, that could help anyone trying to reach the level of your ability. Keep on pickin' Dan, I hope you have a blessed week ahead, God bless you and your loved ones, sincerely, Bri

Thank you Brother Bri...for the kind words and for watching and listening;)
I find my "right hand" is the "key" to my playing. Most players "focus" upon the left hand "notation" (including me)...but upon "paying attention" my "right hand", I found that it wasn't "keeping up" with the left.
In other words...my "left hand" had already "moved on" to something else...a different part of the "musical melody" I was trying to play...but my "right hand" had not yet "executed" the previous "musical melody"...delayed by mere milliseconds...but "behind"...nonetheless.
When I finally realized this "anamoly" within my playing...which I always thought was my "left hand" being the issue"...I began to "slow down" my efforts...not necessarily to a "crawl" but to a decidely conscience "slower" tempo...and this was the "beginning" ( and still is) of "focusing" on my right hand execution...both regarding "rhythm & notation".
The "by-product" of this...was a "cleaner left hand" execution...both "rhythm & notation"...and an overall "cleaner presention" of both.
Like you Brother Bri...I am not performing "pre-meditated" musical performances. Although "familiar" to my "musical mind"...my performances are not an attempt of "covering a note for note" solo made "famous" by a guitar player.
The vast majority of my videos are the "1st time attempts" concepts...that I either have been "thinking about" or "just thought of"...and then grabbing the guitar to "see/hear" if I can "play" what I am "thinking" of...probably very similar to "how" you do your "Improvs".
This is where the "slower tempo" plays a major role in letting your "hands" catch up with your "musical mind & ideas"...allowing me to "hear" a solid "musical presentation" of "what" was in my head ( which always "sounds" better than "what" I actually performed)...but a much "closer overall & appealing presention" between the "mental & physical" presentation of the idea.
As time goes by...I begin to "add" tempo (if desired)...but ONLY AFTER I have "heard to completion by execution" the "Musical Concept/Idea/Phrase" that is in my head in a "physical performed manner" that satisfies my "Musical Mind"...and this is typically "what" I am doing in these videos...as they are truly more for "me" to learn about myself as I "Journey On" thru enjoying the "Blessing of Music";)
Let's keep on pickin' my "Loopin' Brother"...and my prayers to you, your family and friends...keep rockin' the Strat;)
      Sincerely I am...Dan;)
These "videos" that we are recording are the "greatest tools" for us to learn "about" ourselves as players...capturing our "Hands vs. Execution" which = "The Musical Result".

@@musicmandan1717 100% true Dan, they keep me constantly learning, critiquing, and hopefully improving everyday. It's always practice, never perfect for we were not made to be perfect, only one is, God bless Dan, keep on rockin'!!!🙏
