Awesome video, I am a Retired Marine and that brings me back to the joys of the island, I just recently road a Tri glide to DC and Quantico Va to the National Museum of the Marine Corps while waiting on my RG3 seems I got caught up in the Harley delays 13 weeks, from ordering to delivering,finally I am the owner of a Gray Haze black Engine RG3 and 200 miles in it’s awesome, I have been following your and a few others videos on upgrades etc on this trike and have made a few so far, the seat I am considering is a Mustang with the back rest I found it really comfortable on my Street Glide and I dread I gave it up with my trade. Thanks for sharing the info and awesome videos and to your new Marine “ Semper Fi”

Your video brought back my own Graduation memory from the "Island" (back in the early '70's); thanks!
For distance riding, I recommend the Road Sofa seat by Saddlemen. Looks, performs very well and lasts (very durable and well made), plus you can customize the look with custom stiching (perhaps blue stich to go with your beautiful blue RG3) and a matched passenger backrest. Seat also comes with it's own rain sock, which is nice.

Outstanding, Marine mom!! Much to be proud & grateful for, including the job of raising your son and daughter. This, from a retired Marine, a combat-disabled veteran, bilateral leg amputee who uses a wheelchair. I ride Harleys, too, since the 90's. I have ridden with sidecars from the start, to carry my folded chair. My latest bike is an '06 Electra Glide Classic, an early retirement gift from my then-wife that I adapted to ride. I'm 77 now, but still in relatively good Marine condition, and have been eyeing the Harley Tri-Glides for years, as an easier ride than with a sidecar & it's handling limitations. My impasse - the chair; it's light & minimal, but still a factor. The Tri-Glide Ultra is off the table as more than I need.

So, I must determine how I adapt the RG3 to carry that chair. I've seen no others in adaption so far in my research, but with my other bikes, I just figured it out and made it work, so far so good. Your videos give me a great deal of information, feedback, and incentive - I thank you very much for that. Best wishes, safe riding, and a solid "Semper Fi" to that young Marine NCO of yours. My mind was trying to imagine adapting the RG3 to accommodate a wheelchair… One of the guys in my husband’s motorcycle club is a double amputee and adapted a Triglide. However, he does not use a wheelchair. I am amazed at what can be adapted these days, so praying something will work out for you. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I have taken a month off from editing, but will start back up here soon and get more videos out.
I believe the RG3 has the same seat as the Freewheeler, which is what I have. The first time I rode pillion on it I vowed never again. My husband's TriGlide had me spoiled. Contacted Mustang Seats and had a Deluxe Standard Touring seat made with a driver back rest and rear passenger sissy bar pad. It wasn't cheap but it is SO comfortable. Well worth every nickel.
Yes, Mustang is what I am planning on getting (eventually).

I just put a push up on RG 3 yesterday. Much bigger seat for the passenger. I also got a hydronic backrest for me. Love the combo!!

This video! I’m keeping an eye out for HD to put the RG front end on an ultra tri glide frame. (One cab hope). I have a 2016 Tri Glide, and I’d trade it in a hot minute for the new front end.

Thanks for sharing thr marine graduation video. I am from Oz and found it very informative and touching. Well done. On my converted Road King Trike i have the heated HD hammock seat.
Oh the RG3 seat debacle. My wife and I both have the RG3's as well and we have been looking. I had a Saddleman for the previous Tri-Glides and I was able to transfer it over to my Road Glide Special. However, when the RG3 came out this year we were immediately at the dealer to preorder. In fact, I think my wife's RG3 was the first one sold in Indiana. So, obviously the reason for such a limited seat line (currently) is the recessed cradle that the rear of the seat sits in as the rear body is actually a Freewheeler for the most part so there is an opening in the pan where a normal seat would fit. Too much of a gap for me. We are thinking about maybe the Sundowner seat even though it's kinda got a bulky rear end. Not so sleek as the stock seat, but then again, thin seats means you are sitting on the seat pan within the first 1k miles. I haven't had a chance to browse the comments for any other suggestions and I will definitely check back to see if anyone has any new ideas on seats for the RG3. I'm hoping that there will eventually be more options available down the line but I just haven't seen much of a variety, even with the older Freewheeler. Oh also we are currently using the "Butt Buffer" seat pads. They do seem to help a little. Thanks for the great video and thanks for your support for military and their families. BTW please pass along to your husband that I said "What's up squid". I am a Navy vet as well. Kinda touching to see the passing along of the guidon during the ceremony as that was my job during boot camp and we had a similar ceremony. I haven't thought about that in 40 years. Stay safe!!
I am still trying to decide. I do not want to spend a large amount of money until I am comfortable with the decision. We are going to try the Butt Buffer cushions.

Those damn Devil Dogs! As a Navy veteran I can say first hand, a MARINE is the best kind of friend you can have…and the worst kind of enemy! Always respectful and nice, until it’s GO time…and when it’s GO time you better pray you’re on their side.
I found the ceremony moving, and loved the bit where the young man acknowledged your son and the influence he had during their training. You deserve to be proud. God bless you and your family. As for seats, I heartily recommend looking at Corbin's range, but am aware you have many more choices than we do Down Under in NZ.

Have you tried the gel pad? I have popped one on for a day trip when I had my RG and it worked. Harley makes it so you know we can accessorize accordingly. I hope you find a seat that works!! Great video here I enjoyed this.
Thanks. My husband mentioned the gel pad. I think I will get one and then when I go see my twin in July, I will get her opinion. If that does not work, I will breakdown and buy another seat. I just do not think that stock seat will work.

My recommendation would be a Mustang touring seat! I’ve went through many of different brands( Harley seats at junk) trust me go with Mustang. And splurge for the driver backrest. Ride safe

Funny I just came across your video I just bought a 2022 Tri Glide. The stock seat is not awesome and after about an hour of riding my butt hurts , so I'm going shopping. Might go with the tall boy or the road zeppelin? Be interesting to see what you end up getting. God bless and ride safe . 🙏

For sure I would look into Corbin or Russell they are top in quality and they custom sharpe the foam to what you want and how you want it and they can do custom stitching you can even put your CZcams logo on the backrest

Ts custom seats. Fayetteville Arkansas makes the best seats. I’ve had him make my seats for a while now. 600 mile trip and still comfortable. He will design your seat to meet your needs. Each seat built and designed specially for customer. He has a website
That is good to know. I have looked at the different seats and am so overwhelmed. In fact, for the driver seat I am fine...trying to decide if I want to spend the $$$ for the rare times I will have a passenger. I am going to try the Butt Buffer first...while I try to decide. Thank yo uso much.
We have a Mustang extended reach seat waiting at home for our 23 Freewheeler but won’t get to try it out til we get back mid Apr. I Did a lot of research and found that this seat should do the trick. Just found the stock seat not very comfortable although my wife had no complaints.
Yep, that is what I am probably going to go with. My daughter ended up hating the passenger seat on our 4100 mile trip. It was awful for her.

I have not bought it yet, but I am going to get a Mustang seat. Many of the RG3 owners I have talked to like it... So, that is what I will get when I have the $$$.

On my 21freewheeler we found the stock seat uncomfortable for my wife. Isn’t a shame that a $30,000 motorcycle can’t come with a decent seat. We have a Sundowner seat and it’s much better. If we were going to tour as you guys are I’d probably try a mustang. Loved the mustang touring seat we had on our street glide. Good luck. Will be watching. I agree. For this expensive of a motorcycle, they should have put a better seat for the passenger.
The RG3 is no more a motorcycle than Mulvaney is a woman. No more than a soldier is a Marine. No more than an EMT is a nurse. It's a nice motorbike, or trike.

@DNiddy, please explain why you do not think it is a motorcycle. A Motorcycle is (not my words) "A two or three-wheeled motor vehicle steered by a handlebar from a saddle-style seat." So I think you are wrong. True it may not be a Bike or Motobike. It is a Trike Motorcycle.

Yep... great for stability around a bunch of bad drivers out there. Lets me travel on my own -- no fear of dropping it while out on my adventures and not being able to get it upright on my own. :). So thankful I did not have to kiss riding good-bye.
