- This past year we've poured our blood, sweat and tears into the renovation to turn our dreams into reality with this crazy DIY project. This timelapse video is a great showcase of much of the progress we've made in year 2. There's still a long way to go, but we continue to bring this house back to it's former glory.
Renovating an abandoned farmhouse in Italy doesn't come without it's difficulties, and having this video as a reminder of how far we've come in year-two is truly fantastic.

Our Story:
We sold our apartment in Stockholm, packed up the car and headed for Piemonte. After a couple of months searching for the right house we came across Our Italian Dream House and immediately made an offer. Four weeks later (just three days before Christmas 2021) we signed the contract and had the keys.
It's now early 2024 and we have been renovating this epic house for two years now. We are mortgage free and have a very limited budget so we take on as much of the renovation ourselves as possible - follow us on our journey as we turn an abandoned Italian farmhouse into our dream home.

Love the tile in the bathroom!
Thanks Susan! 😊 we choose the terrazzo tiles to honor the old terazzo floors in the house.
You guys are totally awesome. In awe and admiration (and some jealousy) of your journey. Happy new year.
Thanks so much Josh! Happy new year to you too, hope 2024 is your best yet 🥳😁
WOW! It really is a beautiful home. And all the work you two put into it was amazing. I hope you have a hot tub or a sauna to relax in after all that work. Impressive. I love your color choices and tile choices. The lighting is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your work .
Thank you SO much for this heartwarming comment 🥰 and thank you for following!
You've done a fantastic job! I think my favorite is that bathroom.
Thank you So much Linda! I love that bathroom too. We’re still due to put in the shower wall and the towel heater 😊
Fantastic video; congratulations!! Would you guys do a video of costs? From how much you bought property to materials and some labor since you guys did probably 80% of the labor! I think a video of costs would help alot of us who may have bought or planning to buy property in Italy! 👏🏼😽🤗
Thanks so much! Definitely considering a cost break down video - this will likely come closer to the end of the renovation when all the costs have been tallied up 😁😅
We also just released a short with all the costs when purchasing the house summarised. You can find it here: czcams.com/users/shortstasp62s3XY0?si=i7-1o2Vna3CHQhyL
HOLY MOLY, you guys! The progress is AMAZING...and TIRING. I need a nap now! Anyway, huge congratulations on all that you've accomplished. Bravissimo!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Thank you so much Marilyn! And happy new year to you too 🥰
Haha we Mostly work well together, but we definitely end up fighting quite a lot during the house work as well 😂
when i watch renovation videos and find 🧰 Makita tools, i want to get DIY tools made in japan or Germany.
( my DIY not yet started, even not yet a beginner in DIY )
just found the Makita office very close to the JR station ( near ) my apartment 🗼tokyo.
We love Makita - best tools we ever used! 🤩
Amazing progress!
Thank you! 😊
You said to relax and enjoy… I really don’t enjoy these fast videos I find them very stressful and not enjoyable at all..but it is just me, I guess. I would prefer a selection of importants moments with a few comments.. it give me the time to admire and appreciate. Like I sais, it is probably just me. I follow a lot of renovations on CZcams but I avoid these fast video. Some people do a wonderful job making an enjoyable movie to watch.
That being said, your work is remarkable and your talent in remodeling is great
Im sorry you feel that way Marie. A timelapse video is always in this fast, sped up format. Im sure you will enjoy our normal videos then, we have over 30 of them, which you can find on our channel 😊
Hey Guys! New subscriber who has also been hunting for a farmhouse in Piedmont the last year or so. I have one HUGE question that im really hoping you can answer: whats the permitting process been like? Obviously every commune is slightly different but to what extent do they make you get permits for doing work/your own work? Also, are you looking for volunteers? I would love to learn under you guys before embarking on my own project!
Hi Sam! Welcome, and thanks for following 😊🙌 we’ve actually written an ebook (available on our Patreon page) about our entire purchase journey here in Italy. We also offer video calls to answer any questions regarding our purchase and renovation 😊 regarding the permits you need different kind of permits for differents changes/updates and it also depends on where the house is (if UNESCO have a say in it or not, haha).
I'm a little worried that the brick walls aren't tied down to the existing walls. I hope you don't have any earthquakes. Great job.
We dont have earthquakes in this part of Italy. And the walls have been anchored to the existing walls afterwards 😊 thank you! 🙏
Classic Italian farmhouse , converted into Scandinavian design home ): 😢
You’re right. We should have kept the cows!
grey :(
Oh no, I dont like grey either. Where is it?
🥳
