Tekken 8 has been out for a month already, and it’s been a huge hit. Bandai Namco can build up on this success in various ways, and one of them could possibly be the revival of the Soulcalibur series. For real though, how sad would it be for Soulcalibur 6 to be the last installment in what is almost a genre-defining series? There should be the next game, and Tekken 8 has so much going for it so it could play a part in making happen.

Do you think Bandai Namco should consider making Soulcalibur 7? And what would you like to see in the possible new entry?
Yes, soul calibur is the best fighting game series ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it’s a good series that hasn’t had proper love by Namco and in general. But I would like to see it have more modes, more weapons and characters have better improvements to them
No its a waste of time
@@lance3853 dont project brother
yes. nothing else is like it.
We need SoulCalibur 7 as soon as possible. Hopefully they unveil it at the VGAs this December!
B1tch I don't. Whatever tekken 8 made should be spent on making another tekken game
Who's we moron. Whatever tekken 8 made should be spent on making another tekken game
No we do not need it as soon as possible. Soul Calibur V had a tight deadline and look what happened to the story man. Namco needs to take their time with it, develop it, flesh it out
@@coelophysisbauri4070 It’s already been nearly 7 years since release, almost 9 since initial development. I want it SOON, haha. Also, with the new online model they can keep updating it.
@@YoshiCookie I would like one soon too but realistically, those 7 years have been spent focusing on Tekken. So they probably only now have shifted focus back to SC. And I would prefer an awesome game to be released straight up, no updates required. No Man's Sky is a game that has received updates and is great now, but upon release it was terrible. It made a bad first impression and I don't know if SC can afford to have such a bad impression. I just want this series to succeed so badly lmao
I’m still playing SC6. Playing the same 6 guys for the last 3 years😂
Same, I can't get enough of it and am highly addicted lol these people or some of them at least just love bugging a lot when the game is still being played heavily it's just weird to see them cry a lot extra for no reason.
6????? Lucky. I play with one friend. I get salty everytime. I love it.
I mainly played it on PS4, but I have enough of paying PS plus to play online.
I bought it not long ago on sale for steam. It felt good to play online again, and to replay the offline content to re-live it and re-unlock the few locked content.
Libra of Souls was better than what I remembered (I still prefer SC3 Chronicles of the Sword, best mode in the franchise).
Only problem, is that I feel there are more ragequiters on PC than in PS4. And I also find almost always the same people, especially the same ragequiters.
@@SeventhheavenDK Yeah, spammers and all of that.
Why 6? I played at least couple dozens.
Linking Soul Calibur and Tekken lore further would be fun and easy promotion...
- Have Azazel be a secret boss
- Introduce an ancestor for the Mishimas or Hachijos as a playable character
- Kunimitsu could join Yoshimitsu
- The origins of the Ravens could be explored
In reverse, we could have a descendant of the Soul Calibur cast appear as DLC in Tekken 8. A Greek fighter called Sophie, perhaps? or one of Soul Calibur's many many immortal characters could join the fight.
Definitely a lot of room for something interesting in there. We already had Heihachi and DJ (sorta) make his way in, Azazel would be a perfect fit too. Even if it's not some canonical tie between two games, looking at the same concept through a different setting could be cool. Like what if Jinpachi was possessed in the SoulCalibur universe, or what if someone made a medieval automaton like Alisa.
Honestly, I think they already are. What other game has Purple Devils? I think the Mishimas have what's left of the Soul Edge, and Michelle Chang's Pendant (and Ogre's background) is the eye of the Soul Calibur; and that's why they're so constantly intertwined in the plots. Jinpachi in 5 practically looks like "Karate Souledge," himself!
new soul calibur new virtua fighter give it to me baby

All of this. Yes!!!
Shit I forgot about Doa. :(@@EzioZ

Soul calibur with production value of tekken 8 would be so awesome....
What production value? T8 is horrible in almost every aspect lmao.
@@Daniel-Rain-YTAre you talking about Tekken 1 or Tekken 8?
@@GuyWithZen459 8 but tbh the whole franchise is an overrated joke in almost every aspect, 3-4-5 were ok for their time, TT2 had some problems but it was ok as well, the others are pure garbage, expecially 7 with those awful glossy low res textures, terrible vfx effects and gameplay, 8 did improve stuff "a little" but not by much.

@@Daniel-Rain-YT.
Overrated = I don't like it so everyone shouldn't like it either.
And I am telling you this as someone who the only Tekken I like is Tekken 3. But I am not blind, the game is so successful and liked for a reason.
Bring back Soul Caliber 3s "create a soul", CaS having their own identity instead of mimicking cast characters was what made me love it so much!
@PersonaBossMan SF6 already balanced this with the battle hub being the only place you can fight CACs
@PersonaBossMan. It's more difficult nowadays because of the focus lately the "competitive" gameplay is having.
But an easy solution nowadays will be to add them, but not that many like in SC3. Allow the custom characters to keep using the main cast styles, but add at least 3 Exclusive styles for them (like they did with Devil Jin in SCV).
They can even recycle the styles of some of the past guest characters, as they did with Aeon and Kratos.
@PersonaBossMan. But they actually did that.
As far as I remember, there was an option that you could disble the visage of Customs, if I used a custom but you had it disable, you would see the origin character.
I could be wrong on this one, but I remember they added that option.
I loved the old soul calibur games...."this victory strengthed the soul of so and so" good times
It's slowly reviving Virtua Fighter so, yes. I can definitely see that happening.
VF is from a different publisher. The situations aren't the same.
@@azuresaiyan9005 one of the more prolific combat directors of Virtua Fighter is involved in Tekken 8 iirc also Harada is a huge fan of the series. So this might be reason to try and bring back VF

I hope they truly make Soul Calibur 7, it is my favourite fighting game ever
My hopium intake today is approaching dangerous levels... PLEASE LET THERE BE SC8
You mean 7? Lmao I forgot there was no 7 also.
SC6 didn't sell which caused the game designer to be let go
Soul Calibur is my favorite series... ❤
When they announced 6 at the game awards I stood up cheered like they scored a game winning TD
If they do make SoulCalibur 7 they should try to get a guest character from Golden Axe.
this video makes me very hopeful! i already have faith we will eventually get a new soulcalibur but its nice to see a channel with a wide reach discussing the possibility in such a positive way rather than the doom and gloom you see people online have in regard to the subject. im very excited for the possibility 😊
Here are some ideas that could implemented in Soul Calibur 7 that i would love to see:
- More fantasy rpg looking visuals (i think the overall anime tone of sc6 hurt it's design more than it helped. I would love to see it coming back to the looks of Soul Calibur 3 or even 2)
- Less visuals noice. Even though Tekken 8 is itself loaded to the brim with flashy effects, it still manages to not look too tiring to the eyes when you try to react to fast animations (plus there's the option to tone down the effects witch i really like)
- content rich. I think Soul Calibur 3 was the king of the series in single player content. if Soul Calibur 7 could double down in its character creation it would be really cool to add the turn base strategy game or an rpg system so that it could go well with the pre mentioned fantasy rpg aesthetics.
This title just brightened my day. ! Please! 🙏🏾
A Soul Calibur with a amazing single player, great online, cross play, and accessible gameplay that doesn't rely on lame baby mechanics, would be just as successful as Tekken.
I dunno. I look at classic SC titles, and there's no more "baby mechanic" than "B B B B B." >.>
That's sort of the thing, it already *IS* a baby game and that's what made it so hype and popular. These new mechanics are adding (some) complexity, which detracts from that.
Thank you truly for this
Hope so soul blade A K A soul caliber was my first fighting game
One correction for the video. Soul Calibur 6 did have a system similar to Heat in Tekken 8. Soul Charge. It's an install (4A+B+K). Some moves gets extensions and deals bigger damage in the duration of Soul Charge. The only difference is that you have to build up the meter first before being able to use it.
Fun Fact: Some of Yoshimitsu's new moves came from Soul Calibur 6 when Yoshimitsu is in Soul Charge.
My soul is still burning and patiently waiting for a new Soul Calibur game... Send in The Round Table Knights
A Soul Calibur Collection would be most welcome
I hope so.
I recently replayed SC3 with friends and we were shocked by how many modes and story mode cutscenes there were. they put way more effort back in the day. we need that sort of passion in the next game.
Tekken 3 came out 2 years prior to the DC version of Soul Calibur. The exclusivity was likely because the Dreamcast had the most powerful hardware at the time.
2 things about the "expanding the weapon types" section: there are historically 3 characters using axes in the series, Rock in his Soul Edge version, Astaroth, and Lizardman. only Astaroth made it into 6, which is a damn shame, but there are axes in the series. Secondly, the Americas are discovered in the series' timeline, and Rock was even born there, having a native American character could totally make sense
God, I wish. Soul calibur 7 would be amazing, but 6 not selling a trillion copies pretty much was the final nail
Soulcalibur 1-3 really were its golden days.
I have a feeling that SC7 would be a great game to release towards the tail end or middle of this console generation now with all the biggest heavy hitters having been put out already.
I don't see that happening as much as I really want it to.
Bandai spun off the entire Project Soul.
Most soul calibur devs now work with tekken and there are some of them in GranblueVS rising.
And I'm playing granblue and I feel a little bit of soulcalibur in that game. I don't care what game they make, I just want to help the devs who made the game that helped me in the most difficult moments
I absolutely hope so. The state of 3D fighters is still bad. We need more variety. And soul calibur is one of my favorite games. SC6 despite not having much of a budget, was still a fantastic game.
Soul calibur 6 graphics still holds up to this day!!
It should.
Im still playing Sc6. Almost every day. Trying to achieve that S1 rank.
The ranked play is more populated on the Xbox. Not so much on the Ps4/5 but there are plenty playing casual mode.
i would really want another soul calibur man
I definitely need that Soul Calibur 7. SC and bloody roar will always be my favorite fighting games.
If granted a massive budget, hopefully they bring back additional weapon styles (like in SC3).
I still think that Big Daddy from the Bioshock series would be a great guest character. Baiken from Guilty Gear would be sick too. Karlach from BG3 might be an interesting possibility that would bring in a whole different group of people.
Soul calibur has some of the most interesting and personable characters, Love the rosters and I hope we get a new entry.
I had high hopes that Soul Calibur 7 would be more successful than 6. Since it would be a retelling of Soul Calibur 2-4. What I want to see is Cassandra preventing her niece from becoming Soul Edge’s new vessel, & her nephew being forced to fight his big sister, with Soul Calibur manipulating him into doing it.
I loved SC IV b/c it was the first game I played where they bounced. I enjoy VI. Maybe VII could include Stellar Blade.
Would like and always been wanting a spear user. The best example: Zhao Yun from Dynasty Warriors
Hilde? Girardot in SC3?
We could hope for them asking someon like arc sys to make one, granblue has Sigfried and 2B (well she was guest previous) so would be fun to make a Sam Sho style soul cal
No thanks. That wouldn't be SoulCalibur at all.
Edit: By the way, the Siegfried of Grandblue fantasy is NOT the same Siegfried of SoulCalibur.
SC is a series that comes. Loves. Dies and vanished only to come back again and again.
A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold. There should never be an end to it.
@@DashFighti don't care if it's SC 70 i'll come back from the grave and play it. my lord Voldo says so.
bring back brave edges and make two separate guard impacts one for highs and mids and another for lows that acts like tekkens low parry
Go play tekken then lol
@@ToastyYokai This. No need to make the guard impact system that complex when it can already counter EVERY attack direction. It's perfect the way it is now compared to how it use to be.
Assuming I live for awhile I'll just be waiting for new sc while playing the old ones and tekken
I honestly don't mind reversal edge, and having two bars of meter at our disposal. While Yoshi may not need it, Geralt heavily benefits from it.
SC6 sold extremely well-they are almost certainly already well into development of a sequel
I've always followed both series with interest. What's really funny to me is that while I enjoy Yoshimitsu a lot on SC, I hate using him on Tekken 8.
Soulcalibur 6 sold 2 million copies, which is the second best-selling game in the series. The best-selling game is still Soulcalibur 2, which sold 2.6 million copies, so there's a nice chance that it could have a sequel.
2 million for its life span is ok compared to Tekken 7 hit 10 million back in 2022 and has made more money since then before 8. Harada who was part of Project Soul has stated don’t ask about it. Bandai didn’t even want to make VI Okubo fought to have VI made and he left Bandai after Soul Calibur VI. So don’t expect one for a long time.

I mean SCVII met & exceeded the goal Bamco gave the dev team.
I’m pretty confident it may return, and if it looks anywhere as good as Tekken 8, graphics and cinematic wise (with hopefully a bigger budget cause SCVI was admittedly made on a shoe-string budget), I’ll be Happy
I DO like Reversal Edge, but yeah its TOO EASILY exploitable so to fix it IMO
1. It costs meter
2. Disable in Online Rank & any competitive play.
MY SOUL STILL BURNS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The meter in Soul Calibur 6 (soul charge) is actually a great mechanic that shouldn't be removed. But you are right about the convenience of removing Reversal Edge, yet it is a mechanic very sheldomly used in high gameplay.
I like soul calibur I hope they take feedback into consideration if they make another
If there is a new Soulcalibur, I hope they are able to add another Tekken Character into the roster and have that fighting style available in the customizer so we could make martial artist characters like Batman or Ryu easier.
We also need a new deff jam even tho it dont includes rappers maybe movie stars or sum
Def Jam! Now THERE'S a game, that needs a comeback
Im dying for soul calbur 7
Okay. So... the problem with this recommendation is that breaking up and cluttering backgrounds is the OPPOSITE of what would result in a smooth online gameplay expeirence.
90% of the problem with modern-graphical games trying to sync their rollback is that in UE, everything in the background is *also* considered a "gameplay object" for syncing purposes; where for a gameplay-focused experience, the only things that truly need to sync are the player characters; and the few interactive elements. This is why you constantly see online Top 8 tournaments with everyone throwing down in the Training Room/Grid stage - people are bottlenecked into this stage because it strips AWAY all of that unnecessary state syncing that goes with interactive backgrounds, and focuses on the part that matters - the performance of the playable characters.
I think they should just go back and make a Star Wars Calibur game. THAT is the sequel to 4 everyone was holding their breath for.
Reversal Edge was kinda wack - but more than anything, because the command for it replaced a throw command that I particularly used a lot, the B+G. It would've worked fine as a standalone attack, kind of like a Focus Attack in SFIV, without the whole cinematic RPS thing attached, as well. But the rest of the elements are just fine! Critical Edges are actually pretty cool; and are actually a throwback to Soul Blade/Edge; where super combos like this were universal and gauged (A+B+K)... and you had a few follow-up options to end them with.
It would be great to have SC revived. I would love to see a revival of Dead or Alive franchise. Sadly that has faded away...
7:00 OK but what makes a fighting game good is not how accurately the environment gets scuffed up during the battle. All of this stuff about a new engine is probably really expensive; if they made an SC7 at all, that'd be great. Do SC6 but take out reversal edge and put in good rollback and there you go! You've got a fantastic game.
If you can find someone to Champion it for the the company and assure them that it will be successful--
Oh wait, it already happened, it was the latest Sc, and jt failed and the director who fought for it left the company.
2nd time's the charm?
Did it fail? last time i checked it sold decently for the budget
@thehellslayer300 Yeah afaik it exceeded their sales expectations.
Granted it's far less than The big shots lil SF, Tekken & MK but still.
@@thehellslayer300. From a business perspective it's not a good investment.
Compare SC6 mere 2 million sales with Tekken 7 11 million sales for instance. It's not that hard.
And in the case they make another SC game, you will always have that budget problem, because for obvious reasons the company can't invest more of what they project to sell, and SoulCalibur is not a great seller.
And the low budget thing is a problem for the developers, not for the player.
If I go to a restaurant and ask for a hamburger, then I expect a good hamburger no matter what, not the sob story of why the hamburger was mediocre at best, especially when you are selling the hamburger at full price.
Well SoulCaliber 6 is on sale for $9.99 (down from $59.99) in the PlayStation store. Is it worth it?
Waiting for SC7.
Pretty positive sc7 is already in development. 6 was a huge unexpected but much needed success and single handedly revived the series by going back to its roots and adding fun mechanics for newcomers. It will always be my favorite fg franchise and i have faith that sc7 will get an eventual announcement soon. I love t8 but no other fg will ever take the place of sc for me.
Lol it wasn't a success...
they need to make many nods to soul calibur 2 and 3 in many ways also
Really hope for SC7 ❤
Ultimately, it's up to the shareholders. The larger the budget, the more Project Soul can do with SC VII.
project soul should do a hard reboot
@@ektran4205. They already did one.
@@SeventhheavenDK VI wasn't a hard reboot
Soulcalibur seems to have more interesting strategy , mental warfare if you will, while tekken seems to be simply more mechanically intensive, but the god awful 10-15seconds of watching your character get juggled in games like tekken and mk is why I will always remain in soulcalibur
Funny enough my friends and I picked soul Calibur back up. But I'm more interested in custom characters and custom character movesets
I'm baffled that they've yet to include a SC character as a guest.
In Tekken? No need. We have Yoshimitsu.

Capcom and NRS are smoking that pack.
It would be difficult because you would have to change some of the characters' attacks to hand to hand combat to match the Tekken characters, and if you did, you might as well create a new character altogether.
honestly I would love a new soul calibur that looks more like Soul caliburs beautiful artwork if they did not go for a more realistic style, something similar to what guilty gear did
I'm really hoping they go for a more realistic style like in sc and sc2. Not this anime type stuff
Does your soul still burn?
I'm down for SC7
If anyone is hoping for a next Soul Calibur game don’t expect one anytime soon Harada who was part of Project Soul stated to not ask about Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur V and VI didn’t not sell well enough for Bandai. VI was fought by Motohiro Okubo to make and left Bandai after the release of VI.
To be honest, i feel like they forget about soul calibur after 6 and the few dlc's it has
I feel like the sheer succes PLUS the extra MTX revenue could be enough. The biggest problem is convincing Bandai Namco executives, but if Harada proved that he can revive Tekken and then make it more popular then ever, I trust he can convince them to greenlight a new SC. Yeah, the previous director left, but I'm sure there are other experienced devs from Project Soul who could lead it.
honestly the problem is that SC comes from the same company and bamco will get more profits from making another tekken game rather than SC,its like rockstar, red dead and GTA both makes money but GTA makes them a ton more so rockstar prefers making another gta rather than spending that resources on a new red dead game! even if another SC happens,it will be in the next 2 or 3 years
Ngl a new SC would be hype af built on UE5!
Soulcalibur is like a finely tuned classic car that is worth fortune, Tekken is Instagram influencer sports car.
I can see Bandai Namco making another SC game the thing is tho I dont think it will be successful on the competitive side and having the mass popularity. Will probably do decent sales wise like SC6 tho
While, I love your presentation.
I don't agree that the models look better in Tekken 8 than they did in 7.
Raiden from the metal gear series, best guest character for soulcalibur, even though they are from different time periods
That would be a great fit 👍 👌
I love Tekken & Soul Calibur both
But there's an imbalance;
A Tekken 7 & 8 - but no Soul Calibur 7
We must maintain the continuum of both games!
SC has 7 main games in the series, SC 1-6 and the first game of the series Soul Edge/Blade (the name was changed due to copyright issues).
Both franshises are games from my childhood so yeah hopefully
Honestly for some reason I’ve always preferred the Soul Calibur series more than its partner series Tekken even if that series has more widespread popularity just prefer the more fantasy setting and weapon fighting styles. Similar to how I feel with Elder Scrolls towards the Fallout series.
Granted I still respect the Tekken and Fallout series.
I just played sc6 last night 😂
You know that BAMCO considered SC6 a financial success, and Team Soul was pulled to develop T8, which is basically SC6.5.
This comment is so wrong in many ways.
Why can’t soul caliber come out by it self why it gotta wait for tekken?
Am I the only one who doesn't like having to be at low health to unleash a super move?
Not could, WILL even a roumor that dates back to 2023 a remaster collection... so yes there's your answer.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: No, sir.
And I hate to say it, as a huge SC fan. But Namco just said they cancelled 5 games. I'm sure none were SC7, but we all know how risk-averse big publishers are now. Namco will likely keep milking the Tekken cash cow, rather than invest in creating and supporting SC.
I NEED SC7 to happen. But I hope they really put proper effort in it even post release and obviously great online. Oh and o bviously give us an IMPROVED character creator instead of copying the previous one. Oh and yeah get rid of Reversal edge.
They probably put Cassandra in Tekken 8 for later.Lizard man can replace Alex.Soulcaliber can be revived if BANDAI would give the game love like they did with TEKKEN 8.
To me - Soul Calibur 2 & 3 were the peak; due to the ideal formula in the fighting mechanics; & the
Shear amount of content - stuff to do
Take all that, give it today's graphics & frame rates & sound quality, online features, cross platform features, & there you go
Soul Caliber was the greatest. Vader, Vader, Vader heehee.
The series needs to go back to the roots. It needs to stay away from flashy combos and jailed attacked. Get rid of all the meter and one button comebacks, and the game will be a hit. The original premise was a weapon based fighter that was simple and easy to get into. Tekken 8 requires some hefty practice.
Considering that Tekken 8 will have quite extended support from developers, I wonder if Bandai Namco will have enough resources to allocate them for the new SC title development.
SC6's Lead Dev basically was the only guy at BanNam that cared about SC, and he left and he also said that they didn't get alot of resources from BanNam so it's unlikely they get full backing if a sequel is ok'ed.
@@cassardisygo150incorrect, it was harada that put okubo as producer of sc6, after sc5 there was no one either and that didn't stop 6 from being made
