Rakans ability to dance around the lane and harass the enemies is something most supports cant do, which is why he is great
i like that his heal requires him to attack, and his double dash allows him to catch up to the carry to peel, cc the other carry with W and comeback to the carry again, he can switch between attack and defense better than other supports

Bro try it out, I swear other meta supports are meta for a reason. Rakan needs a buff. I legit played him on adc build, full ap/tanky ap mage build, tank build you name it. I mean I can ban Morgana she's really annihilating Rakan but I can't also ban naut, brand, zyra, blitz, lux, malp.. I want rakan to be on their level, not a champ I pick cuz it's fun, I want him to be as effective as meta supports. If you're rakan you have to dominate botlane to be in a same level of a normal meta support, not even a dominating meta support :(
For me, Rakan my main, is the perfect champion, you can build enchanter, tank, both enchanter and tank like taric, heavy AP, enchanter with AP and in fun gamemodes there is also the option of crit Rakan which in my opinion is underated and can use his multiple dashes and cc to both run away and keep a safe distance and engage with a knockup and a stun to secure some one sided autoattack trades.

They were clearly overnerfed. Even if they're not played as much as before, they still have pretty respectable play rates around 4%.
The problem is their cooldown,which cant be buffed or else both would be too strong
@@duarteribeiro2558 honestly with how much cancerous BS is available in the botlane these days, seems a bit too heavy on the nerf side. Both have fairly conservative kits compared to say Samira or Pyke, putting the combo at a slight numbers advantage vs. the meme of the week to make up for overstuffed kits and mobility creep. After all a 0/10 Katarina can probably nuke a 10/0 ADC in this cursed meta.
@@DavidVallner I just don't get why Rakan can't have his r w combo again. We've gotten champs with better and easier engages (Rell, Fiddle rework).
And Xayah was good for a while even after being nerfed, until preseason, new items are horrible for her and force her into weird buildpaths (essence reaver) , if they buffed her to be less mana hungry she could build her powerspike items earlier and be more impactful.
And if these buffs would make them stomp lane if together, just make their synergies scale with lvl, so that they can balance their early game.
@@Danny_B13 the reason why Rakan can’t have his r w combo is because he would simply have the best engage in the game and therefore would dominate the pro scene and at the same time he can get in and out of fights safe so his engage would be unstoppable and the problem is he is a jack of all trades so if he has everything in his kit and the best engage/mobility compared to tanks engage champ like Leona it’s would be fair for them since Rakan would be so much butter

Tbh I love playing Rakan, as his style just clicks with me. The whole point of his existence is to cause disruption, and with good teamwork, there's not much the enemies can do.

He is also one of the best roaming support. Whenever I see that my ADC is a dumb-dumb I just buy mobi boot, sweeping len and a couple of control ward and start ganking top and mid.
Yes ! He is one of the few supports with good mobility , if ur good on him , the enemy team will never catch you

Same here, i love playing Rakan, as his gameplays is just like him, you must dance within the battlefield to disrupt the enemy and protect your allies
Xayah has to play around the feathers to do damage and has a nice R that sets up a lot of feathers. The sad part comes when you realize that you are better off saving R as a defensive tool than using it offensively
You can use it to turn around a bad duel though.

That's so me. Ulting rigth into Rakan's R, getting double kill, just to see jungle and mid coming for me, thinking "why didnt you greedy *** keep your R for defense?!"
I genuinely believe that the ONLY reason xayah is unpopular is that she is underpowered. I feel as if she weren’t nerfed due to pro play, she’d be a very popular adc.
Both of them are super fun to play while also being hard to learn (not too hard though). It’s just that other adcs and sups are more reliable on your own.
exactly. I used to love playing her, but like why continue to play xayah when ur not rewarded for being good at her. Why would i play xayah over kaisa when kaisa is legit better at everything lmao. Even with a rakan there are often better adc picks based on enemy team comp

give them another passive when theyre single. just a different set of augments to make up for the missing ones when theyre together
this would be super interesting!!! you could also base them off their relationship, something like a small movement speed buff during Rakan R in the spirit of "the faster i deal with those guys, the faster I can return to Xayah" or attack speed buff during Xayah W. Or maybe something with vision, as if they were looking for each other. Maybe even something like Bard's chimes, but feathers? so you can collect them as if they were clues with which they can find the other one. Though that would force a roaming playstyle so idk if it's a good idea
@@jackiem5703 collecting something to make up for the buffs they have together is an interesting idea tho!! maybe more like kindred's hunts? or like kai'sa's living weapon! or well senna's passive too lol there are literally so many possibilities but thats a good idea. if they are apart they have to work up to becoming as strong as if they were together basically.

I like playing Xayah because of her ass-kicking atitude and her interaction. I also love it when I root the whole enemie's team and then everyone just jump into that feast.
yeah same, i love playing both of them because i just love them is characters sm and both their playstyles are so much fun. however it sucks that they are just not doing great atm... i do think they both need a mini buff in some way
Nothing more satisfying than a massive aoe feather recall in a choke rooting 3 or 4 people and doing 60% of all their hp bars
it sucks cause they have the potential to be strong, but since the nerfs started coming through (as well as new champions) they've kinda been outclassed

@@ekko5596 Yes, and as for Xayah she needs too many items to spike bcs she needs AD, Crit, attack speed, haste and mana, the mythic system isn't great on her since none of the AD mythics favour AD casters and ER has been nerfed

Hybrid tank/suportive stuff with some AP also is quite good, in fact, it's what I consider his Meta build.

I feel very bad for my girl Xayah because for this whole season she has had a 47% win rate so I pray everyday for Riot to just buff her already.
sadly she probably will not be buffed (similar to lillia) due to the pro play scene.

I have to say those that Xayah is one of the few adcs that has some sort of cc in their kit and the only one that actually has a form of untargetbability. Both of these on paper should make her really broken so buffing her could actually be playing with fire for rito

The Xayah buff I've always wanted is just a 550 attack range. Even if her clean cuts feathers have the same range they do now, I think that an increased attack range is the most useful buff she could get.
And her ultimate cooldown down to 120 sec from 180 sec and so forth. Like make it so she can spam her ult like any other adc not waiting 3 whole minutes to just peel herself for 2 sec.

I remember the good old days when i learned how to play the game, i picked rakan while my friend picked xayah, i was really bad and she was really good, somehow she never get mad at me, and i end up improoving really fast
good friends who introduce new people to league of legends should never flame and treat them like what they are, new to a super complex and full of content MOBA, start slow, get the basics out of the way, be patient, etc. if you're gonna flame your friend for doing something they don't even know what is, then you're not a good friend and you're also toxic and uncomprehensive. BTW not an attack, just saying, like, i a friend who i played with once when i was starting would keep flaming me for taking cs as support, and i didn't even know what it was, lol.
@@RegahP yeah. i got flamed by my friend when i first started as well. as soon as he finished teaching me the very basics, when we got into actual matches, he constantly flamed me for the littlest things, like keeping track of what items your enemy bought.

I love the way Xayah plays, aswell as her kit it just really feels comfortable to me and I love playing her. It’s just at the moment with her 47% win rate she just isn’t delivering. Riot really need to buff the pair.
The fact that Rakan and Kai'sa got matching world championship skins in season 2019 says a lot about how the Xayah-Rakan duo is doing PS: they didn't fix it since then

When I first started playing league of legends I instantly fell in love with Xayah, everything about her resonated with me and when I had enough BE I immediately bought her. But it's been a real struggle, not only finding someone that even remotely likes to play Rakan, so we can duo, but also with the nerfs she got, the new store and right now it seems like almost all the ADC are getting some type of buff besides her.
Seeing so many Rakan mains in the comments is honestly a huge surprise, like where have you been all the time, do you hide or something 😂
We should seriously create a discord server or whatever for all the Rakan and Xayah players across the servers to gather around to.
Xayah is my most played champ, yet I hadn't played her in a very very long time until I decided to play her one game just now. Terrible. I'm giving up on this champ, just no point in playing her if I'm gonna be on a constant disadvantage.
My main support is actually Rakan, but i don't play support that often in general, I'll usually go with Yasuo in mid. But when I happen to be playing support i always pick Rakan.
@@mariostoynov I love Xayah too. She is so cool but you have mostly a hard time against other enemy ADCs. The worst thing is, if you are playing against an ADC, who is your counter. You have to hope that he does a really big mistake or you get help by your jungle, or you are loosing in your lane. This is most of the time so annoying, because you get countered by so many champs. She really needs a little buff, or she will stay out of the game.

the comparison between Rakan and Leona’s CDs told me that Leona needs longer CDs

Rakan is one of the champs with the most mobility in the game. And tbh, its very easy if your against a leona as rakan

Well , how can i say this , HE IS MEANT TO BE THE STAR OF THE SHOW, w and r make him do that , q imo is just a range ability necesarry for suport item, and e is literally how he comes to xayah.
+ early game sucks for him and late game with CDR and Tank items (usuless suport items) he is a monster that can tank , deal dmg and protect/heal too , rakan is litarally meant for late game , and in low elo is very ez to cary with him and yasuo XD

He does have very good engage BUT this only becomes amazing the higher you climb as players learn how to follow him.
With all this I wouldn't recommend playing him in solo Q, unless u are Diamond+

They could buff their base stats for a start like Xayah's basic attack range and Rakan's health and/or armor and magic resist.
remove their passives together, add new passives together that they always get when near eachother and situationally get when not.
Gotta be careful with buffing marksmen base attack ranges. Even 25 range let alone 50 would be a massive (and I mean MASSIVE) buff
i still see a lot of xayah, she does something other adcs cant, her ultimate is an amazing protection against assasins if you have a support to react during the invulnerability

As a Xayah main, there's nothing more frustrating than watching someone pick rakan when they have no idea how the champ works, just because they think the lane is "OP".

As an m7 Xayah and Rakan player, I have to say that I love how accurate this video is to my own thoughts, I had always thought Rakan felt like he was more of a jack of all trades and that xayah's feathers make it very difficult to do much against targets that aren't locked down, and I'm glad to see that somebody who has covered half my champion pool in WNOP is still pointing out shortcomings that I have noticed, and it isn't just me playing the game wrong
I main support and love Rakan but I feel like the Xayah Rakan synergy goes deeper than just their ability bonuses. For example, Rakan highly appreciates the root xayah gives him for an easy engage set up. Xayah also appreciates how Rakan can go in then go out to assist for her if she was in danger :)
If they’re too strong together then just nerf the buffs they get for being together. Just nerf the bonuses they get for operating as a pair so it’s more of a cute gimmick than a crucial part of their function as champions.
the problem wasn't the buffs they get for being together, it's that their kits complemented each other extremely well to the point that there was almost no room for counterplay when they were together

they both have 3% play rate combined i think
I would give them a soft rework:
Xayah: gets +50 attack range when holding feathers. This attack range buff is permanent when playing with Rakan on the same team and she doesn't need feathers for it.
Rakan: Keeps the +300 increased dash range when playing with Xayah, and it's just always-on with her. However, he also gets that same dash range buff if he or an ally has less than 50% health.
They both can also continue to recall together.
These kinds of synergies are just: these champions can get the buffs normally, but just more consistently or permanently when playing together. It's still unique to them, but I do not think that the increased uptime of that will severely impact their viability to the point where they NEED each other to be viable.
The ideas on its own are great, but a constant +50 range buff when a Rakan is in the team is probably too strong. The idea to make Rakan's E have longer range on his allies too if low does seem great though, and maybe make Rakan's Q drop a feather when a champ got hit :D just make it adapt to his skin (golden for standard for example) and scale of his AP
@@DevourerDragons yeah maybe not hold the 50+ range foverer with rakan but i do think her feathers autos could have maybe a little bit additional damage so she has better synergy with essence reaver, and the rakan q dropping a feather behind the enemy hit sounds really cool, i like the range thing but im imagining playing with it and it could feel a little clunky unless you have enough CDR, with essence reaver and navori, to always have abilities up to use before you run out of feather autos, without enough CDR you'd be constantly having to get closer or farther like when you have high attack speed but also a fire cannon, you auto fast, one auto and then you gotta get closer, etc. But i'd love another ADC with a bit more range than average, literally caitlyn bullies every other adc there is just because of her range advantage, there needs to be more of them, or none, not just one who gets free 100+ range and pokes and kites other adcs.

What if they had a different bonus/change when they were without their partner? It could reflect their personality when they are alone. Like sure, they get stronger when together, but maybe when alone and missing their second half, another part of their kit works differently?
Something to just make it a choice, do you want them paired together or do you want them apart?
Xayah requires you to play around your feathers and why make it so difficult when you can play kai’sa, samira or tristana to instantly have a much bigger chance of winning?
Xayah was the only adc I played for months, played sivir once and felt like I had been cheated the whole time. Xayah just sucks man. Why would I even bother having to set up all my feathers if I can just spam sivir q from a distance and kill everybody? It's a shame that the most unique adcs are also the worst.

Xayah's main damage ability is W, the feathers or her E is just for stun/damage to assassins or anyone who comes too close to her (most of the time) because the closer the enemy is the more feathers will hit the enemy(most of her feathers even if the feathers are scatters so no need to set up), and her q is just to set-up a stun also ultimate as well (but also u can dodge with her ult). So it's not completely playing around her feathers tbh
It's not that Xayah is harder to play than others, she is just weak. Look at her ult cooldown for a 1 second of untargetability, it's just too high she can't do shit
It feels the same with Ezreal tbh. Landing every single skill shot just to deal damage. I played Jhin for one game and ran through the enemy team, right click to win. Wish the more fun/unique/skill based champs were at least worth the effort compared to other champs
bro I’m a support main that has m7 on Rakan and have for a while now and that’s because he’s amazing, but when you play with a random Xayah it feels like you just met your childhood crush who just said they like you back, it feels bloody amazing
They could give them some more broad synergy, the same way Yasuo can ult from any knockup, Samira can extend any stun and Seraphine can improve any CC the enemy already has, stuff that can work with any character, but just so happens to work well with each other.
Like "Xayah grants buff to the last person who shielded her" or "Rakan gets extended cast range based on ally attack range" and "each can teleport back with any ally, but only if they recall within the first 2 seconds of channel, and if together, the passive stacks with itself, extending it to 4 seconds"
Plus, it would be funny seeing either Xayah or Rakan awkwardly dance around a recalling ally.
I love the design of Xayah and she is one of my favourite adcs to play whenever I'm looking to mess around with friends. Riot could maby reduce the ult cooldown on xayah because that is what I most often strugle with. Not having ult up. It is such a long cd for an ability you need to survive 3 seconds if the enemy team has any kind of hard engage or assasins.
I main Xayah and I love her :3 The funny thing about this video is that you can easily setup feathers because most of the people don't care about where your feathers are and just get rooted out of nowhere XD.. but i loved the video :)
(I mean in teamfights, in laning phase most adcs do notice your feathers and try to play around it)
What I like about Rakan is that he can fulfill the role of an engage support all while technically being an enchanter. I really love playing enchanters but sometimes I really need a good engage when I get an aggressive adc like Vayne or Kai'Sa and Rakan just really helps a lot in those situations.
Rakan is underrated af , only Xayah is problematic imo

i have never loved a champ as much as i love xayah.
she is extremely fun to play and ends up dealing so much dmg, so tbh idc about the low winrate as long as i can have a fun game with a champ i love playing.

Hi, i've been playing both Xayah and rakan for a while and here's what i tell my friends everytime we talk about these characters
i think the best course of action to help the couple perform better is to allow them to put their unique passives on anyone, similar to Kalista
the idea is that at lvl 6- if Xayah or rakan is being played without the other- they should be awarded a feather of trust, which would be a one time use item similar to knights vow that would give one person on your team your special passive (does not have to be the adc, if rakan wants to dash to a tank he could i guess). However, if rakan and xayah ARE played together, they will both get their unique passives from level 1
Xayah is my favorite champion in lol and one of my mains, too bad she's been in a bad spot :(

Xayah is my main and i love the fact that i have to keep track of the feathers, is fun XD. I see the problem, but me and my bf play a lot and if u play them well u can really have a good game. But its true that they are weaker separately. I think Rakan is more easy to play with other Adcs then Xayah with other supports
I know this is about PC League of Legends, but ever since I started playing Wild Rift, Rakan has been my main and now I'm Platinum. I don't know the power difference between games, but Rakan is absolutely viable in WR.
He probably meant as a duo.. and not as solo with a different support or adc.
In some tier lists Rakan is in S tier in wild rift and he is getting some buffs next patch, also some runes he uses well are getting changed to a better version too while on league pc he is really down the list because of nerfs and supports who can fight better in the meta
he is good because there arent many champs in wr
mobile champions like rakan is better in wild rift bcs the map is smaller and mobile champions in a smaller map always have advantages, in league pc however the map is bigger and dashes barely cover any distance which gives space for immobile champions to avoid engages and catches
i solo carried vs a duo with allistar in wild rift, the power balance is way different in wild rift, every one dies faster, which means a tank can kill a carry simply by not dying before he can do that
I don't know how to change Xayah, but if Rakan got a shield when using his e, it might help to make him slightly less squishy
maybe make that if he lands a Q he gets cooldown reduction on his passive

i love these two champs. i literally ask friends to play either of the two and i will play the other.
they are so adorable and cute i just love them both so much.
i do however love playing rakan the most of the two because i am support main and also his playstyle is hella fun.
also tho anytime i do see a rakan or xayah being picked on my team and im support/adc i just have to pick the other.
A couple of days before this video got released I started spamming Xayah. I'm currently at a 70% win rate with her and have played her for roughly 30 games :3 I'm absolutely in love with her design! My best friend who's a support main decided to try out Rakan and atm it's our absolute favorite combo to play! I'm almost mastery 5 only missing about 1K mastery and once my friend reaches mastery 5 too we plan on gifting each other the star guardian skin for the other's champ :3

nono trust rell is super fun to play and sometimes actually pretty annoying to go against... I am an adc/sup Main but I can imagine that if you're an assassin jumping on the adc and get insta stunned by an aoe stun it's pretty annoying...
her W is canceled pretty easily with the right Champs and timings but if she hits it its a big BIG OOF
basically she has a ton of cc [pain]
I tbh don't see too many rells as well but I feel like ppl don't play her too much because while for example a Leona can easily 1v1 an adc for example rell can't, her attack speed doesn't allow it and she doesn't provide enough instant cc on her own
shes like I'd say mhmhmhmhm bad example porbbaly but taric who's just a tanky tank who can't really do flashy things on his own (tho his stun can be cast on himself which is a difference but I hope you get me kinda)
As said above Rell is worse Leona in terms of solo queue. Not only that but Rell requires a lot more cooperation from the ADC due to the fact she's much slower and vulnerable after her engage. If your ADC fucks something up you suffer twice as much as another tank support would.
Rell imo is the more feast and famine version of Leona,IF she hits everything and she gets the follow up she honestly feels broken but it goes both ways, is she goes in and something goes wrong or you get counter engaged your screwed plain and simple
in pro play shes solid but in my plat games I never see her

Raken: Too reliant on coordination to be a soloq champion, too easy to punish since he can't tank, terrible numbers bcs he's a Jack of all trades.
Xayah: She's always in the low side of the charts because Riot keep her numbers low so she won't become dominant on pro play, she misses the old Essence Reaver, not as simple to execute like other marksmans

@@DIRTkat_ofc Even an ADC can tank if he's feed and build some tanky itens, what I mean is that Rakan doesn't have any tool for this. Most of the time Rakan wants to go in, CC chain people and go out before getting deleted

The point is that Rakan has doesn't have self-resistance buff like Leona, Alistar or Rell, so he is harder to tank hit.

I feel like small changes to xayah could be increasing her range so she can peel a bit better, or like at 5 stacks of feather she throw out to feathers so she can root better on her own.
With Rakan maybe his w does like health percent damage so he can build tankier for more sustain.

I'm a big fan of the character. Even if their gimmick ends up making them niche, they fulfill a really cool unique role in the game unfilled by anyone else. Kind of like how Yuumi brings a whole new gameplay element to league (even though a lot of people don't like Yuumi lol)
I'm a xayah main and I wish more people picked her up she is amazing once you get the hang of her her feathers feel so fun to land

YAY A RAKAN ANALYSIS!! One of my favorite champs in the whole game! I agree with many of the statements made here. Rakan is a Jack of all Trades, Master of None kinda guy. I miss the old engage a lot and wish it could be brought back (I absolutely love the crazy light show of his R > Flash > W combo), but I know that ain’t happening. I’d say a CD change on his W and E would be nice so he could more reliably be in and out of a fight, but that’s just because I play Rakan focused around his Speed, some players build him Tanky or even Full AP. While I was really active in league, I did not have a Xayah GF (or a Xayah Main) with me most of the time. I heavily relied on Vision Score, Macro, and Mobility to catch out my opponent or surprise them in the middle of a team fight. Basically, I roamed a lot.

This video really perfectly details the reason why this duo needs some sort of change. Even just a minor change to them individually and rework one of their synergies as a result. Pro play also is a big part of why they got nerfed so hard, unfortunately.
I have onetricked/mained Rakan for 3.5 years - I started out by maining Xayah when they came out, because I was an adc main in Season 7. When I became a support main, and discovered how fun he was, I became so much better at League and I learned the flow of League so much more easily through playing him. However, the past year or so has been pretty rough on him, and it feels like he has hardly any agency anymore - and I'm not just talking about the W speed/Flash combo nerf. His armor isn't what it used to be, as you stated, and everyone walks out of his abilities before they can catch up to him unless you are using 1000% of your brain power and outplay every single time. I still love Rakan, and will continue to play him regularly, but it's a shame to see the two champions struggle for so long and Riot is just ignoring it.
I'd say the best way to help Rakan is tweak his passive to increase his ability to survive. Maybe they could improve the scaling and cooldown or they could make it give extra (Scaling) MR and Armor while its active.

They could make their passive sinergies a quest instead, something like senna vs thresh... Idk rakan could heal a certain amount of hp to xayah to gain some bonus healing and so on

As a Rakan primary main and Xayah secondary, I would like to note that even if Rakan cannot W or Flash after R he still can engage out of screen as quick as he could before because his E doesn't get that nerf. Of course it is riskier for Rakan since he needs to R way earlier and can miss the combo much easier but it is still somewhat there.
The old combo would be: E R Flash W and E for disengage if needed
and the new now is: R E Flash W and E for disengage if needed
All that assuming he is the second engage, so he can use E first, else he is much weaker since he needs to W R instead of R W which means that he needs to give the opponent a window to escape his W instead of using R to secure it.
Being a Rakan main in Season 10, it’s really hard to return to him. I love the man, but the little problems with him (cool downs being long, weird buffer times between casting and landing W, and R being practically useless at times) really get me down. My boy needs some love, but, “Love is SO cruel” -Rakan

Honestly, their synergy is the problem imo. By designing the champions so explicitly to work with each other, their numbers (Xayah's at least) have to be intentionally crippled to keep them from dominating on their own. I think the best thing to do here is to distribute power away from the abilties that buff each other in exchange for higher base numbers. That or remove the synergy entirely.
finally, someone spoke up about xayah and Rakan's issues in laning, also, I just want to point out that when you try to use the color setting to see where xayah's feathers will land just tell riot they need to get better at adjusting the color setting a bit.
Maybe an anti-synergy system would work. If Xayah/Rakan are on the same team but one is dead they get a "heartbroken" debuff. Less attackspeed for Xayah, reduced jump range for Rakan, or something to that effect. This would allow both champions to exist without each other on the rift, yet be more powerful as a duo. The counterplay is simple, kill one and the other looses some power.

For Xayah I feel like her numbers are a little to low before 4-5 items. But I'm at the start of the video so we will see. Keep up the great work!

The largest problem with ADCs this season is that DPS crit based carries got totally screwed over by the new items and crit damage changes. The most dominant carries (Kaisa, Senna, Jhin, Vayne, Tristana) have built in % health damage and/or crit modifiers, and they rely on burst damage and outranging the enemy. Compared to other carries', Xayah's bread and butter combo takes too long to set up, and doesnt deal a ton of damage until you're 3-4 items deep. By that point, Jhin has probably already snowballed with Galeforce +Collector.

I find this series so funny to me. I play almost all the roles equally minus mid and I think almost every champion I play has been in this series XD. I'm glad that I can find joy in the fact that I like unique or challenging champions that require me to play the game better then the average player.
