Nice
It is a unique video on this topic because everyone has talked about how to develop WordPress site using localwp but didn't answer how to make live it at the end
Thanks WpTuts
I think it is also important to show how future updates to the site will be made.
what timing. I'm literally building a blueprint site in Local when I saw this video. Something to note; when creating that first WordPress username, that will become the default admin. If you push this to a production site, that information (including email address) will become part of the live site. Make sure to create a 2nd admin account with real credentials, or be prepared to update that initial account with real credentials, or you might have a hard time accessing the site in production.
Nice work Paul! Never thought about using the key!!!!! Much easier than downloading backup and uploading.
Wow, thanks I've always used migration tools in the past, but this is a game changer, no more downloading and have to increase file sizes to upload, this takes car of any of that. Thanks Paul
Always the best tutorials! Thanks for helping us out.
My pleasure!
Obrigado por essa aula. Por gentileza, fale mais sobre blueprint.
I already have two sites using local and it's solid
Always love your content - please a video on Blueprints!
Great tutorial, as usual. Thank you! Could you do a follow-up video demonstrating the rest of the features?
I like free, free is good :) great share thank you.
Great vid Paul! Would love a tutorial on blueprints
This is a game changer.
Thank you very much for your tutorial! Please can you speak more about Live links in LocalSite?
Thank you for this great video and information. I'd be interested in learning to use blueprints in local. Thanks :)
The Duplicator plugin may be of interest to you. I use it to keep an upto date WP template with all my plugins, settings etc which I upload to a new site, saving me many hours.
@@zadekeys2194 Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out :)
great video!!!

Thanks for this! Can you make a video on how to use those two plugins to push changes to a website without loosing any "production data"? Is it feasible or is it only for the initial push for a brand new website?
Would SO love to use this but I've never been able to keep it working right on Windows for very long. Even lost a project that was nearly completed because Local took a big dump for some reason. Even so, it's been a while. Might try it again... but be warned that this can happen and I wasn't the only one it happened to, nor was the forementioned the only time.
I had lots of problems in Windows when I tried Local years ago. It does seem more stable on the Mac so far, but I agree that it's not perfect.
Windows System Restore should be your 1st stop. If that doesn't work, use an older restore point and if that still doesn't work, restore from a system image. :)
Had that same problem
But wp studio works like a charm
I couldn't get Local to work and gave up on it but someone said try to switch to Apache I put PHP 8.3.0 and Maria Database, don't know if these settings are good or not but it seems to be working, and what came out of the box when I downloaded it to my computer wouldn't run, had to keep downloading the database when I fired it up the next day.... hope that helps
Paul great overview. The process looks simple. I'm struggling to decide between Local, InstaWP, or a staging site on the host provider.
InstaWP is what I generally use these days, but cloning on your final hosting destination also has positive benefits.
If you’re building there, you’re pretty much guaranteed for the end result to work as there’s no change in server environment between dev and live.
Thanks for this! 2 questions: what happens if I use a plug-in with a single site license which I already use in a live installation? Also: if I would like to move a live site into local for further development, can this be done (and how) - or is there a better approach ? Thanks
Q1. This will depend on the plug-in your using. Each Dev handles this differently.
Q2. I assume you want a staging version of a live site ? In my experiance it's highly beneficial to have the staging environment on the same infrastructure as the live site, this minimises issues with things like NGNX and Apache or different PHP versions etc.
Hi Paul, congratulations and thanks for the tutorial, very useful. I have a question: I would like to develop the site in Local from my office PC and from my home laptop. It's possible? Thank you in advance for your kind response.
Anything is possible, but it comes down to "is it a good solution/idea" and your technical abilities. As you've asked, you'd have to sync each Local install DB...don't... Path of least resist ace is to set up on your office PC and VPN to it... Don't use RDP... Use WireGuard for a fast and secure solution.
Hey WPTuts, Could you create a detailed tutorial on setting up and hosting a WordPress/WooCommerce site on VPS or dedicated servers with providers like AWS, Vultr, and DigitalOcean? Could you also include sections on securing, optimizing, and managing the server ourselves? Please start with the basics, even if it means adding a Linux fundamentals module to your course or playlist. Thanks!
It's interesting to hear how quickly and without dancing with a tambourine the issue of issuing an SSL certificate from LocalWP on Mac OS is resolved.
Excellent video, WordPress already released a local Meet Studio by WordPress version, could you do an in-depth tutorial on this tool please?
I’ve covered Studio for WordPress and also done a comparison with Local and couple of weeks ago.
Check out the channel for them. 👍
Local is great tool, loved it but outdated for linux users. Somehow installed it on Debian 12 but no hope in Ubuntu.
How can i install pro version of any plugin in local host sir ?
The same as you would anywhere else. It's just a local development environment running Windows.
how is this free if you have to upgrade to a creator plan on Wordpress to install plugins? I can't install a plugin unless I upgrade
Sounds like you're using WordPress.com which is a totally different setup to self hosted WordPress, which is what I'm covering here.
I have a Mac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015 model with OS 12.7.5. When I download Local and try to open it, I get this message: "The disk image couldn't be opened. "Couldn't read file or malformed UDIF image." What do I do next?
I'd recommend reaching out to the developers to see if they have an idea. I'm guessing that it may be an OS thing as we're on 14.5 right now.
@@WPTuts Thanks. I will do that.
Easy troubleshooting step - create a new user account called Test or Dev etc, redownload the file and see if it works there. If it does, either the original download is corrupt or your user profile is corrupt.
@@zadekeys2194 Tried. Failed again. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@NealUmphred555 Also by having the WP site hosted, you offload lots of security and performance to the host, and you can do live performance testing as you build, using tools like GTMetrics. Basically good hosting is what I strongly recommend for WP live sites and staging.
Is this sponsered by Local? Be honest.
Built a site in local and got loads of errors when i uploaded it, had to build the site again, won't use it again.
LOCAL THE BEST!
