- Can't believe I'm still doing this. Pog. Anyways, for this showcase, presenting Yutaka Nakamura, a very popular Studio Bones animator who is most well known for his scenes in My Hero Academia, but also contains some very underrated scenes in other shows. His animations are, well, something else. He's capable of creating some of the most impactful punches, movement, and background animation, with his impact frames being something completely out of this world. 100% MVP from Studio Bones.

someone finally made an original joke about the cubes! It's always "you know shits about to get real when the ground turns into cubes 🥴"
300th like
You know shit's about to get real when the ground turns to cubes.
😭😭😭💯
Im confused, why sometimes they animate ground to cubes? Easier to animate?
@@barel8741 it is easier to animate
@@barel8741 that's the trademark arts style of yutaka nakamura
@@barel8741 well for the most part, yes it is easier to animate. But it also feels more impactful that way
This is "demand your salary" levels of animation. This dude's action scenes are usually the most memorable parts of many good anime
fr!
Facts!!
Sad thing is that even great animators don’t get payed a lot over in Japan when you think about their talent and the amount of work they do. Instead, it’s the voice actors that get the celebrity treatment and pay.
@@DripGxd_Cam yeah sad truth VA get more recognition and payment
@@DripGxd_Cam how much they got paid anyways?, I won't say they need to get pay more if I don't know the real thing.
What I read from media isn't really about freelance animator, and it's more about animator under studio that animate not on this level (less moving part), that don't get paid a lot.
Back to my question btw, I don't know how much they got paid compare to other
Can't believe almost all of my favorite combat scenes were made by a single guy.
That's what I'm saying!
Probably not by a single guy, pretty sure they're a team and he's the main animator
It wasn't just made by a single guy tho. It's team work. But he was involved in major part.
it's not by a single guy but he's the key
But there are "one man teams", stated by one of the guest episodes of Trash Taste, that he has seen or heard of them. I don't know if Yutaka Nakamura is a "one man team" but he is godly in his work.
4 things i notice about his animation style:
1. The ground/building will be cube when its break
2. When impact happen, there will be a millisecond of white and black colour impact
3. When there are powerful force, he will add a light purple-ish colour into the middle of orange colour
4. For character who moves so fast, in motion, their body become static and the cloth will move fast
Damn, he make me want to learn animation
@@roolph5818 And for the impact frame he's the one who popularized and he also invented it.
@@joshieee2302 impact frames have always existed i believe just being black then white, he probably popularized the stylistic impact frame
@@R0s3456 From what I recall he was the one using it ecer since. Have you watch Towa no Quon? It's a 6 part movie also from Bones and Nakamura contributed one of his amazing cut there and also on that show the first the impact frame is used and it was back 2011. See the movie the animation is so spectacular
@@joshieee2302 ah i haven't, i'll have to give it try
@@R0s3456 Try it now the movie series only have 6 episode, sadly it was an rush show since the maker die. To show respect BONES still animated the show and it was still good.
No wonder this has been a “trend”. It’s all one person.
The community made a name for it, its called "yutapon cubes". And many other animators also have started to take inspiration and adapted the yutapon cubes themselves, so it is a trend sorta
@@cartoondimensions did Yutaka the one who invented this cube?
@@gigglymesh1145 nope but he is the one that popularized it because his style is so extra and fluid by standard so the Cube is more noticeable.
@@raifikarj6698 ohh okay, thanks for the info
@@raifikarj6698 Who was the originator of the concept?
He is a master of movement. How he makes it flow, slowing time the moment before impact and accelerating it again after it is so satisfying.

Bruh that Todoroki vs Deku animation still gives me chills after how many years? This man has some mad skills 🙏🏻
Same. Honestly my favourite piece of animation ever. So good.

i dont remember anything else of that tournament but that fight and animation is legendary. I remember the teachers were oh shit and jumped in
He also did Deku Vs Bakugo
holy shit... that's the animator who did "that" kekkai sensen scene?!

Thats it. Just Amazing.
Its actually not budget, its just smart and good animation... all the techniques he uses are simple and fast to do, but is executed so correctly and smoothly that you would think it is overly budgeted, yes his direction is just simply too good.
@@onivirus4456 yes
@@onivirus4456 exactly. Maybe because of the popular Unlimited Budget Works meme that ppl think any good animation has to be about money

WHAT IS HAPPENINGG
is it silly but we can still consider it as epic
@@realchezboi they having a dance-off
goofy ahh dance
He really do like flashy blast stuff and squared block
Also little colorful blobs flying around representing people.
I love this animation style, its just beautiful
fun fact: Making the debris square makes it harder to animate because now, the pieces need to fit together compared to just making it into a mess of rubble crumbling to random shapes. But by doing so, it looks more satisfying and appealing because geometry.
It's beautiful, I've looked at that for 5 hours now

Anime character: slicing in a triangle direction*
Yutaka: "I like cubes And so do you"
He’s almost single handedly made every good fight scene in MHA
This guy has such a unique style. I see others pointing out his use of orange color with purple highlights in the middle to accentuate a powerful blast. Geometric patterns especially in the form of cubes when something breaks.
This is a fantastic example of an artists flair.
This man not only makes incredible scenes, but throws in his own unique signature to show it was he who made it.
You will not watch a scene with that orange purple blast, or the cubic debris that follows such a blast without recognizing the work of this man.
Absolutely fucking brilliant. Inspiring to say the least.
So he basically Invented deku's fast punches color?

Berserk: *Exists*
Every Good Studio and Animator: I don't even know who you are
Why is this so true? T-T
Nobody wants to take the resposability of animating the best manga of all time (and I think it's impossible too).
@@andrecostafrancaWell, Berserk isn't the only victim
Kingdom, Blade of the Immortal, Flowers of evil and now even Blue Period's adaptation was Disaster
Why is that Irredeemable Garbage like Boruto and My Hero Academia and Mediocre garbage like Demon Slayer get so many Seasons and Episodes while Actual quality series can't even get a decent adaptation
It has really made me lose faith in the Industry
All we get now is Isekai Shlock after Shlock,
That Mob Psycho scene is one of my favourite animated sequences ever. The movement is portrayed so well it's phenomenal.
人の動きをゆっくりにして背景に力を入れることでめちゃくちゃパワフルに動く!
やっぱりアクションアニメはド派手じゃなきゃ!
動きの緩急がとんでもなくハマるんだよね
i love the feeling of nakamura's scenes. there's this stop-go rhythm, a mix of very visceral and grounded kineticism/body physics contrasted with a feeling of weightless flying or spinning. heavy and light. it just feels so powerful. it reminds me of skydiving
The choreography is also so good, looking at 1:46 the way he create the wind effect is so real

Watching the MHA scenes id be willing to bet they also animated THAT most recent scene in MHA with Iida Tenya

He animates a fast moving background and combines it with slow moving characters. It just builds up so much power with the added overuse of impact frames

Many of the best scenes in anime were done by this legend of a man/woman.
Im just extremely thankful to him, many of these scenes make me feel strong emotions, and im somebody who barely feels spikes in emotions during the day.
He’s a man

The term “GOAT” is thrown around a lot these days. In sports, in music, in gaming. It’s always debatable. But Yutaka Nakamura is the only person in his craft who is literally the greatest of all time. His scenes are always pushing the boundaries. He’s not competing with Norio Matsumotos, or Disneys. At this point he’s competing with himself. Not debatable. The GOAT for real.

If we pay animators good, I can't even imagine how far we'd be in terms of quality animes
