On paper it might seem that way, but in action it's just a gorgeous adventure you have to be a bit more careful at parts. Come along with us as we start at the Buffalo Outdoor Center Cabins, wake up early to take on the Center Point Trial to the Goat Trail eventually reaching the site of interest, Big Bluff, and give you our takeaways from the hike.

I've hiked a lot of places over the last 50 years. The best; bar none; is just a few miles down river from Big Bluff; of all places. It is the Indian Creek Trail. The trail head is at Kyles Landing Campground ; south side of the river. It is marked on Google maps. Click on the icon for PHOTOS! (don't let your eyeballs pop out of your head) The photos can't even come close to being there. At the top end; the creek is very narrow; and the walls are 800+ ft. high.
Oh my gosh that looks INCREDIBLE. We'll definitely have to hit that trail next time! Thanks for the recommendation 😄
@@NomadicWeekenders You welcome. It is a very strenuous adventure; but well worth the effort. The place is surreal; almost dream like. It will never leave your mind. Just came across your channel last night (saw your Cay Caulker episode). Y'all do great videos; and now subscribed.
That means a lot! Thank you! 🙌
We have a lot of cool stuff to come too
That means a lot @@james3452 thank you! More to come. :)
My wife and I used to do weekend adventures like this all the time to the Buffalo River area and all over the Ozarks. Now we have a toddler and I found myself on this video doing research for the first trip for the 3 of us. Enjoyed the video 😀
Lived there for 15 years; never should have left. Used to backpack the equestrian trail along the river; and would always spend the first night on that big gravel bar down below Big Bluff. Thanks for the memories. Left mid 2005. Back ion Ft. Worth ever since.
It's such a hidden gem in the south! We live in the DFW area too - it's definitely not as green out there 😅
God's country, where you can live from eating nothing and just drink in the scenery.
Did this hike a few years ago. Very Awesome and can get sketchy!. Great Video
Tell us about it! Definitely a bit more sketch then we anticipated, but such a good hike. Especially on the way back
Very nice video. Thank you for bringing us along. All the best to you guys.
Nice video! A very beautiful place to vacation. Getting up early is always good to beat the crowds.
And makes for better footage as well 🙌. Thanks for watching!
just went on this hike this weekend with a group of about 20 friends, one of the most breathtaking and terrifying things i’ve done!! 10/10 would recommend
Hell yeah sounds like an awesome time! I'm sure the fall colors were beautiful!
I love how you can tell you two love one another so much 😍😍😍 thanks for sharing this! 🥰
Aw thank you for the sweet words! Thanks for watching 😊
The way down is exciting, then the way back up is exhausting 😂
Haha totally!
Great video. Agree with comment about Indian creek. I’ve done it twice and it’s crazy
Just did this hike a couple weeks ago. Didn’t take my drone though. Didn’t think the $5,000 fine and 6 months in jail would be worth it. Big penalty for droning in a national Park.
To bad its not a National park where they were. Only National Forest.
Very cool video ❤ but a stupid rule on the river is no drones and they will fine ya if caught. safe hiking and happy late birthday 🎉
Just a curious question. I was told drones are illegal here and in National Forest but I see that you are using one. Did u get permission or just did it anyways? If you got permission how did u go about it? Just curious because I just purchased a drone and I’m strongly for following the law of The National Forest and insuring the leave no trace policy. Thanks 💪
Hello, was wondering if I can use some of the video footage for piano music background. Credits will be given for the owner.
feel free to :)
@@NomadicWeekenders awesome . Thank you
How do you rent this cabin?! I’d love to go!
The cabins are so great! We used the Buffalo Outdoor Center's cabins here:

You failed to document the dangerous section of this hike, just didn't see it.
yep, you are right. We didn't clearly identify what makes this hike dangerous. Sorry bout that. If you look at 6:06 the trail is just 1 person wide with no railing looking over a few hundred feet drop down to the buffalo river.
Planning to go ..alone traveller...
You are going to crush this hike, Joseph! Good luck!!
Can you take dogs with you on this trail?
No you are not able to bring dogs and definitely would not recommend if you could.
A couple up on Big Bluff had a "protective" pitbullish type dog and I had to walk past it twice. I Had 3 feet of space between a growling dog and the ledge. They knew the dog was doing this to people and instead of moving to a safe spot they just kept telling the dog to stop it. Besides the level of danger they were causing others they were also ruining the experience for others. People drove and hiked a long way and they deserve the best possible experience they can get.
Well said! Not bringing dogs on this trail is best for everyone's safety!
