>"its about to go nuts"
>less than a hundredth of a cent
This is just a pump and dump scheme with extra steps and somehow less reliable and more risky LOL
I was about to say lol. I can't belive they thought showing that off in the ad was a good idea.
Nah it might be Eth or bitcoin, but even with bitcoin that amount on the counter is only worth 6 bucks, the increment in the ad only earns it hundredths of cents
the currency is actually just the fraction of the worth of the enitre world that you own
i think they just figured the snot brained cryptobros would see the amount of numbers, and not what the number actually meant, and would think "woag im making the moneys"
Vinny's commitment to this dumb bit was reaching Joel levels.
just missing audibly furious typing right before the bit

How hungry...
I just love the culture shock here. Both eras of a similar medium hitting each other like trains in the most ridiculous way. :p
Its what makes the internet such a beautiful thing
The shit they saw as cartoonish lunacy has just become reality.
Yeah, like "New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down" by LCD Soundsystem mashed up with Miles Davis soloes.
@@Wayte13 Nah there's been multiple times over the internet's evolution where someone invents virtual real estate, people buy it, and everyone mocks those people. I'm sure it happened a bunch in the wild west of the early internet, but I can specifically remember my dad telling me about it in like 2011, morons spending hundreds of thousands on a virtual apartment. Actually it was probably money laundering now that I think about it.
Either way it's a concept that's been mocked basically from the beginning of the internet
@@TheoHigginsthe Dot Com boom and bust
The real kicker here is that during the stream Vin would absolutely not stop playing that metaLuigi video, so it was wholly serendipitous that this character brings up virtual real estate.
I think the meme will become rare status in a month where he'll only play it with direct references.
@@crust9889 yes, tossed upon the pyre of discarded memes, not unlike Susurunsun, whose flame burned bright for a month or two and then vanished.
@@theemollusk I feel like every other week there's a new clown in town for the intro or outro
It's alarming how dated this is and yet how relevant it became. Thats some serious prescience
I think a big part of that prescience is common sense.
Like, who the hell wants to buy virtual real estate that doesn't do shit when the Sims series is 100 times better?
Unbridled consumerism has existed for a while now.
It's not more relevant now, it's as relevant then as it's today, which is more pathetic if you think about it.
Mainly because land is something that will always will hold its value, it's only obvious it will try to be translated to digital. Except your anyone can just create virtual spaces whenever.
I suggest you search the phrase "bullshit jobs" and see just how self-aware people have been about the "future" of tech for a long time now.
it's less that this was prescient and more that the current stuff with the Metaverse is more or less reheated old ideas back from the Dot-Com Boom
@@quasicroissant Tech bros gonna tech bro lol
It kills me how he's so excited about buying fake land and then he's so :| about getting paid for it.
Can't blame him since it's barely a fraction of a penny.
His income is going up, it's about to go nuts.
The advertisers want to get you excited about spending money, not receiving it
@@PURENT He can buy many nuts with his income
It's about the thrill of ownership. Being able to claim imaginary space that no one can physically touch which can go on for lightyears with the only limit being your imagination.... oh, and the Server space. The ability to spend thousands for a 0.00000000007% gain is just the endgame. The expected gain. The thrill was the purchase, the income going up, nutty as it is, was already accepted as simple fact. His allergies to virtual legumes sours the experience a tad.
@@TheEternalClown Explain how
This just has me thinking about how screwed up the whole idea of virtual housing is. Yeah, I'm totally gonna pay cash to sit in a house while I'm sitting in my house.
How the hell did these silicon valley bros ever convince themselves that this was gonna be a thing?
Plus the idea that digital data can have any sort of scarcity. It can just be easily copied and duplicated as many times as one needs, any scarcity is purely artificial.
Yeah, not like I convinced my mother to spend 40$ on a home skin in wizard101 when I was young.
I won't forget the time a beloved (elder) family member tried to get me get virtual land, no joke. He opened all convincing like, followed by "have you heard of Roblox?"
Especially since all the stuff they're trying to do like that had already been done better by a bunch of games like VRchat, usually for completely free. You can boot up Unity right now and make something better than the metaverse real estate yourself
@@goom4689 That's DIFFERENT
Crypto Luigi is like Alduin in The Elder Scrolls. The attempts to stop him in the past merely delayed his arrival
When misrule takes its place at the eight corners of the world
When the COVID-19 walks and the web is reshaped
When the thrice-blessed fail and the yellow dog manifests
When the Twitter Ruler loses his throne, and the Blue Checkmark falls
When the Bank lies sundered, cashless, bleeding
The Crypto-Luigi wakes, and the NFT turns upon the Last Vinesauce.
Only the cryptoborn can defeat him, using his power to screenshot NFTs.
Jokes aside, the lady’s character design is really good. Very creative use of 90’s limitations

Oh it's the virtual South Seas Trading Company, my old chum
My favorite part is how the ad was set up so that Crypto Luigi perfectly rises up to the window. Crypto Luigi Jumpscare.
That metaverse video is getting a lot of mileage from Vinny.
Chroma key bits are always good.
You know that ad hasn't left his mind since he first discovered it.
The things they saw as absurd impossibilities have become our reality
All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray
This is a joke from a 90's game that turned into reality 30 years later.
People laughed at that joke because the entire notion of "virtual real estate" is ridiculous, but now people actually think it's a good idea.
ikr lol
Time is a flat circle.

Same as it ever was
i love how the character mentions a tech guy who is trying to sell virtual real estate and immediately vinny's neurons are activated
You can hear his little "w" as the internal fans kick into overdrive
They tried to warn us about it, but we didn't listen. How naive of us to think it would never get this far.
Literally everything wrong about Social Media is stuff that scholars in the 90's were trying to warn us about so we could try to avoid it by preventing enclosure of the digital commons.
Kojima wasn't psychic, he just paid attention.
luigi you need to stop buying land in the metaverse, we can hardly pay our rent luigi

What I love most about this is how her movement syncs up perfectly when the ad starts.
Vinny's sheer excitement at the chance to do something stupid fills me with joy
Crypto Luigi couldn't be stopped then and he can't be stopped now
I really find it funny that Crypto Luigi is the latest Vinesauce meme character for Vinny.
Zoomer Luigi returns with more Alice Earth.
I've legit had that metaverse ad stuck in my head since that commercial chaos ep
Same, anytime I think of this I just burst out laughing
I just bought more land in the Metaverse!
I literally popped in the stream randomly when he was showing us the edit and immediately just turned my phone off and went to sleep, knowing my day has peaked and there was no getting better from that
That ad has been living rent free in my head since that commercial chaos segment
The amount of time it took him to set this up was enough for me to go from "this will not be worth it" to "it was absolutely worth it"
Bro was earning like 1/10th of cent in the ad ☠️
Watch my income go up it's about to go nuts
@@northuniverse now I'm getting paid rent in cash with atlas earth
Memes aside it's sad seeing the whimsy of 90s internet vs. the current shitshow
This isn't the only time something from the early days of the internet was accurate in what it predicted. Serial Experiments Lain started airing about the same time in Japan, and was scarily accurate about a lot of things, including what it was going to do to people's social lives.
Crypto Luigi is the third Vinesauce member
That pushy tech guy can be arrested for stalking this early 3d lady
Vinny pulls a Joel
The chat member who recommended changing the background to the ad deserves some credit. Best bit.
weird crypto luigi is why we need tomodachi life 2 like right now
No joke, Nintendo should put Tomodachi on the switch, if Miitopia was already good imagine that one
Hilariously, the crypto luigi is a real person and he basically actually looks like that with the creepy spindly waluigi mustache and everything
he probably put a filter on his own face to hide his true identity
I’m so glad to see Luigi on the set of space ghost coast to coast
The whole reason real land has value is because of location and limited supply, neither of which exist in the metaverse.
ITS ABOUT TO GO NUTS
And this is why i stay up past 11 knowing damn well i'm going to regret it when i need to get up to work in the morning
Crypto bro Luigi is both, a gift and a punishment

@@mechadeka did you read the word "next"
They’re warning about different types of AI though.
I just bought more neurons in the AI verse
To be fair, it's the difference between people being scammed by other people, and a thing happening that is only one of literally dozens that could happen.
The stupidity of mankind is exploitable to the point that a machine uprising doesn't need to happen, but also to the point people will buy literally anything. Like a bad crusty Jpeg for 10K USD.
Atlus Earth owes vinny some money right now
Never trust someone with a mustache like that, first rule of mustaches
Joel levels of irony
Crypto Luigi aside, it's amazing how our current dystopia is so textbook and on-the-nose that what was originally meant to be a dumb hamfisted joke in some 90's game is just part of reality now.
Only if you're dumb enough to fall for the scam
@@SuborbitalPigeon The "demographic" this ad is trying to appeal to is absolutely dumb enough to fall for the scam.
Obviously, John Titor left this message in the past as a warning.
First Vinny gets shocked by a multiple-games-in-one bootleg with an off-brand modified Nintendo character in it, then he takes 5 full minutes to very non-discreetly set up a joke involving an external video being overlaid onto the main feed. It really was a Joel stream
The most disturbing thing is that the mustache is clearly photoshopped in later. As in: the original 3D model did not have a mustache. Someone slapped it on in afterimages barely holding the correct position and thought this improves the look.
There's something about owning land in the metaverse that damages my windpipe.
Keep in mind, Second Life is from 2003. The Zuck has zero original ideas.
Evil cannot create. They can only imitate or destroy.
Crypto Weegee found her again, he's back to assault her with Atlas Earth
I love this stupid meme. Cryptobro Luigi is my new favorite ad now
thank you for this.

LUIGI NO
Vinny kept playing this video at random times
I will love all of you equally, and i will divide it into 7 equal sections or "love quadrants"
Oh god the flashbacks
The Devil can only enter your home if you let him in.
Crypto luigi has been building his power for decades
Virtual real estate wouldn't be such a bad idea if everyone understood it wasn't real and for fun, and made it like buying cosmetic features for games rather than any p2p aspect. But all the broke NFT BROHSS probably think that it's the next big thing so they'll of course ruin it for everyone.
I guarantee the way it works is you buy a 2d sprite of a land tile from opengameassets, some coordinates, and on top of that you buy a house sprite from kenneygameassets. That money is directly funneled and invested by stock market trading ai bots that give you back 0.2% of the money they make.
@@JacobKinsleyapparently a plot of "land" can be yours for the equivalent of $5. It would take 50 years to recoup that from the "money" they give you for "renting out" the land. That money comes from advertising and other mugs buying the land. As with most of these things, they're trying to suggest it'll become really popular so you could sell later for more than you paid.
In other words, there's one born every minute.
The core concept of "virtual housing" and spending actually hard earned cash in it is so beyond absurd.... That a part of me still believes it is just an ellaborate joke and that none of it has ever happened.
Wishful thinking, of course.
The idea would probably sound a little tiny bit less stupid if this wasn’t going on during a time of economic stress where a lot of people’s money is stretched thin.
The idea sounds more like something that would exist in a future where it’s a lot more simpler to spend cash on weird and pointless things without having to worry about it- but advertising this Atlas Earth shit right now is really dumb lmao
Absolutely insane
Vinny I just want to say I blame you for the fact that I'm legitimately getting ads for this shit now.

I love how he tries to mock the Crypto Luigi and instead ends up sounding like his “HIGHWAY TO HELL” voice with a lot less phlegm.
I JUST BOUGHT MORE LAND
Y'know how it can be surprising at how long it's been since something came out? Like, "Oh man! I can't believe that came out 8 years ago!" Crypto Luigi is the opposite. Completely baffled this was mere months ago.
I don't think it was worth it
