This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics bk 8 (and 9) discussions of the nature of friendship. Aristotle sets out a number of conditions essential to friendship in any full sense of the term, and we go through each of them, examining what these criteria are, how they function, and what examples of them might be.

thank you.Real friends find something in common (like phil) and attempt to teach them and challenge their understandings, both to teach and learn, to challenge and be challenged. I want my friends to be wise, active, fit, because that is what I want for myself. I have no right to legislate this for others, but this is what I would want to share and receive. I try to find the wisest people to learn from ( or who will put up with me!)

Excellent video. I'm currently reading some excerpts of philosophical texts from a set of books my dad gave me for my birthday. I'm currently reading an excerpt from Nicomachean Ethics and it's a very interesting read. These core concept videos will definitely help me in my studies of Aristotle. Thanks a lot.

This philosophy class is so dry and quiet lol, my classmates can barely shut up and put their hands up every second. We're always debating and discussing in class that we're actually a little behind on the syllabus. I'm not sure if my prof loves this or hates it.
