the secret for those who are just starting to play the guitar is not to give up, because at first it seems difficult, but with a lot of practice and dedication you will succeed
haha and they said I couldn't do it. Some of them even laughed. I'm practicing everyday now. Negativity made me do it. Thank you very much. Age ain't nothing but a number. :)
Damn I started 3 months ago and have learned so much and know 3 songs. It's crazy how many chords I've learned and how much I've learned in general about guitar. I remember the first day I started and wanted to give up. I'm so happy I didn't :)
I'm on day 1 right now, watched 2 other videos, 20 mins each and got so frustrated and wanted to give up so bad. This video is my last shot, hope it gets thru to me lol
At first i though to myself that this is a useless video, but after i followed it for a little while, it is actually extremely helpful! Thank you so much for this, it really helped me learn to love guitar and i'm quite good now after following this tutorial! I would recommend this to anyone who is first picking up a guitar like i was!
You're an amazing teacher, I wish I had a teacher like you when I started. I took classes at a studio, the teacher just teached chords, bard chords and F bar chords right way. Never teached any strums except for 1,2,3 UD. He had students who were taking class for 1 year and they didn't play not even one song. I felt discouraged and wanted to give up.
Hello there. I am an acoustic guitar player who has gigged solo. I am left handed by birth and take exception to the right hander's notion that learning to play right handed as a left hander is advantageous to people who know no playing techniques. I do play right handed because when I was presented with a guitar as a child it was done by right handed parents who also gave no consideration to where my language hemispher was located and how this plays into the attack hand being the writing hand of a person learning guitar. It is ALWAYS important to determine the handedness of a prospective young pupil of the guitar as they will conceptualize notation in the language center of the brain which governs both writing AND the string attack hand; not the fretting hand. It sets the pupil back if they have been already gifted with a wrong handed guitar and they naturally have inverted it so that the attack hand is over the sound hole as it should be.My learning of music notation was made difficult due to my first paid teacher encouraging me to play or attack the strings with the hand NOT associated with writing. The floor felt like the ceiling when i attempted it at first and my progress has thereafter been largely intuitive and by ear rather than in the conceptual and musical theory methodology. B.B. King was once asked why he chose the genre of the blues to be the focus of his musial interest. It may suprise you to hear his answer. He said he chose "the blues" because he could never sing and play the guitar at the same time. The Blues allowed him to sing inbetween musical passages and so he chose that as his genre to play. It is no longer a practice in the United States to punish children who begin learning to write with their left hand. It was discovered that to do so caused speech problems and stammering. So having said this i will audit your offering and i thank you for your efforts just same. Cla.
Great tutorial, picked up my first guitar yesterday and got your chords down without looking down in about 5 hrs, never thought I'd be able to do that, thank you!!
After this video of me picking up a guitar for the first time was pretty cool , I am a violin player and have been playing for about 4 years. I thought that going to another string instrument would be cool and I was right. I was able to hold the guitar right basically from the start because I'm so used to holding a violin. Thankyou so much
Thank you so much for making these two videos to learn guitar. I am greatly appreciative and you are a very good teacher. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn guitar because this guy makes it fun and takes his time to show you exactly how awesome learning is and I'm having a life changing experience after buying my first guitar and learning from these two videos instead of paying for lessons. Thank you so much man
Thank you for your time for the lessons. I do not have a guitar yet, so I've been strumming and praticing on my makeshift one for the time being until I could afford one. I've also been practicing my posture and hand position. You've encouraged me to learn and practice. It's my dream to play on a guitar.
Your too good brother ...today was my first day seeing this video and u wont believe it ...i have learned 4 to 5 songs ...just in 45 mins ...am so happy thank u so so much ...your way of teaching is really fantastic and so detailed... Thanks a ton 😊
This is the best video i found that teaches you how to play.... It gives you things to practice and how to start, and what to do in the beginning, I'm 30and have no time to go and get classes from someone, so this right here helps a lot for my guitar beginning.
I love the way our brain works , most Of the people spend their time reading comments or writing them, that's amazing, that means that the video is not that goo enough have our entire attention
Have had sort of a go at the guitar a few times, only to give up because I didn't like the feeling of the strings digging into my fingers while holding my hand in that angle. Have had this old guitar sitting there for a good while now, and as I am growing increasingly fond of the sound of blues/bluegrass/country/folk kind of thing, I finally said "okey, let's just learn this!" Got myself a set of new strings, replaced them all and tuned them as best I could by ear (and youtube), and have to say it does not actually sound that bad.. for a total beginner anyways, so sort of proud of that. Going to try and stick to this 20minutes minimum a day and see what happens.
you are an excellent teacher. I came across your videos by accident when looking for something else. thank you so much for all of your tips and instructions. I am a mature aged learner who started to play many years ago. I am picking up where I left off and am determined to achieve what I set out to do back in the 70's. I love my music and to be able to play music is excellent and good therapy. many thanks...Janet
I feel the pinky and ring an middle finger straight sounds better in a A also it leaves your index finger to hold on the top fret for a quick move to a Em or a Am or a C or F some songs can be played once you learn there two chords it’s my strumming I get wrong an end up jazzed up too much lol great teaching man peace an blessings to ya,
Very nice to have such a regimented, straight-forward, routine. I found a metronome online to use and glad I did, discovered that my timing was really erratic. Focused on making the strikes sound uniform, both up and down. Looking forward to the next several weeks!
In this times that we all are, i got my guitar out and decided to really give it a go. Best lesson ever, very well explained and yes with time and pratice it sounds really nice. Really happy with these lessons. Thank u so much.
thanks, i am a leftie and i can play well on my left hand, but i made many mistakes while i was learning and have developed some bad habits that i cant rid myself of. so i am switching hands and re-learning to to play right handed. it will also mean buying equipment will be much easier, i am finding your vids invaluable so thankyou
Good video. I always like to tell beginners to get their guitar set up with lighter gauge strings. Lighter gauge strings are easier to press and your fingers will hurt a lot less which can discourage many. Have a great day! #guitarlessons
I want to thank you. i think you are the best instructor thus far in guitar lessons . i am still new at it. i started practicing a year ago some basic chords trying to learn off of others from the internet and everyone seems to be so complicated instructing to fast and cant keep up or its to difficult to follow at all so i never learned how to strum with the chords..your method has been the best and im finally excited to learn and finally learning something. I thank God for leading me to this ...
To the beginners out there. You don't need a amp to learn an a electric guitar. It still makes sound without a amplifier. Some of you may prefer to learn on a electric because it is quieter.
This is th first tym I started watching ur guitar lessons, though I've also started learning but I find ur teaching guitar, step by step is sooooooooooo easy to pick up nd understand, I will follow ur tips nd guidance! Thank u, Roby!

The tutorial is very accommodating and effective! So much thanks to the instructor. You are a very good mentor. Thanks again I think I can play my guitar now.
