Without a doubt, throughout your guitar career, this is the single most important piece of the puzzle and will make all the difference. Alongside that, a solid structure and focus in your daily practice is the next most important aspect to your improvement, and when you combine the two... I just went to buy a guitar, and started learning with this guy, I've learnt so much already!!!
I am 68 years old and have been a drummer for about 60 of them. Now, I want to learn guitar! (yeh I know all about the old-dogs-new-tricks hypothesis - but I am determined!). Looked at a lot of CZcams teaching sites, but yours seems the most compelling and professional. Looking forward to this 30 day adventure to see just where it takes me!

I'm 60 years old with cero knowledge of music I'm just trying to learn because hoping after retirement have something to do
60 years old here yet I'm still learning new things to make us feel young hahaha. I guess when you are interested to learn disregard that adage old dog. We can learn new tricks why not in fact in 2 weeks of learning by God's grace I can play more than 30 songs the challenge is managing fingers or shifting keys but as I said you can and we can. I've been playing guitar for 10 years and like to go back to the basics every so often. Even if it's stuff I know sometimes it's nice to just reiterate, reaffirm, practice, and try new things. You hold the pick differently than I do. I hold it the same way but a smidge further up my index when my thumb then has a strong pinch on the pick at a right angle. The way you hold the pick is looser and flatter and feels a little odd to me but I've noticed it's much better for faster picking. And the way I typically hold the pick is better for really strong attacks. I honestly love finding these minute things that people might take for granted or don't realize. They make us all better players. Thanks!
Starting this challenge today as someone who has messed around with the guitar without any proper basics. So far your explanations are very clear, and I've had my strumming arm all wrong! See you in the next one :D

Yes itâs teaching to give critical feedback to a Free lesson. But I support continuous improvement so Iâm giving feedback. 21 minutes was a bit long for the four or five things taught. There was too much repetition. Thatâs not just boring but wasting time.
This is an amazing opportunity you gave us! I've already learned chords with CZcams but will do the whole journey again with you. Thank you for being so thorough and patient!

I used to play when I was younger. Then I had a couple wrist injuries and it became hard to play. My guitar was sad in my attic so I decided to try relearning it. Thank you for this lesson! I understood everything perfectly.
This is my first time picking up a guitar my first lesson. I have to say while the first video is as basic as it gets for your first day itâs also so important for me. Albeit a simple exercise, itâs not at all overwhelming and much needed exercise. I look so forward to all 30 lessons.
I have tried about 4 other beginners lessons on yt and they just left me frustrated and unmotivated this is the first lesson where I actually feel like moving onto the next, thank you so much.

I have viewed a number of videos on CZcams, however your channel is the only one I can follow with ease.. I have treated myself to a new guitar for Christmas, and have never in 50 odd years have I even picked up a musical instrument. Within a day, I am already seeing progress.. Thank you.. I will be following your guide for the full 30 days, and know doubt have it on repeat until I can play freely..
At 47yrs Iâve got my first Les Paul Standard guitar. I think everyone at my age listening to The Who, Led Zep, Oasis etc..regrets not learning earlier. Iâm starting this course from from a complete beginners perspective. Can I say compliment you on the quality of the video. Nothing in the background to cause distraction. Very clear instructions in â Layman termsâ and the best thing of all is starting from first sitting /holding the guitar without making us feel stupid. Other tutorials I checked do this in a tone / manner making us feel like idiots. I sincerely thank your team for getting me on the path to playing guitar as of today đđŒâïž

I love it when you describe how it feels for us when its our first time holding the guitar and the physicality of the finger placements. If you didn't mention that I would have gone thinking welp maybe guitar is not for me because it stresses my hands a lot. But since you told me its normal then I felt more at peace. It's little things like this that I appreciate the most because you're not just teaching us by the book lessons but you make it feel like you're a friend teaching us how to play the guitar.
Also, hooray for my first day. I hope I can survive till the 30th. I will survive.
hey Dan I'm a fan of your work recently i finished the major caged i'm still working on it anyway i'm learning guitar online and i can't find somethings so these things are jazz guitar essentials,R&B guitar essentials and chord extensions i think if you guys can make some video series about these it would be great for me and other online guitar learners thanks

"Removing bad habits"! I see you've been around for at least a year, but I'm just now discovering you. How does that happen? Well, no matter. I've been picking around with my guitar for several years and getting more serious about wanting to learn for about 2 years now. Mostly on my own (with the help of youtube tutorials), but I have recently (in the past couple of months) began taking lessons from a live instructor. He's taught me a lot and corrects my bad habits as they expose themselves, but I have thought several times that I need to just start at block one and "unlearn" while "really learning". So, I'm glad I found you! My instructor is awesome, but I intend to follow your beginner course and learn a lot of the basics I've obviously missed. Thanks for offering this course!! I've learned a lot already!

This is good, so many other "beginner" videos talking about "hitting the root on the fifth in the key of B focusing on the triad natural pinch harmonic tuned down 1 and a half steps during the EL84 biasing setup with a compound radius fret buzz on the twelfth" get those simple things down and you'll be good for your second beginner lesson. đ Many of these videos forget that beginner means starting out. This one is excellent!

I've been playing clarinet for 10 years, and while I have a lot of fun with it, I can't really easily play any of the music I love (mostly rock). When I was cleaning my closet I found an old electric guitar, and the case it was in had a pick. I don't even have an amp yet, but I'm excited to get startedđ
