What really gets me is that the director and the actor BOTH didn't want Chris Pratt in that role. Yet somehow she convinced them both, amazing

No joke. She's the Casting Director of almost every big movie I've seen. She seems to have a real talent for.. Seeing talent and matching it to the material.
She doesnt get nearly as much credit as she ought to. a HUGE part of why Marvel works as good as it does, is the Cast. I often think about it. I actually thought that she may even really stalk them to know their personalities and to see if they can have chemistry with the rest of the cast. For me, She and Kevin is why MCU works so well.
Who's responsible for Brie Larson?
Hearing how Pratt didn't want to audition because he had gained weight and didn't see himself as a leading man is a little heartbreaking and a good reminder that what's inside is so much more important. Good thing Sarah saw right through that or we wouldn't have such a perfect Peter Quill :)

@@tupac-man8120 script was shit tbh,the edit and reshoots are what made the movie even worse cause its so obvious its reshoots n the actors arent in the same room most of the time and it as rushed. Maybe she will get the Thor treatment but one movie earlier i hope lol. It seemed they had a more oppressive storyline with danvers growing up and with pretty boy star lord, but somehow they only used that bit in the last bit when she is standing up not to the SI, which is so dumb. She was weirdly written in Endgame as well. Shes a good actress but needs to be used effectively. Directors are there to make sure evrything is done correctly, if they tell her good job and never direct or help add, its their fault. Good cast, bad writing and redirecting, marvel tried their best with reshoots but didnt work.
@Moist Gnome captain marvel was pretty dry. i did not like it and i am not a big fan of what they are doing with the character, but brie larson is an absolutely phenomenal actress. one of the best, if not the best, working today.

I had never heard of Sarah Finn before...just read up on her a little after seeing this video. Wow, she has had a huge impact on the entire MCU and done a phenomenal job of casting...she's the unsung hero of the MCU.
It's amazing how the most iconic actors we've gotten for characters in the MCU were ones that were the least likely or dismissed at first.
@Azedenkae Echevien True, I didn't know many of the actors prior to the MCU aside from Chris Pratt and Scarlett Johansson, but many of these lesser known actors rose to fame thanks to the roles they auditioned for.
I can't believe that they initially crossed off Chris Evans for Cap! He and Downey are the two most perfect casting decisions imaginable.

Chris Evans is more of a Star-Lord type. He was never really right for Cap outside of appearance. Look at his other roles before the MCU.

The day Sarah Finn and Kevin Feige stop being a casting director and producer for the MCU, is the day the MCU will come falling apart.
Her casting and his vision are perfect for the MCU. Can't think of 1 bad casting.

Doing a Casting Director's job well, is an extremely difficult endeavor. The MCU has been blessed to have Sarah Finn's eye for talent in their arsenal. With few exceptions, she has obliterated expectation and created a generation of household, a-list, superstars.
This story would have been far more hilarious if Chris Pratt auditioned for the role of Thor, then their animosity on screen would be pretty meta.

Sarah Finn is an absolute Marvel and deserves the world's recognition, as much as anyone else for keeping the MCU as a gold standard for great storytelling.
It's good to know there are professionals out there like Sarah Finn actively watching and looking for acting talent. I'm not an actor nor do I want to be, but it seems to me that acting in as many roles as possible so that casting directors have a better chance of seeing your work is key. It's really weird to think there is this mysterious cabal silently working in the shadows, watching and tracking actors.
Kevin Feige pushes but he also allows directors and the writers to have creativity. He's like a coach that can make the decision while also giving trust to his players

Gotta admit, Chris Pratt was perfect for the part. Everybody was perfect, actually. Dave Bautista as Drax, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel saying the same line, over and over in different ways.
We say it's the perfect role and we can't imagine anybody else playing them, but in an alternate universe, we'd say the same thing for other actors being Star Lord. It's because we get used to it.

I'd say it is perfect for the MCU, but i wouldn't call it a perfect cast if it didn't really resemble the character it was suppose to adapt.

I would never be able to stand anybody else as Starlord, I have admired all MCU superheroes, loved a lot of them as well but boy never in my life had i fallen IN love with a character as much as I have fallen for Chris Pratt's Starlord. From his very first scene as Starlord, even through the time he f*cked up pretty bad in infinity wars and everyone hated him to the time i cried out loud in the movie theater as I saw his silhouette come out of the portal in Endgame, I have never admired anyone this much. Idk maybe it's the goofball that he is or maybe because he does these crazy shenanigans while saving the Galaxy multiple times and yet is so flawed and so human. I connect to the honesty of his character at an insane level.
Felt like I was holding my breath while I penned down a crazy ass love letter to starlord at a random comments section at midnight.

Don't think they said that. Chris Evans was crossed off early as Cap, but they decided to take a second look when they couldn't find anyone else.

@@SirJamesthePaul I have a feeling the MCU will do something totally different with the Fantastic Four. Wouldn't be surprised if Reed Richards was way younger or an elderly man or maybe even a different race. Look at Hank Pym for example. They went for older Hank and younger Scott. Everyone thought it would be Hank Pym as the main Ant-Man in the MCU. Also look at Wasp, it's Hope instead of Janet. Also look how they did Cap's ''hail hydra'' in the MCU. Also look how they did the Infinity War saga in the movies, totally different from the comics. Ultron was also different. Vision was different. A lot of MCU things are different but they still honor the source material.
Also Hiddleson Auditioned for Thor and got Loki.

Casting in all the MCU movies has been pretty much perfect. There may have been other actors who could have been great, though maybe different, in these roles but pretty much everyone they cast did a fantastic job. I'm struggling to think of a single case where the actor isn't perfect.
From now on whenever I talk about why I love the MCU, I will list Sarah Finn as a reason. Thanks for this clip.

I hope Sara Finn is training future casting directors and actors. You need to find that "it" factor. Sara Finn knows and can find the "it" factor on every actor for the right part.
they initially passed on Chris Hemsworth for Thor and Chris Evans for Captain America. Never give up, right?
First time I heard that they actually initially dusted Chris from the Cap role.

Evans has talked before about how he turned them down twice before finally saying yes, so it was mutual!
I heard that one of the reasons they said no at first, was his previous role as the human torch. They thought the same actor playing 2 major character roles wouldn't work, but obviously they were wrong.
Must suck being one of the other actors that auditioned and just hearing these people talk about how much better Pratt was than you lmao
Imagine how many actors would’ve been perfect for a role, but got blocked from making it in because of stubborn people on the team and crew. Luckily this didn’t pan out like that, but I’m sure there are movies that could’ve been brought to whole new levels just by switching out an actor.

They never officially fired him actually. Even in AIW credits you still can find his name.
@@harmane.c.4033 Yes he was. They did fire him but IW/Endgame were done filming by January 2018 and he was fired a few months later. Even if he was never rehired he would still be in the credits of both movies because it's very unlikely you would be removed from a movie that is already finished. Especially an executive producer. He wasn't fired until July 2018, so there's no reason he wouldn't be credited for a job that is already finished. Even if he did something illegal it would be incredibly difficult to have an EP credit removed, especially if you already EP'd a movie that's already been released by the time they fire you.

Although I didn't hate the Captain Marvel movie, I kept thinking of other actresses I would have preferred in the role (Katheryn Winnik, Charlise Theron). For all the other characters once I had seen them in the role I could not see someone else in it.
