My uncle used to make me listen this song, with other country songs, when I was like 5 yo in the ‘80s. Loved it but I lost any memory about it. Then Yellowstone season 5 happened. My brain opened that drawer and blocked me with a shocked smile on my face. So happy to remember again.
I've loved her version of this song for 55 years. This sounds like the original recording that was electronically enhanced for clarity instead of a remake.

God bless Dolly! She's a gift from God Himself. Voice of gold. Heart as big as the moon. She was 17 when I was born, and my dad (probably lots of dads) was madly in love with her. It pissed my mother off something fierce. lol 😂 She's still going strong because she's a genuine talent!! 💜

There is NO country music anymore,it's southern rock pop. This is country! I am a metal guy myself ,but i was raised on country, and always wanted to play it. Maybe I'll do some country songs ,but I should just start at the beginning, and work from there! This reminds me of driving back to West Virginia from California when i was about 7 . My dad had a 69 AMC AMX with a big 390 ci motor that got us from west coast to east in 2 and a half days ,he was going over 100 most of the time! Back then ,18 wheelers were going at least that fast, you could see fire coming out of the top of the stacks! Those were the good old days, when we didn't have an idiot in charge and the prices of everything going up for no reason ! Oh,to ho back ,just a few years . Oh well, that's why there is music!

This was my uncle Jim's favorite song by his favorite singer. Ironically it was originally done by Jimmie Rogers, whom he was named after. Rip Uncle Jim , Father's Day, 1983. 😥
This Dolly record made a fan out of me in the early 1970's. I'd been hearing her on country radio, but it took a few years for me to get used to her unusual voice. But this amazing performance converted me and I'm still her fan for life. What a voice she has!
