Man I love you guys. No hype - no sub par SEMA build rush - just some cool dudes playing with cars. No ego. Love it
And some awesome story telling, filming and editing skills!!!
Underrated channel IMO. One of my top 5 for sure.
Thanks for the shoutout homie! Now all your civic needs is an extra pair of doors!
I absolutely love all the quality content,it's diverse! G&G is constantly killin it!
well I'm guessing they had to do some hard pivots after the flood! ♥
The last two episodes were blah, at best. Let's be honest. They were sub par compared to last years race episodes
@@_whyte.woods_1256 hmm idk I actually liked the last two episodes. definitely different wheel to wheel versus time attack, but i've enjoyed the new content...
Hello again, people of culture. Hope you are having a great day!
Like wise good day
Making some extra money doing flooring and watching this next to my stuff haha
Nice pfp
It’s a even better day gears and Gasoline posted
Greetings! I hope you have a great day as well!
Dont forget to carry a spray bottle to defog the windshield. You need heat shields. Thats less than 1lbs and will save the axle and everything else. You can use the heat shield to duct air into the disc. Just a thought, if you run brake cooling you maybe able to get away with a smaller rotor. Most racecars everything is just big enough to get the job done, even brakes. Hope you get that top 10🎉
Hasport shows how you should run a business. If someone breaks something, you fix the part, rather than just replacing it. Every failure is a learning experience and a development opportunity.
I love your channel so much. Following the development of the cars, the focus on actual track driving and improvements, how personable and entertaining everyone is, little to no trite "youtube-ism's" or vlog style false hype. Just an absolute pleasure to watch everything you release.
They've toned down pushing their sponsors a bit, which is also helping.
Watching the adjustments and fine tuning here has got me wanting to do a track day build so bad. Tinkering and messing with settings trying to find the ever-elusive perfect set up.
My brothers got a BMW 135i and I've been trying to get the "you were a great big brother" and here's a free car 😆 deal to start my project. That day hasn't come yet..... Guess I thought I was a better brother than I was.
Keep up the great work, the Laguna round of GLTC was to say the least a very emotional weekend. Looking forward to the video and everything to follow. You've got a fan for life here (both Ben's btw).
Luke, Andy, Coby and now Mark are hidden gems of G&G
So glad you got the axle issue fixed. VTEC Academy has an awesome axle length test they use to ensure proper length on swapped cars.
With the wheel on, jack the control arm up so the axle is level with the ground. Remove the axle nut, push the axle to full compressed. Use digital caliper to measure exle protrusion or resess.
As long as the axle is 1/4" recessed or protruded, you are within perfect spec.
Happy to see Mark getting more and more comfortable in front of the camera.
Buy or make some front undertray diffusors to get more air directed on the front hubs/CV joints to get temps down, and more downforce as a bonus. Keep improving! hopefully the car won't fog up the wind screen when it rains :)
Looks like the civic is dialed in for top 10 at Laguna, good luck Ben! 🔰🏁
Sir you are correct he was winning being first all day then on the last lap of the day he broke his gear or something on the trans still brought it in but car was hurt in waiting for the episode. losing the race 😢I was there in the stands at laguna
@@josef6658 😳Oh man what a bummer! I guess we'll be seeing that episode soon 😩
Don't forget about your wheel bearings. If you are overheating your axle grease you are also overheating the stock wheel bearing grease. They last longer but it's only a matter of time. Any play in your wheel bearing can cause unwanted rotor to pad contact on the straights and more heat. I use Koyo. or Sfk bearings and repack them with Neosynthetic 800 degree grease.
I have been down this road many times breaking axles for years, but finally have been pretty reliable on a 500hp ef civic track car.
1. I use new aftermarket replacement axles, then Redline CV2 high temp grease and vent the outer joints. Stock grease in any axle is the main weak link (similar what you've done here)
2. Two piece front rotors reduce heat transfer from the rotor to the hub (You have these)
3. Raise the front of the car to improve the axle angle. I was frequently breaking axles in 5 gear under heavy engine and aero load after a couple hot laps. Stiffer springs also help here to keep the front from dropping so bad under aero load.
3. Ducting... The Honed Developments air guides work great at pointing air to your rotor, but also the whole knuckle and hub assembly. (if you're still breaking axles look into these) I also run these on a stock brake S2000 at COTA without any fade issues on 90+ degree days.
4. Repack wheel bearings with high temp grease. I use Neo Synthetic 800hp. If your wheel bearings have play you'll be dragging rotors on the straights and not dissipating heat.
I look forward to these videos every Saturday, can't wait to see you in Laguna!!!!! ❤❤❤
So cool that a fwd can hold it's own in a wheel to wheel race. Really cool since there are other cars that are the best choices yet some try out different chassis to experiment. Very awesome stuff!
Dang, that stool-seat seems a little high for the pedals. Shifters seems about right tho
Watching you pull weight out of the Civic took me back to when you first got the Civic and turned it into a Type R clone. Crazy to see the transformation it's gone through over the last several years. Can't wait to see it out on the track doing some more wheel-to-wheel racing!
Realtime racing learned this. With a front undertray the axles didn’t get enough air flow.
Just add some ducting to the boot area. They had the little ducting made into the undertray.
I’m sure there is some images still online. The realtime integras.
Love the Nitty-Gritty refinements. It's beautiful to watch!
I think Redline CV2 would be the best choice for axles. Not only is it CV rated, but it's normal operating temp goes up to 500°F. And if I remember right it can operate at peak temps of 800°F. I use it in everything. It uses a calcium sulfonate thinkener and doesn't seperate like greases using a lithium thickener.
I've broken half-shafts too... but on an STI while launching. It was caused by wheel hop... a combination of a worn diff and worn coilovers. If the diff checks out it might be worthwhile to point a camera at the wheel and see what's it's doing during a track session.
Love to hear about all the great things going on with the civic. Seems like a lot of fun!!
Nice with testing. Correct axle length is essential, needs to be mesured by removing the spring and the axle nut at the hub, then using a jack to put the suspension at different heights and cycle through the steering angles. Good quality grease is essential. Standard grease decomposes and will stop to lubricate properly.
We've broken insane 500 axles on the street on r888s due to the rear of the engine sagging. It sagged due to a twisted rear subframe though. Once we got that squared away and added a front mid plate, its never broken an axle. We even launched it on slicks.
Ps, it was a stock k20 with a m factory. And the axles were 36mm
The finding of the key was hilarious lol reminded me of when I lost my good flashlight and blamed my 5 year for hiding it somewhere...found it a year later in the attic 😅
Love the track series & builds! Can’t wait for the next!
Always an inspiration, guys!!! Keep up the great content!!!
Pumped for laguna seca! cant wait to see how things go. keep up the hard work guys!
Keep pushing! Love watching the progression and wishing you the best at the next round 👍🏻
Watching footage of some of the front runners in this race series really shows how hungry the drivers are for podium. More exciting to watch than professional racing series in many ways.
Mark is the Guido of G&G.
“Pit stop😎”
Loving this channel more and more
Loved the video! I really enjoy the racecar content. And the quality is top notch as always 👍🏼
It was great seen you guys at laguna and can't wait for an update from your point of view and all the details.
Overall what an amazing event and performance from you guys 👏
I really do enjoy watching you guys. You do it right and when it's not, you fix it till it is. I know it's already done, but good luck at leguna (my fav track)
So glad to see you racing bro!! U deserve it!!
So happy for you! 💪🏽
Not a race car guy here, I’m more street performance, daily driver with a bit off oomf when I need it, saying that, iv been a subscriber of GaG for a few years now and I must say, Ben and Ben have made it interesting, it seams much more attainable to the average person (don’t want to take away the time, effort, blood and sweat of what you guys have achieved but you get where I’m coming from) Keep up the good work dudes, much love from Newcastle, North East of England
Can't wait for Laguna. The hype is REAL!
Excellent music choices as always. 👌
Might be a good idea to prep the cages on the outer CVs if you’re pushing them this hard. This will help prevent binding with bearings as they heat up and expand. Also use some redline grease as others have mentioned. Good luck at Laguna
Absolutely love your videos. Desperately need a new roadtrip series
Nice video :) just wondering why you are not cutting in the front bumper to add air ducts to the front brakes. The front brakes, tires and axles would benefit from more controlled temperatures, hence making the car more consistent as you go through laps in races. This also means that you can push the car more since the temps are more controlled
Been watching from the beginning you guys have grown keep it up bro
i love that civic man , its so good. Been watching the progress since you got it
Good luck out here, dude!
Great stuff guys
I’m very much looking forward to Laguna!
12:54 That does not sound dumb. Quite the opposite in fact.
There is a reason for Colin Chapman having required the shift knob in every Lotus to not be more than a set distance away from the steering wheel (I think it was the length of a hand, but I am not sure).
The same reason for the shifter in the Porsche Carrera GT being really far up the center console.
Hope you the best and good luck !❤
Hope you get a podium at Laguna Seca this year, Ben. I miss seeing you win races all the time, but I know the competition in your current class is kinda insane with 40 cars in it. Anyway, Good luck man!
Awesome content !
Front splitter generally increases overall downforce, not just front.
Love the pacing on these videos!
Thanks for showing us week after week that racing is and forever will be a pipe dream for the average person! Love the content!
I absolutely love these racing videos and that civic!
Can't wait for Laguna seca vid!
exciting stuff for the civic.
Great episode.
great work!
Nice work. 😎
If you have heatshield behind the brakediscs you will reduce wear and overheat on driveshaft and balljoints. 👌🏼
can't wait your next video
Love that we can see the ZX2 in the background, hope it'll be back in the channel soon, maybe as a competition against Lin's Evo
great episode guys
The series I race in announced a TBA Laguna Seca event and I’m so excited. Take good notes for me Ben!! Have fun!
Redline CV2 and Axle play check with the nut removed on the bump/droop height when the axles are most horizontal position 👌🏻 good video again 👌🏻
I have been running that acuity shifter in my L15B7 swapped EK hatch, and what a difference it makes!!
So hype for Leguna Seca!
Awesome! The best car channel
I love my Saturday mornings
Still so happy you’re here with us Ben, I wish you the best of health.
Still my favorite channel!
I need to start all my SCCA licensings process so i can drive wheel to wheel
You guys killed it at Laguna seca holding that 1st position for so long until the last lap 😢
I have that shifter setup in my 18 civic SI since I bought the car. It's really good.
Awesome!
I love gear And gasoline. I haven't missed a video in years I think.
Instead of moving the shifter which is good you should rather get the wheel closer to your arms - once again this will be a big improvement for your drving. Maybe but put and adapter to the wheel base to reach approx 80-90° angle in your arms when you hold the steering by 9 and 3 o clock
Love the content
1.1 million views in 5 hours. So glad to see you guys grow so much in these years and looking forward for Mazda Laguna seca.

@@trashbandit2449 oh my bad 😂
@@TinoushGTR I was going to say that's crazy I didn't think they were on that level yet haha
@@trashbandit2449 i hope one day :)
Love the weight redux montage
Finally! My weekend just turned better ;)
The civic is becoming such a proper race car. Can't wait to see what it does in the actual race 👍
Love it!
Cant believe this content is free and full of knowledge
I noticed that youre doing all the work on the 4 post lift. How do you like it overall? The fact that you were able to drop the engine with it was dope!
Ya i had an ek hatch and to make it lighter i got an eg hatch instead which also fixed the huge rust problem as a bonus
Thanks
Very Cool Video! Always do test days before races ;-)
hope next race goes well and MIA gets that top 10
Let's gooooooooo Ben! And Mark.
Is it logical to adjust the car's weight based on the racetrack's characteristics?
If you keep the power-to-weight ratio consistent and add weight for high-speed tracks where top speed matters more, you'll gain more power, leading to a higher top speed because it's constrained by aerodynamic drag.
Conversely, on a slower track, you can reduce the weight to improve handling without sacrificing high-speed performance significantly.
Great stuff😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Anytime I see the ford peeking from the corners of the videos it puts a smile on my face
Every weekend i am just looking forward to G&G!
It’s curbs that are doing it. It’s common on all cars that run on the curbs at track. (Kerbs for Americans)
I like the dampening for that rear suspension when it hit the dip. Chassis flex should be a consideration with those heavy duty components....braces to re-enforce floor might help...
Love that Milwaukee socket set, I've got one myself also hi mark! We often pass each other. -guy in that Z3 with the ECSTuning banner.
great video :)
This is the best Civic in the world 😊 I love this project ❤
Thumbnail kills! Mark bottle feeding the shock 🤣🤣 Good luck at Laguna Seca
