I marched for Muhlenberg North High School the year Lafayette did this show. We almost beat them at Murray, placed Thurd behind them and John Overton at MTSU Contest of Champions (this video), and really should've won the Class 3A State Championship that year. Lafayette was an amazing band and this was one of finest shows ever!! Everything was so clean and so perfect it seemed! Great work!
I love how good the color guard is. I wish we could use more props like umbrellas and picture frames. Shows like this really show the artistic side of Lafayette.
Im not honestly an Oz Wiz fan, now Superstar is a differnt story, and they were so tiny that year, but so good. If i do eventualy post another vido, it will either be Ballet Russes, Bring on the Night, or Ancient Storms, just to show some newwer show.
@pickflowers1 The 1981 Meade County High School marching band did "Pictures at an Exhibition" for their opener. They crushed the competition that year. Outsized, but not outplayed or outclassed. This was EPIC FAIL compared to them, and they did it more than a decade ago! Nice try though.
Hey Pickflowers1, I respectfully disagree with you. Meade Co. played and marched beautifully that year, but I don't think you can compare the 2. This arrangement that Lafayette did was MUCH more difficult and more authentic to the original "Pictures". Meade Co. did a much more watered-down version. I know this, because my h.s. band played that same arrangement of "Pictures" that same year.
Gorgeous!
Love this 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🔥

The opening drill sequence would be very impressive to this day.
