This week I talk about one of the differences between landscape photography and street photography (sometimes), and what it has taught me about the value of photos. I also fail at an old location again...

DJI Pocket is great. Personally, I would only use it for handheld videos and a tripod for videos with the big camera. The downside is only one card slot, so no real-time backup. The image is good enough in good lighting.

Street photography, like you said, is so much more than the 'in your face' style. Lights, shapes, colour, subjects etc. and you can go about it in a similar way to you do now: finding a location and keep returning in different conditions, or perhaps more random (not to undermine the alternative in any way). I'm a street photographer, but love your travel/landscape stuff (and your personality), so would definitely welcome so more street style videos in the future. Plus, it can be so lightweight: one camera, one lens, no tripod!

As you said, not quite as good sound, not quite as good image, but the stability kills the competition. "You probably not noticed", oh, definitely. I will take the stable shot over the slightly degraded quality, because unless you had pointed it out, I would probably never have noticed or thought about it. You can, however, attach a lav mike using the wireless microphone thingamajig for the Pocket 2, which would at least improve that bit.
    But yes, stability.

Just recently started following the photography community on Twitter. Can’t believe how sick I am of looking at amazing photos of mountains and lakes, Northern lights and mountains and lakes, snowy mountains and lakes. I just feel spammed every time I open my feed. Nice to be able to get to these places and take pictures. But I’m disabled and can barely walk. If I can park somewhere and find a shot within 20 meters of the car, I’m happy. But right now, I can’t look at another landscape. Love your work.

Heads up! I had a "Lexar Professional" gold-label 1000x 128 GB card UHS-II card that cracked when I was unloading it from my Canon 6D. UHS-II SD cards are quite thin on the pin end and one of the corners of the pin end is where it cracked. Even though the pins are all intact, I stopped using the card immediately. When I contacted Lexar about the warranty and described the issue, they informed me that they do not cover "physical damage" to their cards. I was somewhat astonished as it was an expensive card (at the time), I had only used the card a few times, and I had not done anything at all to abuse the card -- I simply had been inserting in into my camera and my card reader, as I have been doing with every card I had ever owned since the early 2000s. I was an all-Lexar man up to that point, but that changed my mind about them. I still have the card, all shiny and new looking, with that cracked corner fin, and keep it as a reminder that Lexar disappointingly does not necessarily stand behind their card warranties.

What I would do with a blank sky like that is to add a vignette to the sky to help add some depth and guide the viewer's eye. Or replace the sky with one from my own collection, but that only works well sometimes and not everybody is ok with doing so.

Defo DGI, far less jittery and sound was fine too.

Your DJI is better. Really interested to see your take on Street photography Getting out to landscapes is harder for me now so spending more time on the street.

I agree with your thoughts on how the audience perceive any given photo. The overwhelming majority of people won't give a damn if you woke up at 4AM and waited 2 hours for the sunrise or for the fog to appear or even if you scouted that location some months prior. They want to feel something when watching the photo, how you get there is irrelevant.

I greatly enjoy your videos. I too am inclined to take shots of structures and how the light plays upon them coupled with different compositions, whether it is a landscape photo or a street photo. Your sense of humor is a precious bonus for all of us that follow your videos. Just yesterday I watched another photographer mention Vero as an alternative to Instagram. Maybe after you have tried it out for awhile you could give us a review. Hang in there. Fall will be here soon.

The DJI is better for stabilised shots, easier too watch. And the picture quality is hard to really notice when watching CZcams on the phone to be honest. I prefer the DJI 👍
