  • Iran and six world powers just cut a historical deal that would limit the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief. The details of the of the 159-page report are terribly technical. But there are some important aspect of this deal that we've distilled into this 3-minute video.

Now you can clearly see why the U.S. runs on a 2 party system. Nuclear Proliferation, there's your answer. The RnD to go from a Fission Power Plant to a Fission Bomb can only take about as long as 20 years. More recent nuclear power plants either use different radioactive material or a safer system that makes it considerably more difficult to go from cleaner, cheaper, energy, to a weapon of mass destruction. Hell, North Korea figured it out by themselves, a country that's a huge part of the international economy, even easier.

Why do so many Americans need to be told what to think? You should never have a "number one" news source, instead you should be educating yourself on the pros and cons of any story before forming an opinion. This video doesn't go into depth on anything.. what are these inspections, where and how are they performed? How often? When you start looking at these actual details you might begin to think differently about this deal, or you might not, but atleast you'll be thinking for yourself. You will never get that by listening to news media because they don't exist to inform you, they exist to make money and they do that by appealing to the LCD with pretty pictures and cartoon music and spoonfeeding simplicity that doesn't require any thinking on your part.

Mustafa Iraq My apologies for my racist outburst earlier - it's just that it frustrates me when I witness the world's undying bigotry towards my people. There is no such thing as a "Zionist," Zionism is a nationalist ideology in which Jewish people get an established country since we've always been mistreated under the rule of a leader who's of a different religion. It's no different than any other sort of nationalism, I'm sure if you ask a Kurdish nationalist and a Jewish nationalist their opinions about their people they will tell you the same things - they've been mistreated and they must be independent. And also, it's human nature to be "materialistic" if you live in the modern world, it's the values most people are raised with nowadays since there's such an abundance of resources for the world to share, so your point doesn't really make much sense since almost any political or social movement will have materialistic people.

Ofcourse sanctions can work, it depends what you mean with "work". Just like embargoes usually do work.
A modern society is especially vulnerable to such measures . There are many historic examples of this.
Iran is a powerful country with a lot of potential and smart people, I am sure they can live quite happily without some bomb that is quite useless anyways. A nuclear weapon is of no use whatsoever if you think about the lives of ordinary people. It is a weapon for deterrence, and Iran has proven to be quite capable of deterring and defending its territorial integrity without any nuke.
That is why they chose to go for this deal.

thats debateable, because the big bullies fucked it up more than the 33 official times (broken arrow) while they were trying to ''handle'' their toys. its only NOW that they have enough experience (thats also debatable cause they dont fully understand those toys as much as they want to believe) to handle the toys with wisdom.
the weaker kids in the playground are only trying to ''survive the day'' and have some fun without someone taunting them, beating them up, controling them ALL the time. the weaker kids can now have the established knowledge of what NOT to do wrong in order to handle their toys with safety. They can also have the high tech equipment to do that even more efficiently.
Moreover handling and using a toy is so much different. A weaker kid can have the same toy as the big bully has in order to protect himself. its a ''war of impressions''. they are only trying to make it clear : ''leave us alone or you know what happens''.

PixyDst500 Iran has not been given any money, what they have received is money that used to be theirs before it was "frozen".
If you want Iran to build nuclear bombs, your way is probably the best: Steal their money, isolate them from the outside world, make any nuclear deal impossible by making impossible demands, make constant threats to bomb them "until the sand is glowing".
Lots of right wing extremists don't want to make any deals with Iran. They think a deal makes the US look weak and they want Iran to remain this supervillain who they can use to scare people with. If that comes at the cost of Iran getting nukes, I think that is a price lots of crazy right wingers are willing to pay.
I live on this planet, and I would prefer it if Iran don't get nukes.

    • @mberg1974
      @mberg1974 Před 8 lety +2

PixyDst500 The thing about nukes is, there is no point in spending money on them if you can't tell anyone that you have them. The opposite is more common, N Korea says they have nukes but experts are sceptical since there is very little evidence supporting that claim.
Israel will never go to war against Iran without consent from the US. There is hope of Iran changing and becoming more democratic and less of a terrorstate in the next 10 years, and that could not happen without this deal.

The problem is that this deal has a ten year expiry date. After which they are allowed to make as many nuclear warheads as they please.
The #1 problem for Iran has been how to deliver these warheads to your doorstep. Sanctions made that very difficult A warhead is pretty useless if you dont have a delivery system (the rocket part of the ICBM)
This deal asks them to give up most of their useless warhead material...and in exchange they can now work on their delivery systems...with the money they now have with sanctions gone. And after 10 years, they can make new warheads....and put them in their new delivery systems...now they have a way to deliver Mr. Warhead to your doorstep...yay!!!

OKAY. Let's get the REAL facts about this deal, and Iran straight!
The 24 day notice: The 24 day notice only takes place IF and only IF the IAEA wants to inspect somewhere else other than all the known nuclear sights of Iran. And no, it does not take 24 days, it take UP to 24 days- so they (IAEA) can inspect in the 24 days. If the 24 days are reached, the vote goes to the UN panel- where all the countries on this deal will vote whether or not we can inspect Iranian soil- and then inspection will happen. OTHERWISE, for all the KNOWN nuclear sights, the IAEA can inspect at anytime, and they will because there is a 24/7 monitoring service that is set up. What? Did you expect that the UN could just waltz in to any country and inspect? No there is a formal process. In fact, many of you don't realize because you listen to liberal/conservative biased media, but 24 days is REMARKABLY fast. It usually takes MONTHS to set up inspections as such. Cleaning up nuclear weapons, and even moving them (which is what everyone is afraid of) takes quite awhile- even months if you want to be close to exact. Also, it is nearly impossible, even with all the money Iran has, for them to get/build a bomb with the low level of enriched uranium, and the lack of centrifuges/sights they will have. The arms embargo continues to be in place, so they cannot receive major weapons. The oil embargo on the US will be lifted so, 2$ gas for us!
NOW TO IRAN AS A COUNTRY:
Why do they shout death to America/Israel?
Well, for starters. We shot down a passenger airplane (Iran Air 655) - killing hundreds of people and affecting hundreds of families (sounds like 9/11 a lot). We took over their government in 1958 and put our own leader in (the shah) which eventually led to the 1979 revolution- nearly tore apart the country. The US and Iraq lied about chemical weapons that led to a terrible, decade-long war for Iran. Those are a few reasons why the relations with Iran are uneasy. So basically, we walked into their home and caused a bunch of unnecessary shit during the US imperial regime.
Also, Iran supports any people whom are oppressed by their goverment. JUST AS THE UNITED STATES DOES EXCEPT THE UNITED STATES IS ALLIED WITH COUNTRIES LIKE SAUDI ARABIA- WHICH BEHEADS ITS PEOPLE UNDER LAWS SIMILAR TO THOSE OF ISIS'S! The Iranian goverment supports oppressed people in countries in Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi countries, etc.- and if you didn't know, those countries are so oppressive on many of its Shiite and Sunni people; many are executed under laws that ISIS abides by as i said earlier. IRAN OPPOSES THAT. So the 'rebels' Iran is supporting such as Hezbollah (which have seats in diplomatic relations with other countries), Hammas (which fight for the land that was stolen from them, and yes their is christians and jews in Palestine), and the yemeni rebels are fighting because they are oppressed by their governments. They support the destruction of the Israeli goverment because Israel unfairly took the Palestinian land that they say was given to them by their imaginary god. So the reason that they say death to America and Israel, is because they do not support the GOVERNMENTS, not the people, but the GOVERNMENTS because the United States/Israel openly supports the destruction of the oppressed people. If you don't believe me, just look in the comments below! Many want the destruction of Iran. Iran is a country who has NOT declared in over 200 years, has had nuclear power for decades, and has not touched the US in years, and we all the sudden want to kill them? Seems like another fake trilogy of wars to me.

Good job on not being hysterical and actually taking a reasonable approach to it. I swear this middle school level of thinking of "good" guys vs "bad" guys is poisonous to our existence.

TwZGaming As an Iranian, I thank you so much for this comment. I feel like a lot of Western people feel the need to hate on Iran because of what the media feeds them and not based on any truth. We are NOT terrorists, as I always say to people, if Iran wanted to use it's nuclear power for evil, we would've done it by now. Iran is full of intellectuals and science is a very prominent field, I can be sure that it is used for research and such.
Adding to your point about the Shah and the revolution, the US and Britain were seeing that the Shah was becoming increasingly powerful and could eventually be the most powerful man on earth, which is one of the reasons they sparked this revolution (this is a pretty general statement because Iranian politics are super complicated).
People cannot even begin to understand what the US has done to us, on a personal level, I can tell you. The same passenger plane that was shot down that you mentioned - one of my fathers friends was on board. The Iran-Iraq war that was supported by the US took away my parents' teenage years, the war literally started when my mom was 11, and ended when she was 19. Schools were shut down, bombs were raining down on the streets (even major cities like Tehran). It is very hurtful that we are called the terrorists when we have had our fair share of terrorism upon us.

There is only one issue I have with what you have said here, and that is the following, quote: "...Israel unfairly took the Palestinian land that they say was given to them by *their imaginary god*..."
Their "imaginary god" is the same one christians and muslims pray to, the god of Abraham. They are all barking up the same tree, but just from different angels (read interpretations of that deity's message). These three religions, judaism, christianity and islam are called the abrahamic faiths, because they each claim Abraham to be their patriarch/ancestor.

This deal sounds great! It is great. The last deal was great as well. What everyone is up in arms about is the enforcement. This deal has terrible inspection terms (e.g. the length of time of giving notice, and the sites that can be inspected) and enforcement terms (e.g. the time given to come into compliance when a violation is observed, and what actions we can take when there is non-compliance). That is THE critical part of the deal, and this deal has no muscle in that area. Also, sanctions were working. The reason this got done was because no one in global politics at the time would stand up to Iran when they threatened war. Yet war is always a last resort possibility, and we have to be prepared to use that tool, IF necessary. Turns out, only Iran was, so they got what they wanted.

3 of the top nuclear site can only be inspected by Iranian officials. All other inspections require 24 day advanced notice.

Plato The video should explain the controversy surrounding the deal. Instead, it only explains the liberal argument for the deal and fails to talk the Republican argument against it, don't you think the video should present both sides of the argument and let viewers decide if the deal was worth it?

Billions of dollars were given to Iran. A place of which believed in “death to America and Israel”. Republicans do not hate obama for trying to make peace, but some of them did not like the fact that he handed money over to a nation that has been known to have terrorist groups within.

Beau Biker well, why do the u.s. even bother sending nuclear inspectors then? Sending u.n. nuclear inspectors was part of the deal. To me this was the original plan to withdraw the u.s. just used the deal for espionage purposes. Simple as that!

trump had no problem with the restrictions imposed against iran in the deal, his argument was that, the deal did not warrant such relaxations of sanctions against iran. It's also a case of relative gains by the USA as they seem to get relative gains. They always try to get the best out of the deal
