  • Watch how the Syrian civil war became the mess it is today.
After four-plus years of fighting, Syria's war has killed at least hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions. And, though it started as a civil war, it's become much more than that. It's a proxy war that has divided much of the Middle East, and has drawn in both Russia and the United States. To understand how Syria got to this place, it helps to start at the beginning and watch it unfold:

presenting this in timeline makes it much more easier to comprehend the story especially when it has continued for this many years (been 10yrs now!) with multiple actors’ complicated involvements at different points in time.
Now in 2021, it’s been 4 years since this video and it would be great (for viewers and also for record-keeping) if you can make a follow-up one from 2018 until now (2021).
Because of covid-19 pandemic, international attention on Syria is fading despite a lot of the same atrocity still happening to Syrian people everyday and night .
Even crazier, the Gulfs states are now beginning to reestablish relationships with Bashar Al-Assad regime (normalize
Him). Plus the US just agreed to a gas pipeline deal from Egypt Lebanon through Syria which would be the first time US officially engages with the Assad regime.
Look forward to your next video!

Yes the U.S funded isis back in the early 2000s and at the end of the 90s but that has nothing to do with what isis is today. The U.S funded ISIS to fight alqueda and after alqueda was deemed defeated ISIS turned onto the U.S which caused there conflict. This has nothing to do with the war in syria. the war was caused by saudi and iraq trying to control the middle east and since saudi is backed by the U.S the U.S is brought in and since iraq is backed by russia, russia joins.

I'm from Iran and every week we have some dead bodies from Syria.
I don't know when we have peace in MiddleEast? When we listen and speak instead of killing each other? Syria became like a game for big powers, they all want to win in this game and show they're power, but they just destroyed Syria. If war stopped right now its take at least 25 years to rebuild this country. As Iranian I'm feeling so guilty about this stupid war. I know that 5M Syrian refugees will hate iran, maybe not today but in future that hate come back to us.
We Middle Eastern people have same culture, same food, same history, we build civilization here, we conquered the world, but when we are united. While all of the word are growing we are just fighting each other and buy weapons. It's dream of mine that someday there is no war in Middle East. (-_-)

He was the only republican who confronted Jeb Bush on his brother's intolerable warmongering in Iraq. He had sympathies for Putin and Assad. Everything he said in the campaign pointed against yesterday's actions. We thought that he would put Americans first. A LOT of former Trump supporters have denounced his actions and they shouldn't be punished for believing in a lie. Was Trump justified, I don't know, but I do know that it was too soon.

Frank C. Miller i am talking about russia not soviet union because i can also say that usa dropped nukes and killed thousands of people and WTF 100 million people, are you out of your mind beacause that many people didnt even died in WW2. Moreover i am only talking about one country direct actions. And in afghanistan usa created terrorists, which later became terrorist organisation so dont call those mujhaideens civilians .Usa started war in many countries after world war 2 . Libya, lebanon, vietnam to name a few. Do you know that it cost usa 4-5 trillion of dollars in afghanistan and 6-7 trillion of dollars into middle east. Usa buy these jihadis arm them and say its a civil war, so that people like you did not ask too many questions. In the 21st century every war has started with direct or indirect involvment of usa

The king who was of South Indian ancestry faced powerful opposition from the Sinhalese chieftains who sought to reduce his power. A successful coup was organized by the Sinhala chieftains in which they accepted the British crown as their new king. This ended the line of the Kingdom of Kandy and King Rajasinha was taken as a prisoner. By 2 March 1815 the islands sovereignty was under that of the British Empire.
