You are a girl after my own heart! I was beginning to think I must be a bit weird not liking to fill my Bible with all the tabs and sticky notes, and inks, and colours, and bulky crafty things, because social media is full of it, and it seems like everyone is doing it...except me! I wish I could like it but it's just not me. I find it distracting and a bit overwhelming. When I was growing up, I was taught to respect books and never write, colour, or scribble in them and that has stayed with me throughout my life, it seems. I have tried to do it but, because I'm such a neat freak, it didn't feel natural or right to me. I'm happy for those who find joy in decorating their Bibles, but I'm really happy to have found someone here on CZcams who I can totally relate to! I have just subscribed!

I still feel a bit of a fish swimming against the flow as you're right, the craze right now is all the bright bulky things and it's not my vibe at all, lol 🙈But I figured, why not show my way and hope that there's others out there and turns out, we're definitely out there haha! Thanks sister for your amazing insights! I started off not marking in my bible, then used only one colour, and then I saw the online trend which uses all the different colours, pens etc. I was using it for the little while and then recently went back to single colours or two maximum because my brain just couldn’t get my head around all the distraction when I went back to read the Bible. I felt like I had too much going on, though I could see the merit of that. Now I’m onto one colour again and since finding your channel I’ve tried the pencil, and I’m really enjoying that. I used to use pencil when I was in high school for my books because I didn’t want to mark them, and the only thing I did find was that it does tend to smudge. I also find that on white page edges, i must have smudged the pencil going too close to the margin or got it on my hand and there appears some darkness there but still pencil is my firm favourite right now because it’s so versatile! But I think it really does depend on the paper and pencil as you mentioned already. I had an issue that led me to this because I wrote something down in one of my bibles and I no longer hold that theological position but there it is it’s still there permanent. So I had to cross it all out and that really bothered me because it ruins the Bible as does any bleed through. I do get disappointed when the gilding starts to chip off with regular use (must be my hands!) but I just have to get past that because the Bible is just a tool and I have neat freak tendencies which makes it hard. Love you sis, and your neat freak bringing out my own inner neat freak, really love this video. Had no idea about tape either! Ps love the coaster you’re using

    • @my-white-bible

You're welcome sis, thank you for your thoughtful comment! It's so interesting that so many of us get overwhelmed with the colour coded thing yet it has become such a trend lol! We can only try things to see what works but glad to hear I'm not alone with preferring one colour at a time.
I'm pleased to hear you're enjoying using a pencil! Yes true, I imagine paper texture plays a role with it. That's such a great point though, that if you realise something significant that you want to change, pencil really is so handy. I know they have Frixon pens too but I worry about creasing the page with them when erasing.
Oh noo I've not had a gilded Bible before purchasing this white one last Autumn, so I'm yet to experience the chipping, that's gonna make me sad! But technically a well used Bible should look battered lol so we may have to accept that aspect of it, even as a neatfreak lol!
Thank you for your kind words, love you too! And I also love my coasters lol this one is made from Olive Wood - maybe I need to make a video of my desk accessories next, hehe

Oh most definitely pleaeeese do a whole desk accessories video sis! 😊🥰 oh wow…olive wood? That is so cool esp when olive trees feature so much I the bible ! I have been putting olive blossom honey in my tea, it’s delicious! Yes I shouldn’t get too upset with the gilding going dull, but when I really study a book, sometimes (depending on the gilding) I get the wear and tear in that book - it’s then obvious when compared to the other books lol 😂 but…. you’re right at least it’s being read and soooooo loved! Lots of love to you sis and to our other sisters here as well! ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️

One is my first bibles had the bright highlights and it drove me nuts!!! It’s currently deep in my shelf never seeing the light of day! I also can’t with bulk it kills! I love the tape idea, but the bulk would stress me out! I do the cheap version with a pastel lavender frixon erasable and a ruler😂 I always start with pencil, but when I read through again, if the note is something I find valuable for like- like bible secrets- I’ll rewrite in either a Sakura micron or Sarasa vintage gel that matches the Bible’s cover. I found that these are the only ones that don’t bleed through and it looks pretty and matches😍 For bookmarks I use pastel page tabbies that easily peel off that match my highlighter, I tried using other bookmarks, but the bulk was real as you know I do ten chapters 😅

Take it from me, since I have tons of experience with mechanical pencils of all kinds, mechanical pencils are not all created equal. The mechanisms wear at different rates, the erasers wear out at different rates, the erasers are of differing ease of usage, the lead breaks at different rates, there is differing amounts of wobble in the lead mechanism, etc. This is not to say that you need to get an expensive one, because some of the cheap ones are some of the best (cough, cough, Mitsubishi Uni Kuru Toga), as long as you do your research and buy the right model.

More than anything we are to hide God's word in our hearts so that we will not sin against him. ~Psalm 119:11 📖 We are supposed to spend time with the Lord getting to know Him, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. All of the highlighters, washi tape, sticky notes ...and all of the cute stickers are not going to get us closer to God. What those things do for someone like me., Because I 💜🩶💜 all of it.... I would love to know how you are able to make the tape work so neatly. The tape looks wider than each line of text. Are you cutting down the center?

Ah well spotted sis! Yes, I do trim the tape - centre cut for 2 lines and 1/3 cut for one line! I have it calculated down to an art now, haha!

Hey would consider linking all the items in the video, especially your bible? 🫣 also the bulb light. It seems necessary for my studies. Aesthetics helps me study better 😅

Ah yes I could list them, I'll need to find US and UK links lol but I can do that! Yes, the floating lightbulb is a total necessity... agreed... lol 😂
