I have been a Christian since 1993. I have had a lot of Bibles during my walk. There are some Christians who have 1 (one) Bible during their entire Christian life: it has their name & the date they received it; good for them. I'm a highlighter/note-maker. I lost track around Bible #4 or 5 of how many I have marked in: that was easily 20 years ago. It was difficult to overcome the training from Kindergarten & up, "Do not mark in your {text/library} book!" And, it's a Bible! But, I started with underlining in pencil, then pen, then writing notes in the margin, and highlighting. Sometimes, when I get a new Bible, I'll transfer over important (to me) marks & notes. But, mostly, a new Bible is a place to start fresh, with fresh revelations. Some people have a system: colours of highlighters for certain topics, colour of ink underline for certain revelations, notes about ____, or whatever. I don't have any system. I grab the nearest pen, highlighter, pencil, and straightedge. My Bible marking system makes sense to me, and that's good enough. God bless.

As you do, I have Bibles I just write in and others I go "wild" with art journaling. And then others in between.

My day’s are mostly all the same because I am home bound and have been for year’s due to serious chronic health issues. I am totally amazed about how much you have accomplished and your growth journey. Because of my health issues my brain does not work like it use too. I have trouble staying focused and on task, and will start something and move to something else. Any thoughts? I wrote a comment asking for your advice on another one of your video’s I watched today. That one may give you more insight into what I am needing help on. Thank you for sharing, you are so blessed that God put all of this on your heart and you share it with all of us.

Reading from the front cover to the back page didn't work for me because the books of the Bible aren't arranged in chronological order. I found a way that was more my style (but there's a style for everybody) and I've read my Bible all the way through several times. I like to read New Testament and Old Testament daily because I need the stories and lessons that relate directly 2 my relationship with Jesus as a Christian and my fellow man everyday and that material is in the New Testament. The history and stories of famous people we learned about in Sunday school as children and saw amazing movies made about are in the Old Testament. We also find prophesies and wisdom that is true from the beginning of everything until the ends of the Earth and Beyond in the Old Testament . But there's also very dry recording of fact that can be a lot to take in if it's the only thing you're reading because you're going from Genesis all the way through the book of Revelation and you're still in the Old Testament. It has huge chunks of it that are very dry and could really be off-putting to the new Christian if that's the only thing they're reading every single day . It isn't written like a modern-day book that has a beginning on the front page and an ending on the last page. The Bible isn't one story but is a ever-evolving word Holy Spirit reveals truth you didn't realize before when you read the very same section based on what you need at the time you're reading. Psalms and proverbs are worthy of reading something from every day as well.
So I usually mix it up by Reading New Testament, some Old Testament, some Proverbs for wisdom and Psalms for praise every day. I really love Proverbs and the New Testament! There are things that nobody really talks about in the New Testament that have given me encouragement and insight that aren't necessarily the gospel (how to be saved) , but they're SO important in your walk and and getting to understand and know Jesus as your personal Savior! The way he treated people and how he was when he walked this Earth make me want to spend as much time hearing what he said and learning how to understand and to be understanding of other people! I love him and I love hearing his kind words and about his kind Deeds he did while he was on Earth in human form. If we all acted like Jesus acted towards each other it would make so many people's lives so much better and maybe we could be an example by how we treat them and then they pay it forward by how they treat the next person? And our lives become a witness for Jesus to lead others to him! I think that's absolutely wonderful ! So I don't like focusing on only a few things. I need to feed my soul with a little bit of everything everyday .
I find it surprising that churches barely touch on but usually don't even read from the Book of Revelation except to scare people with what it says about judgment. If people understood what's coming they might be more inclined to get their soul right with God by accepting Jesus as their savior. I know I don't want to be counted with those whose names aren't written in the Book of Life! And I don't want to see people that I love being cast into the Lake of Fire! I think we should tell people that these things are going to come to pass isolate understand the seriousness of all this! reading a book of Revelation what makes me want to share the gospel even more!

So true! Each person needs to read the Bible how it makes sense to them. I read the NT from beginning to end, then Psalms, PROVERBS, Songs of Solomon, and the prophets of the OT and ended with the rest of OT.

Hi Cat, I’m new to your channel as of today. I have watched your first video about gardening, journaling (write, note taking, bible), and Fervent, and, Easy Way to Study your Bible. This may be a silly question, but, do you do each each different type everyday? Or, do you specifically work on one theme until you are finished with it? I’m not sure where to start, I guess partially because I spent year’s studying Kay Arthur’s Precept Upon Precept studies. There is an entirely different way of marking, key words, contrasts, people, etc. I have that so engrained in my mind, I’m not sure how to approach a new way, but I know for my spiritual growth I need to try some of your themes, etc. Can you give me any suggestions on where I should begin, and if I do more than one type, like the Garden theme, and journaling? I also have Fervent to start over and go through it the way you do to get the most out of it. I appreciate any help you can give me. Blessings!

Hi Cat, as Jason Mayfield would say, the struggle is real. I have a Cambridge widemargin ESV in goatskin. This bible has beautiful wide margin and paper is great for writing but the bible is huge and doesnt make sense as a regular daily driver. I think this will be a stay at home bible used to take verbose devotional notes that I can pass down. I am looking for a daily driver and may have found it in the KJV sovereign. I watched your video on this bible as I thought it would be perfect for day to day carry. I want my daily driver, chain reference for topics, discipleship bible, witness, church, etc..
