"Let's try to keep one minute per hero" >almost 39min video. I love this guy. You have no idea how many hours of dish washing have been accomplished with your darkest dungeon guides playing loudly on a shitty phone perched on a plastic stand barely avoiding the soap and water so I can get every detail while the noisy glasses and metal get done on the background.

my favourite low budget build is only buying 3 skills for houndmaster, since you never need to press guard anyway
Houndmaster only having 6 total skills always struck me as odd. Probably an oversight on the developer's part.

Jokes aside tho, why the fuck did they make his guard only last one turn? There was no fucking reason to nerf it that hard. Man at arms can already do things like bolster and bellow to keep his party safe, has riposte to deal even more damage with the guard and has camp skills and trinkets that let him build up more prot. The houndmaster can just put on the protector collar to get more dodge or he can stun a single enemy (which the MAA can also do while also changing enemy positions as well as his own) and that's it in terms of keeping his allies safe. I don't think it would have made the man at arms obsolete to buff the houndmaster's guard (and if it did it would have been easy to just amp up the MAA's damage so his riposte is almost as strong as highwayman's).
Started playing this game like 3 days ago and shuffle has helped me up my knowledge and game sense immensely. I was but a mere babe trying to crawl but now I am a full jackaloon in full stride. Thank you good sir.
Leper: fortunate armlet, warrior's cap, chop/hew/solemnity/intimidate
Hellion: surgical gloves, warrior's armlet, (bleed out or wicked hack)/swan/yawp/if it bleeds
Crusader: paralyzer's crest (unless you're doing a holy lance comp), caution cloak, smite/stun/holy lance/inspiring cry
Abomination: padlock of transference, reckless charm
Shieldbreaker: book of relaxation, reckless charm, pierce/puncture/adder's kiss (bring expose instead if they can't blight)/serpent sway (low level he wouldn't put this past rank 2)
Flagellant: bleed amulet, warrior's cap, punish/rain of sorrows/exsanguinate (or redeem, use your judgment)/reclaim (level 3 is bad so skip it)
Man-at-arms: book of relaxation, dazzling charm, rampart/bellow/defender/retribution
Bounty hunter: surgical gloves, dazzling charm, collect bounty/uppercut/flashbang/finish him (you can swap one of the stuns for mark for death, other 2 skills need a specific strategy)
Highwayman: surgical gloves, reckless charm, pistol shot/point blank/duelist's advance/open vein (wicked slice if you're in ruins)
Occultist: steady bracer, speed stone, sacrificial stab/vulnerability hex/wyrd reconstruction/hands from the abyss
Vestal: survival guide, chirurgeon's charm, judgment/dazzling light/divine grace/divine comfort
Houndmaster: steady bracer, agility bracer (bleed amulet is good too), hound's rush/hound's harry/target whistle/guard dog (unfortunately cry havoc sucks early)
Grave robber: Dismas's head, reckless charm, pick to the face/shadow fade/lunge/thrown dagger
Jester: Barristan's head, lucky dice, dirk stab/finale/battle ballad/inspiring tune
Plague doctor: swift cloak, witch's vial, noxious blast, plague grenade, blinding gas, battlefield medicine
Arbalest: medic's greaves, Dismas's head, sniper shot/suppressing fire/battlefield medicine/rallying flare
Antiquarian: camouflage cloak, survival guide, nervous stab/flash powder/invigorating vapors/protect me (festering vapors and dodge vapors are better later but bad early)

I just realized: The bleed on Open Veins does more damage on one tick than is lost by the -15%. And even if that does not apply, there still is the speed debuf. And that is before we are talking about the extra accuracy. Like, Open Veins arguably is better even in the Ruins? That is 1-2 direct damage difference. Tops.

So you run two heroes for doing the job of one regular skill on many heroes ? Seems not efficient at all.
@@OK-sd3lp on the contrary! Bringing an enemy backliner forward can be worth nearly the same as a stun, as it can cause 1-2 enemies to fall out of position.
And killing something as squishy as an enemy backliner with Leper usually happens without a crit (Leper's crit chances are very poor), so their body is left over to remain a stumbling block to the now out-of-position enemy mash.
Although it is likely that a Bounty Hunter's Come Hither would better work with Arbalest or Houndmaster, who can immediately capitalize on the mark...

First time commenting but I must have watched like 20 of your videos this month. I think I enjoy watching your content more than actually playing the game if my 4 hour play time is any indication...
Just wanted to say I think this video was a good idea. I tried to extrapolate and downgrade from your trinkets and class guide videos to match what I actually had on hand as things started coming in but it didn't go too well... as you allude to here +Stress taken at the beginning of the game when you've got The Usual Suspects with bad quirks as team 1 and whatever 4 sacrificial lambs come in on the stage coach each week as the team you use to pay for their treatments isn't a recipe for success. Meanwhile I've seen a lot of what you recommended here as completion rewards I could've gone after instead of choosing quests almost solely based on heirlooms available. Live and learn I guess.

Great guide! Helps a lot since I just started playing. I do disagree with you on the Antiquarian because I have found starting out that stacking two or three uses of the Dodge boost really helps my early game more than debuffing one enemies accuracy since it can miss or fail against enemies with dodge like most of the stress casters. After you get some other sources of dodge and accuracy (blacksmith upgrades or trinkets) then the debuff outperforms the group dodge but since the group dodge can stack up to three times and doesn’t miss, it’s a better first choice.
I've been looking up team comps, and I couldn't find a staple of mine listed for the life of me. Arbalest (Sniper Shot, Suppressing Fire, Blindfire, Battlefield Bandage), Jester (Harvest/Slice Off, Finale, Battle Ballad, Inspiring Tune), Grave Robber (Pick to the Face, Lunge, Shadow Fade, Thrown Dagger/Poison Dart), and Houndmaster (Hound's Harry, Target Whistle, Guard Dog, Blackjack). Was I on to something, or just getting stupid lucky? Took down the Sonorous Prophet, The Collector, and two Shamblers in the same Ruins run with them; in my defense, I summoned one Shambler at an altar.
There are a lot of comp possibilities, so if it works then it's a good team :) As long as people aren't dying or afflicting every mission you're doing it right.
Surgical gloves are not found only in the warren. They can also be found in the trinket shop, and are worth buying if they show early game.
Nah. In Blood Moon/Stygian they aren't worth buying. Fish for a better trinket simply put. Play the game efficiently please.

another thing about abom's transformation - it's a big percentage based self-heal, similar to falgellant's, so you can sometimes save a fight, by suddenly recovering most of your health (it can also crit), it's just at early levels, those % based heals are pretty meh
i like to carry open vein over wicked slice, even in ruins, just cuz of that accuracy (wicked is like leper level of bad accuracy)
even with bleed resistances, i really like houndmaster in the cove, to put that -prot on crabs and guardians
Wicked slice is average accuracy though, not leper accuracy. You are trading a 30 percent damage swing for 10 accuracy and you should have some form of accuracy for your melee skills if ur not running gunslingers buckle
So My favorite early game team is Antiquarian/Houndmaster/Bountyhunter/Bountyhunter. The purpose of this team is to buff scouting and make tons of money, but it is also able to hold it's own in combat using the HM whistle with 2x collect bounty, so make sure the speeds line up to go HM - BH/BH. This works for any camping mission, use the HM scout-skill and both BH camp skills to get 30 + 25 + 25 = +80 to scouting for 10 camp points (yes you'll probably get ambushed). Use all the trinkets that give scout skill and try to get explorer traits for an extra +10. But with the camp skills alone you get a 30% chance to crit scouting with full torch, so even just an extra 10-20% makes a big difference. The camp buffs last for 4 battles, so try to scout the whole dungeon without fighting. You can do this very early, within the first 5-6 weeks and you will start popping secret rooms left and right, and you can get a lot of high powered trinkets like all the collector heads from the secret rooms. You don't even need to finish the dungeon, just go in, find the secret rooms, and boogie out, you'll make enough to pay your bar tab :)

yo dude, Don't know If you have answerd this question before, but, when do I pick the curio ?? when I finnish a dungeon and just drop everything that isn't worth a lot of money
also, when you kill the torch the game just go "oh no torch? more and better lot for you then"

You can pick most of it up on your first time through the dungeon. Hard to backtrack an entire dungeon for it unless you have a ton of food. If you have to go back the way you came to finish the level then leave curio for then.
I keep running 2 healers I once went whit 1 and well the healer screwed me it just kept low balling it after that I never went whitout 1 occultist and 1 vestal I have 3 of each so I won't run out it actually works and then have helion man at arms leper crusader bounty hunter highway man as 2 and 1
love your guide, very helpful, how did you increase your rooster to 71 cause the mods I find only increase until 30, can you share how to increase the max rooster size? also I read somewhere that there are 'new hero' mods with their own skill(eg librarian, medusa etc), do you have plan to do a character guide on them? thanks
Roster mods usually scale with the stagecoach upgrades, so if you don't have more than 30 and the stagecoach isn't upgraded then try that :)

I think punishment's hood is better than bleed amulet on flagellant early game, especially if you're taking him to the Weald or Crimson Court.
Punishment hood got someone killed in my torchless run so I've stopped using it since then, but it's still a great trinket.

This is the game that i un-installed and re-installed on weekly basis... I simply can't find the courage to play this game without cheating yet it is so addictive.
I searched everywhere , and didn't see anything about this . so let's say you have a team that is "busy in town" for 2 weeks , and the other one destressing and one member dead , do you mix and match and run ? or take a fresh recruit team to level up your second team's loss
It sounds like a good time to level up more people if you have space. If you still want to experiment with the pieces you have I'd recommend that too though. It might help you learn new strats and find new teams which is great. Sorry I kind of both-sides that answer lol
