I love that melancholy look she gives to the worm hole cause her friend is there...
Hard to believe that a silly cartoon character looking would stir emotions
...and her love on the other side of the Celestial Temple (also, RIP Rene).
Probably while thinking “May the Prophets be with you, Ben.”
Same, I came across this clip and didn't realize how much it'd hit me in the feels.
Kinda doing the "Widow's Wharf". Widows of sailors lost at sea would grieve by walking the docks their husbands took off from, waiting and hoping that they may return to their loving arms... Both for her friend, and her love... Keeping the porch light on for the day they may return...
Kira tossing Sisko’s baseball shows she’s still waiting for his return
Aren't we all?
I'm still hoping for a DS9 movie. Hopefully one that shows Captian Sisko's return.
@@ablanuza76 sadly René Auberjonois (Odo) won't be in it
That baseball represents linear existence. I can see Avery Brooks return from the wormhole for at least one last adventure with the surviving members of DS9 (A Picard Season 3 styled Journey).
I bet every time a ship comes through the Wormhole, Kira goes to the window to check, juuuust in case it's. . .. And she never gets tired of hoping.
It’s her faith in the Prophets & Captain Sisko that keeps her going.
You don't have 50 years of resistance against genocidal occupation without an arrogant, foolish, and deeply necessary capacity to cling to hope.
Kira looks at the Celestial Temple open again, hoping the Emissary is returing. Instead it's just another cargo ship.
and while the Emissary is only the second person she most wants to see emerge, he is the one she holds the most hope for.
@@tyrant-den884Yeah, she knows Odo is gone forever.
That moment got me.
@@VuotoPneumaNN He came back to the Alpha Quadrant in the DS9 Relaunch and appeared in other Novelverse stories. Too bad the Star Trek: Coda trilogy ended the Novelverse.
@@AF-nc2fc That's Beta content, therefore irrelevant.
Shaxs and Kira are playing an oddly aggressive and wholesome version of "no u" I've ever seen
It reminds me a little of a scene from Boots Riley's "Sorry To Bother You", where two former friends turned adversaries aggressively compliment each other.
This is almost the inverse.
In DS9, the Bajorans from the Resistance always played the game. Such attention to detail while turning it up to "11".
Kira and Shax remind me of two residents I had in a nursing home they served in WWI and WWII together.
BOTH OF THEM?!
Aw
@@WTFisTingispingistwo brothers in arms from two of the worst wars in history, hard to think of a stronger bond.
@@WTFisTingispingishard to imagine living through both wars, even more so fighting in both. I'm sure their bond was one of the only things that kept them from going mute after all that.
It is so crazy that a Cartoon that has such a silly vibe is giving so many Trek fans what they wanted with Throwbacks and acknowledgements. The Next step is to have a Lower Decks character appear on Picard.
They're crossing over with Strange New Worlds this year in their next season
Its happening in this season of strange new worlds. Paramount has been killing it lately
I can imagine seeing a Captain Bradward Boimler on Star Trek: Legacy.
It's like, they've actually watched few time all TNG era shows and also Orville, just to be certain what to do right.
If only Aaron Eisenberg had been alive for this series. He definitely would've loved having a guest appearance like this one 😢
0:35 I was like "Oh hey, that looks like Kira...WAIT."
Kira looking out to the worm hole really give you a chill down the spine, and the music score that plays is both heart warming but also a sense of sadness
Kira still has the baseball 😢
I love the back and forth between Shax and Kira
I love that they use all the old sound effects and ambience music, takes me back
Amazed that the Resistance was as successful as it was….considering that, according to them, they were always getting captured. 😄
I'd call that a benefit to the Resistance. Shaxs in closed quarters is the equivalent of a bomb going off.
Lower Decks is a silly, Ricky and Morty style cartoon yet it manages to capture the spirit of old Trek far, far better than any of the new shows or movies. Kira looking wistfully at the wormhole opening with the reflection in the glass is a nice touhc.
Nice that ops is like 100% Bajoran crewed now. It shows they've become more independent and less reliant on Starfleet.
Are they ever going to join the Federation? Having an all Bajoran crew points to no.
@@TheMrPeteChannel If memory serves they joined shortly after the dominion war, tho i am not 100% sure if that was before this episode takes place, but either way, the fact that the crew is all Bajoran doesn't mean they're not Federation members. Planets don't have to turn over all their assets to Starfleet when they join. DS9 is property of the Bajoran government, and thus commanded exclusively by their personnel. It's similar to how there are still Vulcan ships with full Vulcan crews and without Starfleet affiliation flying around. Federation members are granted a fair bit of independence.
DS9 was a great show. I like it.🖖
I love how the baseball reference is natural to her and for some reason a part of me wants to piss her off...I love it when she gets mad 🤣
calm down charlie brown
0:36 not many Starfleet officers in ops anymore kinda bittersweet
I love that. The Bajorans wanted independence and they actually got it. The Federation respects that fact.
@@randomcurrypuff6237Guess they're never going to join.
@@TheMrPeteChannel Federation members still have their local forces .. the station could be commanded by Bajoran military personel only and Bajor still be a federation member
@@sparrowltalso dominion war have ended long ago and so as starfleet demilitarizing their fleet and forces and return to their primary role as explorers again, so they probably handover the station to the Bajoran security forces, unless of course, Bajor have ask and request the Federation for additional security assistance
@@cholodelrosari0543 Makes also sense that the Federation handled DS9 control to Bajor specially in the context of de-scalation after the war.. since the wormhole is still open and operating regularly i guess the Dominion would be more at easy without having a military feferation outpost right at the other side..even if Bajor is a Federation member or at least heavily allied with
Shax and Kira are too modest. 😂
I love how in rage they’re both badass. Good ol’ Bajorans!
I don't know Shax. Even if I was your cellmate, you get the both of us out of the clink would mean I'd owe. Nerys is right. She owes you one. 😅
Nostalgia overload
Did Nana Vistor reprise her role as Kira in Lower Decks?
Yup, Armin Shimerman also did it.
@@Mr.Massenko As Quark obviously
@@Ryuurangerman… I actually heard his voice and thought to myself god, they got a terrible replacement. Doesn’t sound like him at all.
To be fair, he didn't have to wear those fake teeth here.
Having garak show up as well would’ve made this perfect.
Seeing Garak again after all this time would've been totally dope! He's always been one of my favorites
Agreed, but he probably stayed on Cardassia.
@@AtlasBlizzard they could’ve had it where they had a video communication with garak on cardassia.
0:44 i know how you feel Kira you miss them Odo and Sisko.
Mostly Odo.
That romance came out of nowhere. Kira had more feelings for Dukhat.
Good cartoon Drawings. The Reflection of the Wormhole. Nice
Attention to detail 👍👍👍👍
If I could be transported to anywhere in Trek, it wouldn't be any of the Enterprise ships of the line, it wouldn't be Voyager, it'd be Deep Space Nine.
The credits/letter type (I'm Native German speaker and don't exactly know how to say in English ) looks like TNG!
The expression for a kind of letter type is 'typeface', the word 'font' has mostly replaced this, but truthfully a font is a box containing lead letters of one typeface, but in all sizes.
Microsoft can be credited with that change to the English language.
@@stevetheduck1425 Not being a native English speaker, I did not know that.
The diversity is strong with this one
OK, but, I can help thinking, under Archer, two crewmates would share quaters (Daniels said "my bunkmate", "not one of my bunkmates"). Centuries later, ensigns are basically piled up in a capsule hotel?
The crew of enterprise in that show was like 87, or something like that, plus the California class are support ships, meaning they’re somewhat smaller
@@spikethompson2000 OK, it makes sense. Thank you.
@@spikethompson2000 My headcanon is that the Cali class also served as a troopship during the Dominion War, being second-line modular support ships with a large warp core, so shipboard luxuries were a distant third consideration behind "how many can we fit in here" and "How many of these can our shipyards pump out"
0:53 when the music swells... 🥹
Ferengi Rules of Acquisition 190th hear all trust nothing
Can we get an animated show about Kira in charge of DS9? Get the writers and show tunner for Picard season 3, and it would be perfect.
Props to original cast members returning to keep their characters’ stories going… but I’ve noticed even with voice actors you can hear the years. Kira here is meant to be Kira from about 25 years ago, and I can hear her say ‘s’ as ‘sh’. It’s normal for a person of Nana Visitor’s age, but there’s no way as a viewer I can believe that I’m hearing Kira only a few years after the end of DS9.
I just looked up the episode on Memory Alpha because I didn't believe you that this voice actress was Nana Visitor. While watching the clip myself, I thought, "oh, it's a shame they had to get an impersonator." But it actually was her. I guess time does more to the voice than I thought.
Looking at the wormhole, hoping to see the two men who ment everything to her again.
Why hasn’t Bajor joined the Federation? Did I miss something?
I think that in the Picard Series Bajor is part of the federation
I'm pretty sure they join in few years.
They had to undergo the petitioning process again after Sisko told them not to accept membership in the Federation.
Lower Decks occurs less than 5 years after the Dominion War so the Federation has its hands full with rebuilding while Bajor is relatively safe with Cardassia a shell of it's former Empire and the Dominion having a peace treaty with the Alpha Quadrant powers
They will eventually join in 2393 if we’re following the lore of star trek online😃🫶
It's still THEIR station and THEIR wormhole.
It's been 25 years, Kira should be a general.
Peacetime promotion is slow
@@Spearca 25 years???
The show is set shortly after the events of _Star Trek Nemesis,_ so it hasn’t been 25 years.
@@mjjoe76 Yeah, I was thinking of real time. but I still think she should have been promoted.
I gotta admit this one caught me off guard…
Wait hold on a second shouldn't Bajor be in the Federation by now, I mean it has to be a couple of years now after the Dominion war and the only thing that stopped Bajor from joining the Federation was Sisko vision/prophecy of the coming war which has now passed
Bajor awaits the return of The Sisko.
Is Kira thinking of Sisko, Odo, or both?
So Bajor didnt join Federation
They haven’t joined as of the time of lower decks. if we’re following Star Trek Online lore they joined in the year 2393😊
Who knows. It means no more Bajoran Militia style uniforms .
People that don't like this show don't know what they're missing.
Quark finally found profit
What is that ending?
Pity they could have tried to use better animation.
Towards the end of DS9 Kira was made a officialY Commander in Starfleet. Why is she weRING A BJOIN OFFIT , THEY JOIN THE FEDERATION SHORTLY AFTER THE DOMINION WAR.
yes, they join the Federation, but that doesn't automatically turn every Bajoran into a Starfleet member. Just like the Vulcan's still have their own independent science academy and research vessels, so can the Bajoran's still have their own independent forces. We never really see it because that's just not the focus of Star Trek, but I'd wager most planets still rely on their own people for everyday domestic affairs.
Bajor didn’t join the Federation right away, and her commission was not permanent. She was back in the Bajoran militia uniform in the series finale of DS9.
Ah, the trifecta, forced subtitles with the *horse farts*, weird loop in the ending and shilling NFTs
I LOVE this show, I hated it at first, but it has quickly become one of my favorites...once it stopped trying to be Rick and Morty and did it's own thing it really started to feel like 90s Trek.
Having said that: I cannot stand Mariner. Every time she speaks I cringe so hard. Terrible character...imagine what the show could be if she wasn't in it.
Take notes writers of Picard and STD: this is how you Star Trek!
Mariner is the absolute worst and everyone constantly treats her like she’s the best, I’m sick of it
As has been said it's been toned down over time. The original "Mariner is always right" whilst being portrayed as a self-centered idiot who the writers believe is always right has been largely removed - not abandoned altogether, but acknowledging that it's likely to screw things up a lot. I nearly gave up on Lower Decks after the first few episodes, largely because of her, but I love it now.
@@Reorte I dropped it midway through season 2
Beckett Mariner is interesting, as she's one of several 'damaged goods' characters that still have a place in Starfleet, Shaxs is another.
Earlier Star Trek would have sent them to have their heads put right, and Next Gen would have ignored this factor, never letting it appear in an episode.
Perhaps this is a step forward in the rehabilitation of front-line soldiers, something that is till only beginning to happen in real lfe. .
- and the younger Mariner has a thing for 'bad' style people, bad girl, bad boy, bad half-robot cyborgs... what was it she said in one of the earlier episodes?
man this nostalgia bait/fan service reference stuff is REALLY cringe. I hate that they couldn't have done a proper animated star trek that actually takes itself seriously instead of being goofy-ass "quippy" bullshit cartoon. Like, imagine if CBS/paramount contracted a serious japanese studio like MAPPA or something to do with star trek what they did with the Matrix - literally the star trek version of Animatrix. Would have been amazing, way better than this unfunny immature garbage.
Apparently the kids show Prodigy is pretty good.
This is the first clip of this show I've ever watched. Glad I skipped it. This is gross.
Yeah. Old Trekkie from the TOS days here. It's totally cringe. Trek's done, create something new now.
Not content to be it's own self contained garbage.. this series has to taint everything else in the Star Trek lineup.
show looks so terrible
You look terrible.
Have you actually watched it or are you just guessing? I’ve watched it. The only reason I don’t watch it is Mariner pisses me off so much it makes the show not enjoyable. She’d not only be run out of Starfleet, she’d be on Rure Penthe or something for her insubordination and bs. I keep hoping she gets tossed out an airlock and we see her explode.
@@docHOLLAday53it's nothing but member berries.
So I avoided the show because before it came put there was a scene with them saying "Romulan Whiskey" which instantly told me that no one writing the dialog actually watched the show because I've heard or "Romulan Ale" but not the other thing. So with everyone saying it's good I give this scene a shotband it's garbage dialog straight out of a 2002 fanfic by a high school student in a scene that should have happened in the outer ring corridors not the actual commander's office 🙄🤮
I felt bad that nobody read this so I am making sure you don't remain alone.
Are Romulans only allowed one type of drink?
I wish happiness for your life.
Aw, look how "edgy" you are, searching out things to object to. It's so darn cute I just wanna pinch your little cheeks! 😋
Nobody finds your pedantry interesting
Take it elsewhere
This is tripe. Dreck. A crude and twisted parody, a mocking homage to missing the point. Cargo cult Trek.
Bro this show needs to stay away from ds9
