I just bought a 1977 C10 Pickup
1974 Dodge D100 is our new project for 2024
1976 Ford LTD is what we took to the 2023 No Name Nationals in Sikeston Mussouri.
1979 Chrysler Cordoba 300 is what I took to the 2022 No Name Nationals in Sikeston, Missouri.
1978 Dodge W-150 Power Wagon is a project we worked on in 2021.

Biggest thing is I've got to find a quality Cam and lifters at a price I can afford I'm actually looking for a used Cam and lifters and I think I might have found one

Well I got a cam in the mail today so it's just tear apart put back together and see if it runs better

Trucks need low end torque=RV camshaft, use elgin lifters and use break in high zinc oil, get to 2k rpm for 20 minutes to polish lobes from crank splash, good luck not wiping cam lobe.

I'd be afraid of buying a cam at this time. I've heard all horror stories about the lobes not lobing after break in. Out of curiosity, did you pull the pushrod out and make sure it wasn't bent? My 273 did that after sitting for decades because the exhaust valve stuck initially. Anyways, we have 4 weeks before Power Tour, and I'm not ready either.

I am actually this week going to pull the intake off of it and verify that that push rod isn't bent or that the lifter is not collapsed because I'm like you I don't want to buy a Chinese camshaft and lifters because they're probably not going to be any good and I don't have the money to put a roller cam setup in it
