Heather and Michael, along with their daughters, moved from California to New York City when Michael started law school. Although they found their apartment on a whim, they quickly fell in love with its two bedrooms and cozy atmosphere. Functionality is key in this compact space, and Heather has masterfully created a light and airy feel to avoid any sense of clutter. Clever storage solutions are seamlessly integrated, making the most of every inch.
This small space has not only been a design challenge but also a bonding experience for the family. The Summers know this won’t be their forever home, but the intimacy of living in close quarters has brought them closer together. Heather's skillful blend of practicality and aesthetic charm transforms their apartment into a delightful and efficient haven.

Flash forward 10 years and they will probably think these years - in this cozy space - were the happiest of their young lives.
Yes. My girls still speak with fondness about the small 2 bedroom we shared in New York, and the coziness of the space.
That’s the first thing I thought. It’s often the little things that make life beautiful. Beautiful space and beautiful little family!
I have to agree on this. I had a 600 sq ft apt when my daughter was born and lived there for two years. It was so cozy and cute. My daughter just graduated high school and i would love to go back just for a day ❤
Agree
The space is maxed on style. The husband seems to be a hard worker and smitten with his family. The wife seems content with life and uses her feminine touch to make a beautiful home. The very definition of what a home and family should be. ❤
I agree, this family is so warm, loving and genuine ❤❤❤❤❤
bit of an old fashioned view but sure
it may be "old fashioned" but I will take it over dysfunctional !
@@Daleyeeaha lot of people need to go back to the old fashion views
@@chelseagirl278funny. I had to leave my 'old fashioned' married because THAT'S what was dysfunctional. I happily live alone in the warm and comfortable home I've created for myself.
This was refreshing. Thanks for showing us an alternative to wealthy, older interior designers’ homes. Best of luck to this family for their future success.
What’s with the snotty remark. Just because people are rich doesn’t mean their homes aren’t nice or worthy of appreciation.
It must suck to be such an envious twat.
I think the remark is more about showing a more relatable living situation as opposed to the many very large and luxurious homes that are shown on this channel. It wasn't a snotty remark at all.
@chaank1069 snotty? Surely if that was the case the OP would be talking down to anyone who isn't wealthy.
Thank you. My use of the word alternative was to convey inclusion on this platform.
In a time of hyperconsumerism and excess, this is extremely refreshing. It is absolutely possible to be happy and content and still dwell in beauty and abundance without having all the things. They've prioritized what is most important to their family and it is lovely to see and a great way to teach their children about what matters.
What a content family. They show that style is not based on money. They seem like a real team. Wish we could get an update on them in five years.
I was going to also ask for an update - I love this family! ❤️❤️❤️
Homeworthy, please take note. This was the best episode, and thank you for featuring this charming apartment.
Take note of what, exactly?
Please take note of what tracy2164 is saying.
@@monkeygraborangetake note of what viewers like and why so many think this is the best episode of the series.
Agree - best episode I’ve seen so far. I love how it featured the whole family.
The girls room truly is the best: stuffed animals on a rod, three toddler beds in a row, vintage tablecloth to cover the closet, delightful artwork etc.
How will the children reach the stuffed animals under the ceiling?
I wish she left the bookshelf pink!
The VERY limited color scheme in such a tiny apartment for five people seems so essential in making the place seem comfortable and not horribly overcrowded. Confining color almost entirely to their books is brilliant.
This couple has the right idea of what is truly important. Thanks for featuring them and their beautiful family and apartment.
This is one of the most delightful families I've seen on this channel! And great use of space!
I agree. 😊
I absolutely loved them too… so charming and genuinely loved and respected each other. This was really uplifting to watch❤
I’ve lived with my 3 year old daughter in a one bedroom apartment for the past 2 years. We love it. It’s beautiful. Forces us to stay neat and uncluttered. And I save money. It’s the bond that makes the home. Not the space. 💕
Love this! ❤
I'm going crazy in our 1 bd duplex in LA with an infant and dog 😮😫
You are so right!
@@llopez6017 That may be a sign you may have too much stuff....like me! I'm in the process of decluttering some items. I ask myself, do I really need/use this? If no, out it goes!
@@llopez6017you will look back and miss it! My husband and i started out in a 600 sq ft apt when our daughter was born with our German shepherd. 18 years later i miss it and still think it was some of the best days of our lives even though we didn’t know it then ❤
This is so heartwarming. Love grows best in small spaces 🥰
Yes!
Right on👊🏾
“Love grows best in small places”. I love that sentiment. Thank you.
As an interior designer I’m truly impressed with this lovely home. Curated in such a way that it’s thoughtful and easy and calming on the eye. I adore the children’s room. It’s testament too that this beautiful family all get on so well together. There are life lessons as well as interior tips in this creative home .
Most of the time living in a small spaces is a blessing specially for kids. Kids will adjust to whatever space you have. It's always a bonding time with them and family.
while the kids are wee...surely this is temporary
Amazing to interact with an adorable normal young couple, with their children, so uplifting to share this time with them, to see around their home, such a refreshing episode.
A most enjoyable tour of home experience. A New Yorker born and raised, I'm inspired to re-think my home worthy decor and greatest living space. Togetherness, love, laughter builds a home, creating peaceful mindset with children who can explore.
Nice seeing small places with large family. A different vibe.
There are several small home tours on this channel, if you enjoy that.
Lol I don't think 3 kids is a large family. I think that's called normal 😊
It was so refreshing to see a young family living in a small space in New York and making it work. It shows we don’t need all the “stuff” to live with good design and good function. 🥰
so great I had to comment twice! I love that the kids took over the tour for their room. Such a sweet family.
This adorable couple's home is an example home is what you make it regardless of the size. It is packed with style, functunctality, character, and vintage-like style. Beautifully done. I wish them the best with law school and other future success.
Two wonderful people who make a fairytale come true . I just love this episode .
Wow. First off, the lady of the house is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. And this couple is so inspirational, to live in such a small space with such beauty and simplicity is what I needed to see right now. I just downsized from a 3 bd 2 bath that's 1100 sq ft, with an attached garage. I'm struggling to determine what to keep and what to 'fit in'. I now feel like I'm in a spacious place. Keep up the great work Homeworthy.
Love a family that reads
The stuffed animal storage/display is genius!
Great use of space. I feel the warmth of the home. Cozy.
That’s bc they’re all similar in size and there are no garish neon colors, so everything goes well w/ the muted color palette of the room. Everything’s thoughtfully curated. The antique tablecloth used as a curtain. 🥰
Except that they can’t reach them- and they’ll try, then get hurt
There is so much to love about this home, including the family that lives in it! Design-wise I LOVE how Heather used a limited palette yet still brought in so much warmth, texture and even whimsy which I would not have thought possible. Makes me want to make my house all lovely white and cream and pine and browns! Really, really well done! (Also, the little extra tour by their daughters was so precious!)
So glad that her husband also got the chance to talk; most of the videos the women just talk. We are also interested in what men who live in these spaces have to say.
SO TRUE!!
My favorite of all the episodes of rich women talking about what they like and what they HAVE!!! This is a true HOME and a really cute family love that the husband was involved as well as the kids ❤ Mom is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
How much talent on the show and I love the idea of the bed in the corner and the pillows that even though it's a bedroom it gives it a look of a living space plus the sconces on the walls all her ideas are great about wall piece
I love these smaller apartment in New York tours. Allison has built such as wonderful channel!
So much love and warmth in this family. This is truly a cozy home. This inspired me to get rid of so much stuff that I don’t need. My favorite episode.
The vintage tablecloth hiding the closet...BRILLIANT!!!! xo
Beautiful apartment. Such a lovely couple. They have made use of every inch of space. The kitchen is so warm and welcoming. The girls are adorable. Love their sweet bedroom.
Many people in other countries live in small spaces. In the smaller space, the children will learn to share with one another and communicate more than those children each having their own room. I’m sure they also read and are read to more than other children. This mom is fabulous. Supporting her husband. She can take the children to the park and library. They can do crafts. They don’t need bikes. They are working together to live with less/no debt. Great job
I gotta tell you, I love NYC. I lived in city apartments like this for many years. But after living in a spacious suburban home I could not go back to squeezing around furniture just to get around my place.
🤩👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤩❤️ you guys just proved my point…having children is no excuse for clutter and messy homes!!! Bravooooo!!!🥂🤗👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The children's room is just incredible sweet for three adorable little girls.
Tours like this one are my favorites, and what sets this channel apart from others. I love seeing beautiful style with people I can relate to (not wealthy, but have amazing taste and clever ideas) also the children were so adorable! I loved seeing how they were also a part of the family design team. Wishing this precious family the best❤❤❤
Fantastic 600sq. Ft. Apartment presentation , practical use of spaces. it’s nice to see young couples with growing family featuring the temporary venue they’re occupying in a realistic way in a setting that not just anyone would lived in. Hey to be able to live in a pre-war apartment in NYC, facing Central Park is a dream for any person who live in New York. It’s a Blessing.🙏
Lovely couple with great ideas! But those gorgeous girls just stole the show🥰 Beautiful 🌟🌟🌟
What a wonderful family. You can really feel the love as they guide us through their home. Wonderful use of a small space! Vertical space is always where it's at with city living. Well done!!
You do with what you have. I remember my new family and we had packing boxes with plywood for a table.
In today’s society, having a roof is a blessing. It doesn’t matter how big it is.🙏🏿
Heather and Michael are fabulous. They have done such a beautiful job decorating their home. Their daughters are gems. Great tour!
Most charming. What is invaluable is the instrumental role this apartment plays in providing the happiness for this charming family. The five of them will look back to the years spent in this cosy nest with much affection.
As a renter, I have been looking for a light solution for my hideous office lighting for years! I can’t wait to order from Tulip! Thankyou to this wonderfully creative couple and homeworthy.
I SO enjoyed this Home Tour!! 💚💚💚💚 What a beautiful Family!! Nice to see People being Content with what they have! LOVE the girls room! It gives me a "Madeleine" feel! 🤗😀. So inspiring!!! 😊☺️
I’m new to this channel and as a person who loves PEACE and TRANQUILITY, the videos I’ve watched so far has definitely been so delightful 😊 while showcasing so much creativity and functionality while not neglecting what matters most, a place of serenity and comfort. ❤
Very very nice. The peace and unity amongst the family members were very evident. Just lovely
사랑스러운 아이들과 멋진엄마~~주거공간에 대해 새로운 생각을 하게 되었네요 ~~훌륭해요
Charming couple. Wish them the best.
I love this! I agree with Heather - home is family! Michael resonated that, too.
This house tour is now one of my top favorite videos. What an utterly lovely family living in a brilliantly creative and yet thoughtfully curated space. I’d rather a 600 sq ft apartment in NYC than a 5K sq ft house in the suburbs. Their daughters could not be more fortunate than to live across from Central Park and experience all of the culture and wonderment of NYC. Bravo to this couple. (I recognize the Odin Parker NYC music box because I own it.) Thank you to this wonderful tour and for new ideas.
Beautiful family living in a beautifully designed space .... I've always been drawn to smaller spaces because they just feel cozier and like Michael said, it helps connect the family. Heather has done a beautiful job using neutral colors .... everything flows so well!
sooo good! they are so creative and love how they styled their home. Way better to watch than the huge mansions!
Loved everything . The girls adding to the tour was very sweet.
Love how you hung the dollies on the rail in the kids room - brilliant! Lovely home.
I envision their own CZcams channel showcasing their lifestyle transition as the kids and book collections grow to influence the young generation.
Genius use of space. Love how it’s decorated and how they’ve made the most of it. Very beautiful yet functional.
What a lovely and inspiring young couple. They’re making their life and their home work for them. They’ve infused their home with joy and with love and what is important in life. 🇨🇦
Lovely Family!❤
WOW! Such a charming little home! I can't imagine what it must be like to be raising/homeschooling 3 little girls in such a tiny space.
This was most enjoyable. I'm the oldest of three girls, and it brought back memories from long ago. 😊
Same here. My two sisters & I always shared a bedroom growing up.
We always had small apartments when I grew up, and I have fond memories with my family during those times. I still prefer smaller homes under 1200 square feet. Great use of space!
Gorgeous home; beautiful style! I love smaller spaces. So cosy and happy. Feels full of love. This is my favourite home on your channel! ❤❤❤
I really like that you have started including unique apartments to you channel. Thank you. 💟
The philosophy on books spot on
i have 600 sq ft as one person in nyc and complain it's not enough space, esp as wfh. this was refreshing and reminds me i just need to be more creative. really sweet couple.
These people sound like they have a lot of love for each other. Fun tour. Thank you.
The girls' room is beautiful.
Love a city family! Your children will have the benefit of knowing so many cultures! ❤
This family's home reminds me of the time my mom, stepdad, and brother came to live with me and my brand-new baby; organization made the experience nice and cozy.
Love seeing these small spaces that pack a punch. Lovely!
Wow not sure how fams can live like this but very charming. Location seems great with the park. Nice finds and like the bookcase. Serious bedroom wall lights!
I spent time watching kids in a wealthy resort town where parents used intercomes to talk to their kids in bedrooms the size of this apartment. this little apartment seems so filled with love
Beautiful family, with great values and lots of love for each other. I love love love the family & their home. So very curated and functional.
Love this home! My mom and I moved around a lot and often lived in small apartments. But, living in a small space doesn’t mean you don’t want to live in a beautiful, cozy, and curated space. So, it is wonderful seeing other examples of people who choose to live small in order to achieve longer term goals, while also being thankful for and happy in the space they’re in. Great tour! Thank you for inviting us in.
I can relate so well with the mother having lived with my husband of 35 years and two children in spaces varying 400 to 12,000 square feet and the most intimate spaces are what initially influenced my interior design business. I will add that the house that we owned and I enjoyed designing the most was 1200 square feet.
Lovely family, making the best out of a small space for a few years until they can afford a larger home. When they do move, I know it will be a joy for them to have more space for their treasures. Heather knows how to organize and design their space. I know they will always have fond memories of their tiny apartment and the good times they enjoyed there.
What a lovely family…….both beautiful…………both so joyful………honestly, it brought tears to my eyes, especially the three little beds in a row…….
Wow what a beautiful home and family!! I so loved how you let the girls talk about their room!! Their room is absolutely sweet with the triplet beds and all the treasures!! ❤
Thank you so much, Heather and Michael, for tour of your apartment. It was a blessing to see your loving family. Wishing all the best!
What a sweet family and a beautiful space. I loved their comments on how their space fosters closeness in their family. ❤
I love how you’ve shown that you can make any space homey and beautiful, and the size of the space is not important.
They have done a wonderful job. it’s very charming and warm and cozy. I love small spaces as well and it’s clear they have great taste and are very creative.
Perfect for a young family while going to school. Very nice and cozy!
Your home is so unique for NYC, thank you for opening your home, very generous of you.
i admire your bohemian approach to living in NYC. your kids are so sweet and i like how you don't sweat the small stuff , good attitude raising a family in a small space...........one day you will live on park avenue ..........lol
I love how they decorated this small space. It’s beautiful!!
I lived in a small railroad style NYC apartment for seven years. I used to have to keep out-of-season clothes in a trunk (that functioned also as a coffee table) because there were only 2 small closets. You just learn how to make things work!! I think Heather has done a wonderful job with decorating as well as homeschooling the children!! The little girls are just ADORABLE!! One concern: I hope that large picture above their beds is plexiglass and not glass that could break if one of the children jumps and accidentally falls against it one day. That would be just terrible!
What an amazing couple. You can tell they love each other by how they look at each other and give time to share their complete thoughts. You can also see their love for each other by how much they are both invested in enjoying their home and how they both are invested in sharing about their home. 9 years going strong. Always remember it’s how you talk about! and how you talk to! And how much you value your family that keeps you in love. The second you. Take someone for granted or start being disrespectful things turn ugly. Thanks for being a wonderful example to everyone around you. Wish you both the best of luck. What a beautiful home. Beauty is kindness! I knew their was going to be a faith component. Stay blessed
House and family... Just darling!!
Impeccable taste. Beautiful family and super cute little girls. I really love the atmosphere and the choice of furniture. Congratulations Heather!
The dining table is perfect for that space. The way the chairs tuck under the table top is such a space saver.
Great Job Homeworthy . This home is amazing and the adorable couple makes it even more special.
1st of all I just love the way this couple looks at each other. They seem as though they really like each other. Really cute & beautiful couple and the house is gorgeous 🌸. I love small homes we raised 2 boys in 500sq ft . We now have 3 boys in 1100 sq feet and some families are always trying to tell us our boys need more room🌸. There’s something cozy and just a closeness you get in a small area that is sometimes hard to create in a big home. We’re forced to deal with one another 😂💝🌸
I finished watching this tour with a big smile on my face. Magical!
Beautiful apt and a beautiful family.thank you for sharing your story. DELIGHTFUL!
This couple and their daughters are so beautiful and sweet. They emanate happiness. A couple of observations: what are they going to do when the girls get taller and don’t fit into those little beds anymore? Did anyone else notice that their coffee machines take up half of their countertop space in their kitchen? What lovely people.❤
The BEST episode. LOVED everything about this family and their beautiful bijoux apartment.
Love, love this family. This is a model of true family and vintage finds.love the support with the couple.
Delightful family and wonderful to see happy people living humbly in a lovely home. More of this content❤️
