    Thank you so much for making the video. I had been at BYU, I used to live right behind the Provo Library, and never imagined BYU had a rocket club/organization. I didn't finish my major back then, but things happen for a reason; I am now studying aerospace engineering in California.

    Hello Mr. Ryan Garrison, I would like to know if we can use Openrocket for high altitude rocket simulation like launch vehicle application? also while modeling the rocket can we add our own rocket configuration or rocket (where all rocket parameters can be changed like dimensions, thrust, burn time etc.) to model exactly orbital launch event with design stages? Would love to have your feedback. Thank you.

    Awesome video, if I were to build a rocket large enough to make it to space, do I need faa approval prior to launch? Also same question in regards to FAA approval for a rocket flying higher than 400ft Agl?

    Very nice tutorial.
    QUESTION - I wondered how to add Aerotech RMS Motor Hardware (the Casing for the RMS Motors)? Is there a standard database of these casings, or do I need to start from scratch and add an inner tube?

    • @farcasdotpng
      @farcasdotpng Před 2 lety

      Nope. The RMS reloads luckily already have casings in the program.

    Question - have you ever inputted an aluminum fin can into Open Rocket? If so, how did you structure it?

    • @byurocketry6869
      @byurocketry6869  Před 4 lety +1

      Jack Caynon Assuming the fin can slides over your body tube, you can create a new body tube of the correct internal diameter, external diameter, and length to represent the “can”. Then use the position offset function to position it over your actual body tube. Finally, add the fins to this new “can” tube instead of your body tube.

    Question for you. I'm using clear acrylic fins so they will be sort of invisible since the real rocket I’m modeling after doesn't have fins... Do you know how in the appearance tab of the fins to assign no color, so they show up as just a dotted line or something similar?

    • @bennib3267
      @bennib3267 Před 3 lety

      @Charles Holliday At 8.15 min there is an option in the menu called component line style. Thats probably it

    • @bombyhead
      @bombyhead Před 2 lety

      well if you add fins that arent visible in the simulation it will be more stable then the real life version if you dont add fins so just build how it is going to be in real life and simulate it

    Can I ask a question? Is there a rocket type that its top filled with black powder ? or u're planning to add black powder apart from the rocket motor

    • @derrickwalker4423
      @derrickwalker4423 Před 2 lety

      This rocket is designed to use the ejection charge in the motor like you described. It can be disabled, but he keeps it at 9 seconds after burn when he is talking about motors around 20:00.
