@@TheMovieSurgeons Absolutely. Even when it first came out. Sure I was pretty disappointed that "Zilla" was taken down so easily at the end but I've always loved it as a fun monster movie.

Remind me how 98 isn't a Godzilla heck the missile thing was because the torpedos took the tough scales of the hide also those same missiles were the ones that only 2 destroyed the whole nest that littlerly shows he is tough heck the rest of the Godzillas need regeneration or radiation

Also he is more aerodynamic thus he is faster and swim fast even with the upside forward dorsals also chin can make more speed through the water and air
Tell that to the folks in Toho studios, the creators and owners of Godzilla. They don’t honor the 1998 Godzilla movie because it infantilized the character in their eyes

It's more accurate to say that until Godzilla minus one, the Japanese Godzillas waded (I know this was due to limitations in technology of the times) and that the monsterverse Godzilla was the "first" to truly swim

You forgot scenes in Godzilla Raids Again (where he's swimming towards Osaka and a brief shot of him swimming amongst the icebergs) and Mothra vs. Godzilla (him swimming towards Iwa Island just prior to his battle with the Mothra larvae)

I actually kind of like that no movie has ever tried to explain the instances where Godzilla is upright and moving forward while he's still several miles offshore and can't possibly be walking on anything.
