Not only is the animation top notch, you actually managed to get their movements down accurately. Shin Godzilla being stiff and lumbering while legendary is more agile an animated. Small details like that really turn this into a convincing fight and makes this one of my all-time faves.

I'm pretty sure Shin Godzilla in the movies can't even spam lmao. Isn't there like a recharge time between blasts? The rapid fire succession probably should have led into a more physical combat than atomic breath spamming.
There's a lot of small details that make this animation so good, thought I'd mention them since I love them.
I want to talk about the engagement itself. Not the fight, but the start of said fight. Shin Gojira is not the one who starts the fight, it's Legendary Godzilla. Doesn't seem like a notable subject, but if such a fight were to happen, this would most likely be how it would occur.
The *Shin Gojira* movie is directed to be like a natural disaster event, with Japan suffering the attack from a massive creature known as Gojira. In this film, Shin isn't portrayed as a bloodthirsty killing machine, which has been loosely tied to the Gojira movies since inception. Instead, Shin is written to be like an animal with no self-consciousness who's brimming with power that it cannot contain. Shin is in great pain from the radiation running through its body, a victim of sorts. But, as mentioned, it's an animal, and so Shin wreaks havoc not because it is angry or wicked, but because it doesn't have the consciousness required to hold itself together and stay away from needless destruction and death. Of course, since humanity is being attacked, they fight back, attempting to kill Shin Gojira. Only then does Shin begin to target humans specifically, ravaging and killing everything to survive, again like an animal. Shin does not enjoy the havoc, nor is it deliberately choosing to wage war. It's a neutral event. Shin is in constant agony, and its reactions are the events of Shin Gojira: the catastrophic fall of Japan.
*Legendary's* version of *Godzilla,* in comparison to Shin, is much more conscious and capable of making decisions and understanding the consequences of said decisions. In fact, Godzilla shows the ability to hold emotion, which is evident in Kong v Zilla through Godzilla's comically "evil" laughs. In the Legendary films, Godzilla acts as a sort of "guardian" for humanity, killing the Kaijus that stain the Earth. He may seem like a hero, but his actions are not because Godzilla is a selfless protector. Godzilla is waging war against his enemies, attempting to take the crown and become the king of monsters. With this in mind, Godzilla decides to rise once other Kaijus invade, killing them to keep his throne upon Earth. He's aggressive, not willing to give any inches to his enemy. He wakes, finds, kills, then leaves. He wears the crown and doesn't allow it to be taken.
This Godzilla still isn't a bloodthirsty, soulless monster though. He does show mercy at the end of Kong v Zilla, where he silently agrees with Kong to hold back from battle and the fires born of it. Legendary's storyline isn't done just yet, but from what I know, Kong's people and Godzilla's people fought a war to control Hollow Earth, which is a world at the center of Earth's core. Godzilla's people lost, and so Godzilla was sent away from the Hollow Earth and away from the throne. Godzilla is attempting to get back on that throne through all his movies, which is what strings together the events of the Legendary Godzilla trilogy.
*That was a lot of lore, what's the point?*
Godzilla and Gojira have different characters, demeanors, personalities, of which dictate the way they carry themselves and their power. This is shown in the war they wage, which is very impressive.
Shin, who's existence is a curse in of itself, trudges through the city, roaring as its scales cry with radiant energy. When Legend shows up, the two acknowledge each other. Legend roars, and then lunges to begin the engagement. Shin noticeably does nothing during this time, probably because it wasn't expecting conflict, assuming Shin can even hold any thoughts. Legend and Shin have completely different goals in this engagement. Legend is very aggressive, choosing to fight the moment he sees Shin. We know why: to keep his throne. Shin is another Kaiju after all, and only one can be king. Shin is much less aware than Legend, not showing any emotion or any thought even as Legend lunges towards him. It's only when Gojira is attacked when Shin begins retaliating. Shin isn't here to fight, but it will do so if needed to survive. Legendary is clearly more seasoned than Shin, taking initiative and playing offense, while Shin mostly responds and plays defense until obvious openings appear. Shin is more likely to win because of the sheer amount of radiation energy it has, but it doesn't know how to fight, nor does it show any ability to strategize. I see Shin as a reactionary fighter, taking opportunities as they appear and fighting without a plan, while Legendary is the opposite, making use of his consciousness and power combined with some big ol' pride and honor.
The fact that these quirks are considered in this animation is very respectable; shows great understanding of the source material and characters. Animation itself was also astounding, but that's not new information.

I mean there isn't definitive proof that Godzilla's race “lost” just as much as Kong “won”. It seems more like a war that devastated both populations, although I like the perspective of that being a part of the reason why the Godzilla species left the hollow earth, to escape the wrath of the Kong race. I like the rest of what you wrote and completely agree.

In Godzilla 2014 the action scenes had the detail that they could be filmed from posible positions. From floor, from building tops, Etc... Something I love from this animation is how it replicates it making both gojis feel really big

Confused as to why its body has transformed into the destructive giant you see before you. Scared, because it is not only in constant pain, but is being attacked left and right by the human military. It wants only to live, but it mustn't. Legendary Godzilla would see it as a man who would see someone with severe radiation poisoning. There's only one way to help them, and that's to put them out of their misery, rather than let them die from the unimaginable pain.

@@SonGokuuuuuuu Shin Godzilla's powers, like his atomic breath, is more of a side effect of his mutations than him consciously using it. The lasers only appear when he's trying to repel attackers, and is pretty much like an out of control nuclear reactor. Sooner or later he'll just go BOOM. That's why he does such inexplicable acts, such as suddenly going into full on sprints, or just running amock. He can't help himself. Legendary Godzilla is from a different franchise/timeline where he is a natural part of the Earth, and the titans have always been here, rather than being a result of humanity affecting the world around it through its atomic weapons testing. That's why Legendary Godzilla looks like an actual, "normal" creature, and why Shin Godzilla looks like a walking radiation burn.

JZSLD G-Fan well Shin’s never fought or even encountered another creature his size before. So of course his reaction speed is gonna be a little off when encountering something as big as him for the very first time.
Megatron G 1 well given LegendaryGoji’s status as Alpha Predator, it actually makes sense. If he were to encounter another individual Godzilla, he’d likely see them as a rival trying to claim his title. Hell for all we know, the Legendary Godzilla may very well have ended up doing just that to another one of his kind at some point in the past in order to become the current Alpha Predator.
It’s much like how animals today constantly clash over things such as territory or positions in social hierarchy.

I can’t like this enough. This was fucking amazing. The fluid animation, the atomic breath, and both of each individual Godzillas’ expressions when they’re being attacked. Exactly how I would expect them to react. Just incredible.
And those models are low quality! Imagine what these guys could do!
And film accurate on top of that! Godzilla in the Monsterverse is more of a brawler, using brute strength and fangs primarily over his energy-consuming atomic breath. Shin Godzilla is much slower with small arms and fat legs, so naturally would rely on his atomic breath over physical attacks. My money's on Monsterverse Godzilla, just because his atomic breath is strong enough at range to keep Shin at bay long enough for him to get close and deal some damage with his teeth and claws.

This fight was really good because it isn't just an animated fight between 2 beasts, its an animated fight between two beasts with personalities along with their strengths and weaknesses, shin could not beat legendary in a fist or close combat brawl and it showed, legendary had to look out for Shins atomic laser, and it showed. Shin has back lasers which Legendary found out the hard way lmao. Please dont peak here, this animation is gonna be extremely hard to top in part 2. If I could donate so you could create Part 2 with a higher budget, I'd pay 50 bucks to watch an animation, in a heart beat

That was the biggest downfall of the last movie. The human scenes were arguably the worst in recent Godzilla history.
@@ultraspinalki11 How else are people gonna add human characters in a kaiju film? You can add human characters...just don't have them underdeveloped or thinly written, plus there are always risks to writing a human storyline, you can have clever storytelling but don't get it mumble jumbled or else its one very confusing mess.
@@noahstickley9774 that's the thing. We had weak plots regarding the humans, and every action scene between the monsters kept getting interrupted constantly by human interactions.
@@ultraspinalki11 Because we have to know what the hell they are doing...while the f***ing fight is going on!!! We cant have scenes of the monsters fighting and then after the fight is over, we cut to what the humans were doing DURING the fight which is a clear sign that the editing and pacing are shit.
