    Thank you, very instructive video. I'll try to make my own erhu, hope it sounds as good as yours.

    Brilliant.👏 it has a bit dry sound though. You have to add a sponge behind the strings. Wonderful. I am also making one. Thanx

    Kind of amazing that this erhu sounds a bit like a flute or a Western wind instrument.

    Thanks for sharing the details. Could you please explain why the bow was made with 2 halves of bamboo sticks glued together? Is it possible to use a whole bamboo stick instead?

      You have to split it so you can band them and get a flexible but sturdy bent.

    Hey I was wondering what kind of cloth you used under the bridge. Is there any specific type of cloth I should use or would any cloth work?

      Traditionally from your tip of fingers to elbow. So thesounds are exactly on the tip of your fingers. Children has smaller hands.

  • @cadenzachambermusic7065

    It sound very good, but it's more of a violin than an erhu to my ear... erhu has this solemn or sad kind of quality, like it is mourning.

    • @cigarboxguitar8026
      @cigarboxguitar8026 Před 6 lety +7

      Ismael if I was you I would use fishing line instead of yarn. It will work better.

    • @MunthApollo
      @MunthApollo Před 6 lety +2

      I agree on the fishing line thing. I don't know too much about this, but in my opinion, I think the yarn wouldn't have enough grab on the string at it's so soft. You have to remember that the sound of your instrument is really coming from the bow, therefore you'll want to have a bow that will produce a lot of sound. Yarn may not do this, although maybe a thin twine will.

    • @cigarboxguitar8026
      @cigarboxguitar8026 Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah twine might work Lemontations. I made a bow for my spike fiddle just a couple days ago and I can confirm that fishing line works well. I would say twine would work pretty good too. I would be afraid yarn would break due to having so much friction and tension put on it. It's very fragile as is, and then you are stressing it. Fishing line is made to withstand a lot of wear and tear. It's made of Mono filament which is a good synthetic horse hair like material. When bunched together it looks and feels a lot like horse hair used in bows. Also Ismael Basilio Don't forget to rosin the fishing line like you would horse hair, after you put it on the bow, or it won't make sound. :)
